Random note--my parents divorced, and for a few years, my father spoke disparagingly of my mother, but my mom always stayed classy. I respected that as a kid, and I respect it more now as an adult. Also, I had a very happy childhood with her as a single parent--living with one happy parent is WAY better than living in a…

THIS. Pride of ownership is not love.

Oh, honey--being afraid of not finding someone else is no reason to stay in abusive relationship. Do you want to set that example for your kids? It tells them that's how they should treat people, or expect to be treated. Get out. Love yourself, make a better life for you and your kids, and you WILL find someone else.

I almost never agree with what this guy says--and I agree with this.

This is NOT helping you.

I would be consulting a divorce attorney NOW. You need to know what steps to take to protect yourself financially, legally, and re: child custody. Then, depending on what the lawyer said was best for the state you live in, I'd change the locks or take my kid and move out. You are in an abusive relationship. In case you…

Love co-ed workouts. Never underestimate the power of eye candy to get me to put in just a little more effort. Plus, while women and men can both be catty, men tend to act more protectively towards women -- whereas women might think someone is being a byatch, I think they're less inclined to speak up or act on it than a…

Talk to your therapist about your calorie intake, too. Sometimes just being accountable to someone else helps-- either way, he/she should be ble to help you come up with a plan. If you can't make yourself eat a lot, make what you eat count and get high-calorie, healthy foods in there, like nuts, avocado, eggs, etc. Carry a…

I'm 5'6", started out at 165, and am now in "maintain" mode between 140-145 while I try to focus on building back more muscle (think I lost a lot during 2 years of medical-induced inactivity -- 145 looks a lot different on me now than it did 10 years ago). Once I build more muscle, I'll go back on a deficit to cut a little…

I think I love you.

Kytte (how odd, iPad autocorrected your name to "Mutts"), here's an idea. Run the numbers for him (BMR, TDEE) and get calories burned estimates for him doing the same activity you do. Lay it out on a spreadsheet, or whatever format his brain works in. Once he sees how much more he has/gets to eat just to survive, and how…

Box stores that check your receipt on the way out -- umm...I paid for it, therefore it is now legally mine, and you don't have the right to search it without cause. Plus it's really insulting. I'm talking to you, Costco -- that's the only reason you don't get my money. Smokers that make me walk through their…

What do you use? Some powders have a nasty taste; it might be time to try a new one. I usually stay away from the chocolate flavored ones and go with plain or vanilla, the use whatever spices I like -- chai blend, pumpkin pie, plain cinnamon & nutmeg, whatever.

Try it and see how you feel. Some people do better with no breakfast, but I need it. And making it a protein-rich meal makes me feel so much better th rest of the day! Because I'm short on time & motivation in the mornings, and because my stomach doesn't lke much food that early, I go with a protein smoothie.

Woohoo! You look great -- and standing much more strong and confident!

This is great!!!

YES. Thankfully this isn't happening to me, but I see it all the time -- especially when any of my co-workers tries to quit smoking. All the other smokers gang up on them, constantly pressuring them to smoke. It ticks me off. In retrospect, I'm sorry to say I think I was one of those unsupportive people, Counting calories…

Personally, I think MFP's default macros are a bit wonky -- one mango sets me over my sugar limit for the day. If you're avoiding fat for another reason, I don't have much to offer other than carbs. If you just want to avoid unhealthy fat, nuts and avocados are great sources of calories and healthy fats. Remember, your…

You need to rest now and then -- the body does need time to recover, and it sounds like you've been going non-stop for a while. Another cause of exhaustion could be inadequate nourishment. Kicking up my protein at breakfast gave me a huge boost of energy, but we all work in different ways -- just make sure you're getting…

If you go with this dress, I think the shoes are distracting. Something with smaller straps, maybe? Do you know where the party is going to be, and what the activities are?

For me, it came down to giving my body the nutrition (specifically, breakfast & more protein) to work properly. Then I had more oomph, and the thought of dragging my butt over to the elliptical wasn't as bad. Then I did the elliptical every day for a week -- and suddenly I had tons of energy. With energy comes motivation.

Faith...or curiosity.

Ok, that didn't work -- here's the full poem. For context, the dude had his leg amputated. Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My…

"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul" The last two lines of Invictus -- a truly amazing poem. Will see if I can attach.

I eat ice cream several nights a week. The key is, I make my own, so I can make it as low or high in calories as I want. It usually runs about 150 calories for 2 cups of deliciousness. Tonight, though, I turned my protein shake into caramel & peanut butter ice cream because I had a low-protein day (poor planning on my…

^This. But I do low-to-no impact stuff at home, like the elliptical or yoga. If I ran, I'd wear shoes; I like the support and cushion. *ETA: Plus, my morning sessions consist of my hitting my alarm and stumbling out of bed to the elliptical machine -- the fewer steps involved (I.e., putting on socks & shoes), the better!

So don't run. There's a million other active things you can do to stay fit. Unless you have a goal of running a marathon, or you have a job that requires you to be able to run very fast/very far, running is self-inflicted torture. Change it up. Go to a climbing gym & wall climb for an hour. Take a kickboxing class. Go…
