  • I've been making low fat french toast style crumpets - whisk one egg with a dash of milk and some apple pie spice blend, soak two crumpets in the mixture. Cook in a sandwich press until toasted. Spread with a little peanut butter or jam if you feel like something sweet. Yummers!
  • I like half a banana chopped up, about 5 roasted almonds, crushed, a sprinkle of cinnamon, splenda and a splash of milk, all mixed up. There was a time at university when I was eating this combo for three meals a day.
  • I kinda get where you're coming from - I have a very loving boyfriend who constantly tells me I'm beautiful just as I am - it actually causes some arguments, because he thinks I don't accept/value his view, whereas I get annoyed that he doesn't recognise I want to lose weight for ME and how I feel. He is not the healthiest…
  • ...because I only have to commit to one day at a time, and one day of eating on point is not too challenging.
  • OP posted about something that works for her - obviously it helps with her adherence and is something she feels has been a positive change for her. I don't get the mentality of other people jumping all over someone's point of view when it differs from their own - you like to eat sugar and can do so as part of a balanced…
  • A steak a day keeps the cows dead.
  • I'm 5'7. Currently AU10-12 (US 6-8). I would like to be an AU8 (US4). A real US 4, not vanity sizing, though.
  • I think a lot of it is genetic. I am 29 years old (30 at the end of this month). I have never been hugely overweight, but during my 20's fluctuated between a low of 135lbs and a high of 182lbs. I have a little loose skin on my arms, but not enough to justify surgery there. My worst area is my outer thighs/butt. I have…
  • I have, for the last ten years or so, been utterly consumed with my weight and/or appearance. I've recently decided that while I continue to want to strive for health (which includes fat loss) I no longer want to base my self worth on a number on the scale. Rather than thinking "I am fat" I am trying to think "I HAVE fat,…
  • I sort of met Hugh Jackman - at a gym in New Zealand, he walked towards me and I was looking at him thinking "is that actually Hugh Jackman?" I must have been staring because he laughed and smiled and said "hey, how are you going?". I went bright red and said 'good'' which came out sounding like a foghorn. I just about wet…
  • I'd love to try pumpkin pie - I've lived in NZ, Australia and London and in my experience pumpkin has always been a savoury food - usually in the form of pumpkin soup or as a roasted side dish to a "Sunday roast". Seems less popular in the UK though. Very normal in Aus and NZ, but not really as a dessert (well not that…
  • I'm in. I keep fluctuating between 69 and 70. Would like to see 66.9 (or below!). So three kilos...(6-ish pounds) seems achievable. Aim high, right.
  • I didn't know a group like this existed, but I did happen to start a new exercise routine yesterday and I took "before" pictures this morning, so it seems like serendipitous timing for me! would love to join.
  • Hi Heybales Based on my bodyfat results from the DEXA (which were actually much worse than expected - I am just within the healthy range for BMI, but obese for body fat at 33%!!) my RRM results were slightly lower than predicted Benedict Harris BMR but higher than Katch McArdle BMR - but taking into account the extra 150…
  • I've tried a PSMF a couple of times... despite my best intentions, gave up after about a week each time and went the other direction for a couple of days after. I think PSMF diets are really intended for people who are already in decent shape and can handle the discipline of an uber strict diet - the reason a lot of us…

  • My RMR was 1526 - so I think a bit less than what the estimates tell me, but not heaps less. I do still get a wee bit confused about the difference between RMR and BMR - I believe RMR is very slightly higher but not entirely sure. It hasn't really changed what I've been doing, I still struggle with my intake - I guess it…
  • Hi! I actually had my RMR testing done and a DEXA scan last week. The Dexa Scan was quite confronting - my arms, for example, really aren't very big but they are pretty much just bone and fat. I also thought my legs were bigger because they're muscular but nope, pretty high proportion of fat there too! It has really…
  • Thanks for the response - I just realised I look like such an idiot, I meant to say breaths per minute (don't quite know what I was thinking there). I'm not really stressing over the results, it's more just a curiosity about what they mean to me and whether they can be manipulated to my advantage. It actually seems to show…
  • I probably go on overkill when preparing my noodles, but think that comes from a couple of bad experiences when first trying them out! I rinse them really, really well then leave them to soak in water with a splash of white vinegar for 10 minutes. Rinse again, then boil them in stock (beef, chicken or veg - depending on…
  • Thanks for the replies - unfortunately I'm one of those people that loves the idea of being fit and sporty, just no good at putting it into practice. My philosophy has always been no pain, no pain. I think it's partially from previously losing weight by super low calories (i.e. no energy to work out) but otherwise it's…
  • Thanks for the feedback Stef - ambling is probably a pretty good description when it comes to my exertion levels :-) Hopefully this is the prompt I need to actually do something about my fitness levels :-) Funnily enough, I have anaemia too - although I think my V02 reading is likely more relevant to my general distaste…
  • Hi! I've just been diagnosed with Hashimotos - two days ago, actually. Bit sad to hear that my body is attacking my thyroid, but I'm almost relieved to find out there's a reason why I've been feeling so crappy. I'm not sure how it affects weight loss on EM2WL. I have been at about a 15% cut for the last few months and have…
  • That was my understanding of it, too. But then I see examples (like the one I posted above) and the laws of physics don't seem to apply to some people. It was more of a curious question than a desperate quest for answers - I like things to make sense and when some people get results that don't make "sense" I want to know…
  • Ha, me too. I fully embrace white lies and find my life is less awkward for it :-) (what can I say, I'm a coward)
  • I'm the opposite. LOVE chocolate and ice-cream (massive sweet tooth). Although I'm another one that doesn't like fudge. It doesn't repulse me, I just would never choose to eat it - seems like a waste of calories! Always hated 'sweet' bready/pastry products - doughnuts, danish pastries, pain au chocolat - yuck. Also hate…
  • Interesting debate. Still figuring out what works for me. In to follow the thread.
  • I think when she said she loses off her hips and thighs, she meant that's where it goes from first. To be fair, I always say I lose like a melting candle - face, boobs, belly then legs last. Of course there are fat cells everywhere but my initial obvious places to lose are always upper body. I hate that a lot of people on…
  • I am scarily like my mother. I don't recall her ever not being on a diet, and her weight fluctuated considerably throughout my life. I remember her trying to talk to me about my weight when I was about 16 (and way too sensitive to talk about that sort of thing!) and saying that it was killing her to watch me go through the…
  • I have the crease, too! Probably yet another sign that I need to learn to sit up straight...
  • That's funny - I was saying the exact same thing yesterday. I realised I'm exactly 14 kgs (about 31lbs) lighter than I was this time last year - and yet I feel like I don't look any different. I must look different, surely. I have had a few fluctuations within that time (moved countries in September and had a couple months…
