I may not be qualified to offer advice on women's shorts, but, personally, I've never had any issues with Canari. Reasonably priced, good padding, and hold up pretty well.

Glad you're ok. If you can get the money for the S-Works, go for it. I've got a few friends that ride them, and they say it's worth it.
