I just got Rodney Yee's book "Moving Toward Balance". It looks beautifully done, so far as I can tell. Looking forward to really figuring out how to develop a good, consistent home practice. I've fallen off the wagon the last couple of days.

I'm personally a fan of Prana... I just love their stuff and it seems to really last forever. The Malina Top and the Lenna Tank do not have a shelf bra (that's going to be hard to find, btw). Lululemon is another brand, I'm not as familiar with their stuff to know which have internal bras or not. Also, Patagonia and REI…

I *almost* did it this morning. Does intention count? ;)

Isn't the Yoga with a View the one with the traffic noise in the background? I found it to be a bit distracting... though I like the girl and her voice. :)

I have such a hard time motivating in the morning. I know that even a 15-20 minute session would be great to get the day started but I seem to stay in bed until the last possible moment, then I'm rushing to get ready and out the door. I would love to figure out how to overcome that!

I'm not a terribly depressive person, but I can certainly tell in the months I've been practicing, I feel better overall: emotionally, physically, and mentally. Perhaps it's simply placebo effect. Perhaps it's simply being more physically active all-together. But I tend to think that the tranquility of the practice itself…

Awesome, thanks folks!

Thank you! No, that's not the order I typically do them - I was just listing the poses that I tend to do most often. I'd say I follow your recommended order pretty closely, though... I think I will start holding poses longer, like the lunges in particular. I've browsed through Yoga Journal but haven't seen the podcasts -…

I'm also fairly new to yoga, and would love more recommendations for online guided sessions (ideally free, haha!). It seems, browsing through, that many of the videos are breaking down the poses rather than just a nice flowing session. Aside from that, I also have a question about home practice. Aside from a regular weekly…

I've only recently started yoga, and haven't worn a HRM or anything but in a full session I actually DO work up a sweat - I can't help but think it DOES burn calories. How many, I can't say... and I imagine it has a great deal to do with the type of yoga you practice.

I'm interested to see if anyone responds to this - I'm also torn between those very same two mats. I love Prana as a brand overall, but I'm also a beginner to yoga. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of mats! I'm a taller girl (5'9"+) so I think ultimately I'd like the bigger area of the Revolution. At the…

Climbing is a lot easier than you'd think! Definitely use your feet as much as you can - it's really mostly about footwork vs. arm strength, though having upper body strength of course is a plus. My main advice is more about the mental aspect: try to continue linking your steps and moves, and don't stop for more than a…

I just started this yesterday. I have bad knees, so I actually do have to modify the jumping jacks, jump rope, and butt kicks. Still, it kicked my *kitten* and today my abs are sore. Pretty sad, actually, but hey - it's a great short workout, and I've been off the wagon for two weeks. I hope to power through the rest of…

So what changed your mind? I'm just test driving at the moment, haven't actually decided to keep it yet. I need to try it out a bit more, as I only had time to shoot two rounds yesterday which wasn't enough to really determine if it's a keeper. Though it felt great and had a nice smooth action with just the right amount of…

This is essentially like the Lady Rossi .38 I picked up yesterday. Shot it for the first time. Really fun. It's too small for my boyfriend though...
-
Oooh great timing. I just picked up a .38 special, a Lady Rossi today. I haven't shot it yet but will later when I get the chance. If anyone has experience with that particular gun, I'd welcome feedback. I love the .380, and even though I think Glocks are kind of ugly, they are a blast to shoot and very accurate!

^^ha! I find that when I read or otherwise distract myself, I pedal slower. So I've stopped trying to multi-task in that way and instead put on some really upbeat music. I will also use my hand weights while riding to do some light strength training at the same time.

Yes it's amazing how grateful one can become for two working legs! Last summer I had surgery on the other knee, so basically in the last year I spent the majority of it on crutches. Plastic shopping bags became my best friend (to carry things in so I could loop around my wrist and crutch!). I also placed TV trays in stages…

I made stuffed peppers from a recipe on skinnytaste last week. They were great - My boyfriend was complaining that I wasn't using beef, then said they were the best I'd ever made. :)

Ouch! I had a tibial spine fracture myself just three months ago. I feel your pain! Part of your loss could be the quads losing integrity. It only took about 2 weeks for my thighs to look shriveled, and the muscle mass was simply not there. The other part of it could be appetite/meds combo... on certain meds I just wasn't…

Also, the advantage to going to a gym first: rental gear, a chance to see if it's something worth the investment, and perhaps the biggest perk of all, meeting locals that you can hook up with to get climbing outside. This is usually a better option than using a guide - for one, your gym climbing buddy is not going to…
-
I know you said outdoors, but honestly I might take her to a gym first to see if she even likes it. Then you can look on (as mentioned above) mountainproject.com or rockclimbing.com. You could meet up with people there and/or just scout the routes available. If you're not experienced yourself, definitely go with people who…

Due to knee injuries, I haven't been able to do this for the last year but I'm getting strong enough now to get back into it! It is so much fun, and addictive too! Your abs and legs will definitely be sore the next day if you do this for any length of time - it's a fantastic core workout! Gibbon now has a portable stand…

I don't want to be harsh here, but I think it's a just a little sad that you'd consider a woman who is comfortable with her body in the nude to be disgusting. Uncomfortable? Sure. A bit shocking, even, if you'd never experienced that - yes. But imagine if someone else called your naked body disgusting... at the gym, no…
-
I haven't had lots of gym experience, but from what I've observed that's pretty typical. I don't see the big deal... if you're disgusted (which is kind of mind boggling) then ... don't look? But yeah... naked bodies in the locker room is not abnormal.

Breakfast beer/summertime: Smirnoff Ice (original is best but most flavors are good) For lake/pool drinking: Fat Tire in a can or Coors Light (sad I can even put them next to each other like that). When I'm feeling cheap: Yuengling Favorites: New Belgium almost anything (esp. Fat Tire, 1554, Trippel), Evolution Amber, Left…

Maybe start by browsing the success threads and get inspired by some of their stories and journeys. One day at a time!

I'm a total Keen *kitten*. Just got three pair in the mail today. Making my total of Keens (of various styles) a whopping 8 pair. :blushing: Seriously though... great shoes, last forever, and super comfortable. I found the footbeds on Chacos to not be as comfy.

I recently went out for a burger (Red Robin, 1/3 lb w/mushrooms & onion strings) and sweet potato fries. Total calorie count for the meal? About 1200. Seriously. I searched the database for popular brands of burgers to get a general estimate, and it was all around 1000 calories without any sides. HOWEVER, I have been…

Prana and Patagonia both have nice long sporty tops. I'm really long waisted (at 5'9") and that's about all I can wear!
