Cookies. I forego a lot of the candy I used to eat, because my body is so much more sensitive to the sugar hangover. But cookies? I know I'll feel ill afterwards, yet still have way too many. Sigh.

Thanks! The munchkin was a fairy for Halloween; she still asks to wear the wings. :)

That I am an apology from God. Random, not silly, but the best compliment I have ever received.

Purée with cilantro, mix in Greek yogurt, a little lemon juice and some black pepper -- yummy dip for veggies.

Today. I blame TOM. I really hate that guy.

THIS. If he's not measuring up, cut him lose rather than wait for him to figure his wants out -- if he wanted you like you deserve, you'd know it. I'm sorry, though, because I know it still hurts. If only it were as easy as turning our emotions off once we knew they were taking us someplace unhealthy! Set yourself free,…

I hate that question. It automatically places the onus on YOU, like having a boyfriend is the natural state and you're somehow off by not having one. I have no good answers...people tend not to want to hear the truth, they just think they're being nice.

Do you see your "fat clothes" as a shield? That tossing them and wearing more fitting clothes exposes more of you (I'm not talking skin), that people might notice you in ways you're not yet prepared for? Edited for typo

And I can understand that! I'm talking about only eating 600 calories total -- not net. Literally logging more calories burned than ingested. I know there are a couple people on this site that think that's healthy if you've got enough stored fat to burn, but I just can't get behind it.

Treat yourself nicely. Have a little treat, take a bubble bath, read a fun book. You can stick with this.

Hahaha!

Also used in a more generic "dear heart"

I want to reach into my computer and smack all the people that post "WTG!" and "good job" to a particular individual who routinely eats 600-800 calories (and doesn't eat back calories from her huge workout sessions) when they see the "so-and-so was under their calorie goal today" message. Read the food log, people!!! And…

As much as my nutrition has improved, I still won't feed my daughter everything i'll feed myself (room for progress). I am still powerless before a box of Thin Mints (or the WalMart off-season knockoff). Right now I REALLY want to bake cookies, and will probably do it (and eat way of many).

Both. I have an agenda in mind -- what large batch(es) am I going to make to freeze? I like to have lots of 2-cup Pyrex bowls of soup or other dishes rich in veggies and beans waiting in the freezer so I can always have something healthy & delicious to take to work for lunch, or if I don't feel like cooking (which is…

Drop dead healthy, by AJ Jacobs. Hilarious author, but I've got to say, I think his earlier books are funnier. Still snort-worthy, though.

I use Amazon all the time, and have never had a problem with the free shipping. I bought an elliptical from Overstock, and it arrived in perfect condition. Do it! :)

Congratulations to you for making such a huge, difficult and healthy change. And THANK YOU from a person who gets literally nauseated every time I'm forced to breathe that stuff. You're setting a strong example for your son. (edit for typo)

Short of finding a guy who used to be heavy and is not just as interested in fitness as you are, I think you're going to have to learn to make the distinction between a guy who would not have been attracted to the overweight you because that's just not what draws his eye initially, and a guy who doesn't believe overweight…

Sigh. Never mind...same stuff (although more polite, which is nice). Was hoping for some insight into why this is so contentious, but it seems to just come down to some people finding the concept of weight as a measurement system to be invalid. Oh well...

If there's a thread that already explains this, feel free to link to it.

Skipping to the end, because I really need to be getting back to bed instead of lurking on MFP -- but a lot of folks are pissed when people who never acknowledged them while fat suddenly hit on them while thin. That prompts a tirade of "if you can't handle me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best", which is usually…

Roasted chickpeas! I have some soaking on the stove tonight and a couple recipes to try tomorrow so I can make them myself...going to try curry and chipotle, yum!

If you've struggled with depression in the past, are you getting help for it now? Untreated (or improperly treated) depression could be magnifying all your perfectly normal feelings about leaving home. I, too, left under a less-than-an-ideal relationship with my mom. It was a few rough years, but now we're really close. I…

Too many to count...love the cookie ones (cookie dough, cookies & cream, etc,), and Hagen daaz's piña colada is AMAZING. But I'm also a fan of homemade ice cream using almond milk, a little vanilla & almond extract, and a little honey for sweetness...it's not quite creamy, but not quite sorbet-like, either. I don't know…

I read the reviews, and it sounds like most of the book is about the WHY, vs. the HOW. A lot of people sure do like it, though!

Thanks, that was going to be my next question. :) I just finished reading the 5x5 plan, and it didn't have anything in there about HOW to do the exercises. I need visuals, so thanks for the leads. Am off to the store to buy a bar and some weights!
-
Interesting...it sounds like the bod pod isn't as spot-on as my exercise physiologist would have me believe. Unfortunately, it's all I have easy & free access to. But I breathe a big sigh of relief that I might not actually be 34% fat at my size. I still think it's time to pause the weight loss and work on strength for a…

Question for Rae (or anyone else who knows) -- to calculate lean body mass (so I know how much protein to shoot for), is that considered muscle only, or everything that's not fat, or something in-between? I've seen estimates for bones, internal organs, etc., but the only number I have semi-hard data on is the fat. So if…

Thanks. I did 1 without thinking about conserving muscle -- too late to do anything about that now, but since my muscle is already so low, I want to learn how to do 2, then go back to 1 or 3. Seems stupid at this point to risk losing MORE muscle, since I don't think I can afford it at my size...not to mention my body could…
