If you are at a resort where the place has a full kitchen, use it. I'm heading to Orlando for about 10 days and my first order of business after getting into the place is grocery shopping before I hit the resort bar and start ordering all that fried goodness.

My uneducated guess as to why diets "fail" is because of the all-or-nothing perception that comes with it. As others have said, there is nothing wrong with an indulgence. If you really feel guilty about it, bang it out that much harder in the next workout and create a larger deficit. Sometimes eating outside of the diet is…

Whether you like it or not, it's all mental and yes, a simple cliche doesn't magically get it done. It's all about understanding ones mindset and committing oneself to getting that mindset, right. This is a bit of an oversimplification but it's a message board so I'm going to try and avoid the dreaded "TL;DR," moniker. The…

Less about everything and more about the ankle: Trace the alphabet with your toes to help recovery on injured ankle. Stand on one leg (injured ankle) during commercial breaks while watching t.v. The constant fight to stay still helps strengthen the ankle without heavy impact.

Not to pile on but...Loose weight is the weight you want to lose.

If you aren't suffering overuse or other injury due to your workload, it's not too much. Do what you can handle. It's up to you to find that balance. Everyone is different. I mix cardio with strength but the first 30 minutes or so is mostly cardio (heavy bag). As alluded to previously, if you aren't paying attention to…

"Don't count the days; make the days count."

Heavy bag boxing with a couple rounds of tabata.

I used to do daily but I felt like I was getting obsessed so I switched to once a week. I'm beginning to lean towards two weeks just as an exercise in discipline.

The older we get, the more our bodies develop an ironic sense of humor. I found a single strand of hair growing out of my shoulder today. One! I once had one single hair growing about a half inch below my hairline on my forehead. It's like it was mocking the rest of my hair, "Remember when we ALL hung out down here."…

As someone with athletically induced asthma, I can relate. I also have allergies and right now when I work out after a two day break, my eyes look like I've been on a two day bender. I do want to add a caveat along with what others have said. Folks have said to pay attention to your medications and pay attention to what…

I find the longer I wait to workout, the harder it is to get motivated. Not all of the time, but enough to recognize early workouts are best for me and I am by no means a morning person. As was said previously, going to bed earlier helps. Of course it isn't easy to do right away, but over time ones internal clock will…

It's simply a matter of 'toning' everything and by toning I mean losing fat. As you lose the fat and exercise accordingly you will strengthen the area and eventually develop more defined (noticeable) muscle in a particular area. It's been said a million times on this board, "you can't spot reduce." For me, strengthening my…

We have an Everlast heavy bag in our basement. My son actually bought it late last summer/early fall with Grandma money and I think it was less than $80 on Amazon. He, of course, never used it so I started to and haven't stopped. We hang it from the ceiling. It came with gloves and wraps (elastic). I don't use the wraps…

Mines a real pic. Cell phone pic of a fishing trip in Mexico (family member). I don't use my face for anonymity reasons. Every once in a while I think about it then decide against it. I think the better question here is, why does anyone care?

Go for the most authentic dishes although I'm guessing those are rare at a Buffett. Stay away from the sauces...which is difficult. I love Americanized Chinese food but don't eat it often.

Love the H7!

For me, changing my eating habit was easier than exercising. The trick is finding exercise you enjoy. Just do a little at a time to begin. Set small manageable goals and before you know it, you have a full blown routine.

Trust me, it's not as interesting as it sounds. Just standard catalog stuff. I was no CK model. I was however, in much better shape.

What exactly is "senior?" My athletes think 30 is the end-times. 46 FWIW

I love the flow and beat apps but both are Polar. Hoped they would synch with UA Record but based on an email I had with them, it doesn't look like they will be playing together anytime soon so I deleted the Record app. They both work great with MFP.

Pictures from my now defunct modeling portfolio. I want that back. My daughter who is home from school (about 2k miles away) for the summer. She's been working out with me since she has been home and that's actually been fun and has motivated me to push a bit harder to be the example I really need to be.

Bwahaha, I first read this as Les Miles and was like, really?

Ahhh...the weekends. I don't work out on weekends largely because I'm out of town two and sometimes three weekends a month for a large chunk of the year. It's insanely difficult and my eating habits are deplorable. The stress of those days usually keeps me from eating anything until the evening (whole other issue). To…

With athletes, those that are intrinsically driven are, in my experience, always more successful than those that are extrinsically driven. You need to look at what you said, embrace one part and ignore the other. ^^^^^^^This is extremely important. That is change you can feel. That's your body telling you, inside and out,…

M-F ~ one hour/day 36 minutes heavy bag (some tabata) to begin every session - 70 push ups mixed in there, 10 at the end of every song. M, W, F - follow bag work w/ 4 sets of bear crawls (2 forwards/backwards - 2 sideways left/right) - 3 sets of bar dips (10) to Burpees (10) to 1 min. Plank - a few more bear crawls and…

^^^^ For me it's the opposite. Everyone, including my own children think I'm a spy masquerading as a coach and trophy husband....which is my euphemism for stay at home pop. I'm actually more of a participation trophy husband.
