I've never tried it, but bought some the other day that I haven't gotten around to cooking. I don't have high hopes for it though... is the texture anything like couscous? Because I kind of hate that.

Stir fry, chicken salad, wraps, pot pie, soups...

How is that sugar free? Is there a tolerance for foods to be "sugar free"?

I have a total of four girlfriends that have had breast reductions, for various reasons. ALL of them couldn't be happier! Not once have I heard any of them say they wished they hadn't done it.

Snap peas and carrots... sometimes dipped in light ranch. Apples, grapes, strawberries.

I'm 5'9" (and a half! haha) and currently at 156. I'd like to get to 140, then see how it looks and feels at that time before I determine if I want to lose any more. I really want to be toned and lean, so 140 might be the perfect weight once I get the muscles all toned up. In high school I was 90 lbs... didn't break 100…

Mexican pizzas! Or at least that's what we call it: Saute tofu with onions & peppers Using standard whole wheat tortilla shells, layer as follows: Shell, spread with salsa, sour cream, and cheese (or skip any of those). Sprinkle tofu, onions, peppers, and anything else you want (I usually do corn and/or black beans). Add…

Yes! I'm about to start climbing for the first time in a year and I'm beyond excited, though a little apprehensive as well. All I can say is not to let your injury make you lazy. I did, and I'm paying for it now by not being able to fit into last summer's clothes. ;) The wall ball squats were probably the single…

Oh do I feel your pain! Last summer I had four meniscus tears in my left knee - the medial tear was repaired using stitches, the others just got cut out. As good as the repair was supposed to be for long term, it was an extremely long recovery. Then, just as I was about healed, I injured my other knee with a tibial spine…

Mmmm, I love the black beans! I like them best in the traditional Cuban style: Wash the beans and soak them in water with one green pepper. When they’re swollen from soaking, cook them in the same water until they are soft (about 45 minutes). Heat the oil in a skillet. Chop the onion, garlic, and green pepper and sauté…

Potato chips. I love them. LOVE them. Since I've started MFP (only a little over a week), I haven't had one chip. Which was very difficult over the holiday weekend with a dozen bags staring me in the face.

Try doing squats with a wall ball to make it less strain on your knees while you re-hab. A proper tape job can work wonders as well in helping your patella track properly. I also do static lunges with a parallel bar - so if you have something to hold on to in order to reduce the stress, it can help strengthen your muscles…

Yeah I have to say the last time I tried oysters they were slightly less repulsive than they've been in the past. Maybe in another year I'll be able to hold my own in the annual oyster shucking madness.

Avocado, crab, tomatoes (still can't do them raw but I'm getting there), eggplant, hummus, pizza with toppings other than pepperoni, pork (not all the way there with that one but I love me some ribs and pernil!), kiwi, sushi, escargot, super spicy things...

So I'm not going to read all 20 pages of this thread but... I'm considering starting this and I have a couple of questions. First, do you think it would be as effective to do vertical or incline push ups instead of the standard or modified? I am recovering from knee injuries and can't do the knee versions. Also - for the…

Climbing, slacklining, hiking, paddling...

Yeah I have to say that after having upped my water intake to the proper limits, I'm having to pee ALL THE TIME. It kind of sucks, but it's simply a by-product of staying hydrated.
-
Emu oil is fantastic for stretch marks and scar tissue.

I've just started recently, but I'll do vertical pushups on the wall a few times throughout the day at work, usually 3 sets of 10 at a time. It only takes a minute, so it's easy to motivate. I've also just begun to sit on a balance ball instead of a chair, but it's too new to say if I love it or if it's helping or not yet.

My long term boyfriend is great - he's with me all the way in the getting healthy aspect, and fully supports and even participates in the changes I'm making to be more fit overall. :) Even if he WAS like "You could stand to lose about 20 lbs..." Thanks for the reality check babe.

Some things are simply not worth giving up - one of these is the gloriousness that is REAL bacon. My only concession is to buy the lower sodium versions. Turkey bacon is just always such a disappointment.

Yes I'd say it took all of 2-3 weeks for my thighs to shrivel away from not being able to bear weight. First one knee, then the other. Well at least they match now. ;) I'm finally getting some muscle back, but really the leg raises were the best thing when I was down for the count.
-
Straight leg raises, and what others have said... I feel your pain. In the last year I've spent about 5 months cumulatively on crutches, and I wish I had stuck with some more aggressive fitness plan while I was unable to put any weight on one leg...

What about climbing? Talk about a way to get toned, and in a fun way that doesn't seem so much like work. Start out at a climbing gym if you like it, then take it outside... providing you live somewhere that it's feasible of course. Ties in nicely with hiking and other non-typical exercise type activities.. Just a thought!

Absolute must-haves in my kitchen or I'll go into convulsions: Garlic powder, sea salt, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, cayenne pepper, ground mustard, onion powder, basil, oregano, allspice, thyme, paprika, white pepper, marjoram, rosemary, parsley... I have a thousand more (one of my food cabinets is nothing but…

I wish it went to my boobs. ;)

My mom makes this thing with wilted spinach and craisins in some sort of celery dressing. I need to get the recipe, it's quite delicious. Sometimes she'll add chopped grilled chicken.

I love grilling those little baby sweet peppers - the ones that come in red, yellow, and orange. YUM. Pretty much anything you can do in the oven, you can also do on the grill. If you get one of those veggie baskets, you can even use that to cook chopped veggies with whatever seasonings you want. Sweet potatoes, peppers,…

The best thing I seem to find for calves is simple calf raises on stairs. So on the ball of your feet, raise all the way up, then drop down so your heel is below the step. I usually do about 5 sets of 15 and if I'm really focusing, my calves hurt the next day! The other is to stretch on a slant board - or make one so your…
