Speak for yourself...I don't eat cold cheese sandwiches much and I'm English :P

Yep, for example my friend posted a pic on FB, she looks at least 20lb thinner (from about 155-160 to maybe 125-130 I would guess) but I just said she looked amazing, wouldn't want to say anything about her actual weight in case she thinks I'm saying she *needed* to lose it!

I am so surprised that so many women don't wear underwear to workout...I have never considered it but would think that the sweat and the material involved in workout gear would make that area kinda...hot and itchy...?

Seriously? EVERYONE on MFP looks younger than they are? Does no-one look their age anymore? I can only go by pictures but I would say a lot of people that post here look very similar to their actual age, not the 10 years younger that they've heard...

You all lose, I'm 25 and people always offer me the under 10's meal deal.

Markets in the UK went quiet for a little while at the beginning of the 2000s, but now everyone is more interested in good food (because of the celebrity chefs?), so they're *everywhere* now. My housemate went to our local one on Monday and paid around £10 for 12 potatoes, a load of carrots, onions, parsnips, a bag of…

I'm in Oxford, so it's not the cheapest. Used to live in Lancaster, definitely noticed an increase when I moved here. I do actually go out of my way to go to ASDA (as Oxford itself is too posh to have one!) but yep, it's 50p for a cucumber or an iceburg lettuce, think it's 70p or so for 6 tomatoes. See if they deliver to…

I move between about 800-1000 on weekdays and 2000-2500 at weekends (ugh) but I'm trying to level it out at about 1600 every day. I'm trying to get into that habit but I'm still getting the non-logical side of my head around diets not having to be starvation so today I only ate 900 and I don't feel hungry. Edit: I'm…

Long Live The NHS - I can eat burgers all I want! Also, our healthy food is actually quite cheap here in the UK. Avocados have gone down a lot in price recently because I'm guessing they are getting transported in bigger loads. They used to be £1 ($1.6) each, today I got 4 for £1.75 ($2.20ish). Bananas are pennies.…

Yep, I studied biology and biomedical science (but I never say that in my posts...I'm usually too scared someone will shout at me ;)) and can confirm you are correct! although protein and whole grains are more filling so you would consume less calories, and I think also certain types of calories are *easier* for the body…

A calorie is just a calorie for most purposes, but how the body uses it does vary slightly and yes of course it is better to feel fuller from less calories, which is what you get from whole grains and protein. Also I would *never* throw away the egg yolk, how wasteful!

That's what I generally do, I am a night person anyway but I want to start doing 30 minutes in the morning and an hour a night to be able to fit more in, plus I think 30 minutes cardio in the morning might actually help me wake up...if I get up in the first place!
-
please be careful with sleeping 4 hours a night...it sounds like a dream to most people but it has been linked to permanent differences in brain structure that can cause memory loss.
-
That would definitely work, but I have no-one to work out with in the morning because all of my friends work different shifts. Hm.

I technically *am* an expert and what you say is true, especially the consuming calories/carbohydrates after a certain time myth. The one thing is the breakfast thing. It actually does increase your metabolism by a bit, which is why (for me) I go around hungry all day if I eat breakfast. I don't eat it because it makes me…

My argument against these idiots is that if starvation mode was a thing like people describe it here, anorexia sufferers wouldn't be thin. Which they are. So your metabolism obviously doesn't just *stop*, although it may slow down a bit. I think it's exaggerated quite a lot. It's not healthy to do it unsupervised, and yes…

My starting weight was a little over 154lbs and I'm already down to 148lbs (NOT STARVING MYSELF) so I'm thinking it was mostly just water retention and things like that. I'll use 148 as my starting point instead :)

I aim for pilates strength training (not focusing on yoga-style moves, more on press-up and sit-up and lunge variations), sometimes with smaller weights on at least 3 days a week, and aim for a mix of cardio (either a gym session where I do 10 minutes on each machine for a total of 40-50 minutes or 30-60 minutes of…

I'm in too :) My goal this month is to complete a blogilates workout calendar (6 days a week eek!) and have no alcohol and no takeaway! EEP.

One word of warning. All these women saying it lasts 4 weeks, grows back thinner etc., could be wrong in your case. I've endured it around 20 times in my life and it just doesn't work for me. It lasts for about 2 days and never goes completely smooth (used a lot of different waxers all over the country, even on…

PS how are you all affording a HRM? They're ridiculously expensive!
-
For something like blogilates videos (kind of low cardio pilates) I always use the low effort calisthenics measure and it's about 300kcal for an hour. The high effort calisthenics is about 5-600 or something, which is way too high, and pilates itself is about 200kcal, which I think is way too low. I don't have a HRM but i…

wow, you think I should be eating MORE than I have this week? One day I ate 1500, which is a lot for me on a weekday! I'm trying to lose weight (probably about 20-30lbs of FAT in total (I am 5'5'' and 155lbs), not sure what I want the scale to say as I would like more muscle in exchange...) btw Do you think I should add in…

I've fixed that now :)
-
I don't, I mean I tried each one for 6-8 weeks at a time! I did talk to my doctor but because my BMI is only 25-26 at any one time (healthy to only slightly overweight) they say it's not a problem. I've tried everything - and I'm friggin' starving :(
-
I would also like to point out that I don't lose weight when I eat 2500, 2000, 1800, 1600, 1350 OR 1200 calories a day - I've tried each of these at least 6 days a week for 4-8 weeks in a row. The *only* time I lose weight is if I eat 600-900 AND burn some off. Even then it's a struggle (e.g. 1lb a month or so) I weigh…

Apparently Alexis Bledel is my closest, although I'm not too sure. Same eyes, I guess, but she's much cuter

If I were you, I would do something like: Monday - 30m yoga, 20m legs, Tuesday - weights, 20m abs Wednesday - Jillian Michaels, 30m yoga Thursday - 30m yoga (low intensity "rest day") Friday - Jillian Michaels, 20m legs Saturday - Jillian Michaels, 20m abs Sunday - 30m yoga (low intensity), optional weights assuming that…

I do a combination of things - made-up cardio workouts 2-3 times a week, squash once a week, blogilates pilates calendar (she does 6 days, i normally just do 4 of those), various exercise classes at the gym...so i'm technically doing about 4 different workout regimes and I sometimes chuck in other things when I get bored.…

I eat some processed food because I find it easier to calorie count with those than with making all my food from scratch. I never know how much oil to count, and some things are really complicated to weigh every single ingredient every time you cook. Easier to just use a packet which already tells you!
