oooohh - just remembered - that's why it is important to measure. I did lose inches during those 4 weeks - that and how your clothes fit gives you confidence that SOMETHING is happening.

It took me almost 4 weeks, but I'm old.

It is not just a matter of opinion, it is harder - for women - I don't know about men. Even weight watchers reduces the amount of points women are allotted with age - although not enough for me. Just google "weight loss during perimenopause" and find a thousand articles and books. I couldn't lose weight to save my life…

Yes! and I was worried but someone posted an article by Charlene Johnson that explains why the above happens and I was soooo relieved. I wish there is some way we could feature this article all the time because there's like a daily post with the same concern.

I don't think so either - your 40? After 40 I gained 40 lbs over several years on 1800 calories and I'm 5' 3" and exercise a lot. Before 40 I lost at 1800 - age matters, a lot more for some people than others. I would go down at least to 1500 and eat a lot more protein and veggies and less processed foods.

Feel free to add me anyone - 48 1/2 - I thought I replied to this yesterday, but I guess there were two threads! Anyway, we definitely support at this age!

Eat more protein and less carbs! You can look at my diary. Good luck.

48 and 1/2 - feel free to add me anyone! It ain't easy at this age but I'm in week 12 of P90X and am finally realizing it can be done and there is NO TIME but the present!

WW worked for me the first time - when I was 38 - fast forward 10 years later and I had put the 25 lbs back on and then some, following the maintenance plan, as well as several attempts to lose again along the way. Apparently my metabolism slowed way down but my target points did not - and it no longer worked. I kept using…

Awesome! You just became my role model!

I don't know - I have never done any workout DVD besides p90x - I guess the cardio workouts are more like calisthenics and aerobics is more like dance moves. But it sounds like Turbo Jam is more like cardio - maybe I should try it. Definitely will be doing Les Mills though - probably will start in August. Thanks!

I'm interested in doing Les Mills next - read about it but have not heard anything from anyone actually doing it, so I'm interested to hear from those that have. Turbo Jam - isn't that like aerobics? I have an aversion to aerobics so I didn't really consider it. I was thinking of doing Les Mills along with my old cardio…

You can get p90x calories here: http://p90xcalories.com/ I have been eating 1200 calories for 3 1/2 months and lost 18 lbs (10 before I joined MFP) and not eating any exercise calories back unless I am really hungry, but I'm in week 10 of p90x and I'm starting to feel like I need a boost so I'm trying to go up to 1500. Its…

Eat more protein! I eat between 1200 - 1500, usually at the lower end, while doing p90x and I rarely get hungry (if I do I eat closer to 1500) and have tons of energy and am getting stronger by the day. I am 48, 5' 3" and if I eat more I don't lose weight - now I'm losing about 1 lb. a week. Everyone's metabolism is…

I don't know about working harder, but different workouts might help. I lost 25 lbs 10 years ago but stupidly let life's stresses get to me and slowly put it back on. I had been trying for years to lose it again but would give up after extremely long plateaus (or weight loss that was so slow that it was not measurable),…

I am 5' 3" and currently weigh 157. I set my goal at 135, but I am 48 and loss has been incredibly slow (I am not complaining because before I started doing p90x I wasn't losing ANYTHING). But honestly I don't know if I'll ever get lower than 145. In both pictures in my profile I am 165 but I lost lots of inches in the…

I am 48 - same boat - snail's pace but for the first time in my 40s, I'm determined to stick it out. Feel free to add me; I am new relatively new to MFP and haven't really tried to make and "friends" - am doing p90x and joined that group. I'm also going to look for the 40-50s group someone mentioned. Good luck!

Mine is open - my macro goals are wrong but actuals are what I am aiming for.

Hi- I've been doing P90x for 2 1/2 weeks and have not lost a pound! Did that happen to anyone else and did they start losing after that? On the beachbody.com message boards there are so many suggestions for eating more v. eating less. I was eating about 1200 cal/day when I started but kicked it up to about 1800 because I…
