  • Nice work, Everybody! First thing I noticed was how pretty much everybodys eyes look bigger and brighter in the After pics. Almost like the cheeks were closing the eyes slightly in the Before pics. Again, good job, All. Keep up the good work. Here's me down ~35lbs. A work in progress.
  • Just tell them you're diabetic and have to watch your sugar carbs. That usually shuts them up right away.
  • 1 lb a month is respectable weight loss. Remember, there is no time limit therefore there's no rush. I'm not even on pace to lose 52 lbs in 52 weeks. I've lost 38 lbs in 10 months. No big deal; at least i'm not gaining. and I'm not missing any of my fave foods so no cravings. Weight loss is more like a marathon than a…
  • I'm tired of being the fat guy of the group. Or being called "Big Guy" Or sitting on a folding chair and wondering if it will hold me. Or not fitting on amusement park rides
  • One response my daughter told me that works pretty good is "Well, I'm diabetic and I have to watch what I eat". And everybody instantly nods and understands and drops the subject. One convo I had over dinner went like this... Friend: I see you're having salad. Eating healthier, huh? You know, that salad dressing is…
  • 1-1.5lbs a week loss is phenomenal. This isn't Biggest Loser; you won't get voted off for losing ONLY 1 lb a week. People shouldn't be in such a hurry to lose weight. It's not a race..well, if you want to think of it as a race, think of it as more like a marathon than a sprint. What's your hurry? It's not like you can stop…
  • A friend and I split a 12" works pizza and I had a beer with it. Went to DQ for a snack after. Did you know a small dipped cone is 330cals ?? Damn...
  • A 500 calorie daily deficit over 7 days = 3500 calories = 1 lb. of weight loss per week. Your pics look like you don't need to lose a lot of weight. Maybe a lb a week is too much for you?
  • I have short legs and when you combined that with my fat waist, I always had to buy pants that were 2 to 4" too long and then have them hemmed. This past weekend I was able to buy pants that fit right off the rack! I know, not such a big deal for some of you but it's probably the first time for me since I was a teen.
  • Since tonight is my cheat meal, I will be having meatball sandwiches. Kaiser buns with meatballs, marinara and provolone.
  • When you get them home, rinse them in 1 part vinegar:10 parts water. Soak them for 10 minutes and rinse with water to get the vinegar taste off then pat completely dry with paper towel. They will last 2-3 weeks in your fridge. EDIT- you can do this with all berries, cherries, etc.
  • If I have calorie room, I try to eat a protein-rich snack before bed. Cottage cheese comes to mind. Or celery and peanut butter. If I don't have calorie room, I drink tea or coffee. The hot beverage makes me sip it slowly.
  • Frame size definitely matters. Mike Tyson (in his prime) was 5'10" 220lbs. But he was solid. Many 5'10" guys with smaller frames would be fat at 220 lbs.

  • Maybe it makes the food taste like crap so you end up throwing up or not eating it. LOL
  • I have a small treat when I feel like it as long as I'm still within calorie range. I do have to stay away from pizza as I cannot for the life of me come away eating only one or two slices. :( Recently I started making my own out of pita bread or english muffins. That way I have small portions and not 3/4 of a medium pizza…
  • Neck, manboobs, arms, legs. Belly is smaller; noticable in front view (sides smaller), side view belly still overhangs but starting to see a difference. Seems like belly is last place.
  • Tell him that he will notice a difference after only one night. Truth. The difference is like night and day. With sleep apnea, even if you sleep for 8 hours, you're really only getting 2-3 hours of real, restful sleep. Hence the daytime tiredness, lack of energy.
  • If they are "homemade-ish" the old-school recipe probably calls for lard (spelled F-A-T) in the crust. And if they are made in the true style, they were probably deep fried in oil as opposed to oven-baked. Delish for sure, but I wouldn't eat them often.

  • There are MFP entries for teas, coffees, flavored waters, sparkling waters, etc. IMO, only water is water. If it has calories, it DEFINITELY shouldn't be counted toward your water totals.
  • New Brunswick in the house! Hello, Fellow Canadians.
  • Hard boiled eggs are the perfect quick food for me. I boil up a dozen and then keep 'em in the fridge right in the carton to grab'n'go as I need. Salt and pepper at my desk at work. Great for breakfast. Even have lowfat mayo in fridge at work if I wanna make egg salad for lunch.
  • Another use for coconut milk (not oil, I know) is to make dairy-free whipped cream topping. Put a can of cocnut milk in the fridge overnight. Open the can, there will be solid mass on top that separated from the liquid. Take this solid part, add drop of vanilla, a packet of Splenda and whip it up. Voila! I was told that…
  • Lemons/limes, oranges, melons, berries. Anyfresh fruit sliced up and infused into the water overnight makes a subtle taste...more than simple water yet not overpowering.
  • I'm lucky that I am a creature of habit so I can go a few days without logging and then put it all in in one shot. If I do eat out or somehting out of the ordinary, I'll log it as soon as I can after eating it.
  • I used to think I wasn't an emotional eater. My previous definition of an emotional eater was "Wah! I'm so sad. I'll eat this chocolate bar to make me feel better." But then I discovered I ate badly when I had a ****ty day at work. Usually I'll pre-enter my lunch into MFP; fully planning on a roast chicken breast and a…
  • I think anyone who didn't fall of the wagon for at least Christmas Day is not enjoying their life to the fullest. Yeah, you fell, but ot was lotsa fun tumbling down in the weeds. You fell, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get right back on that wagon.
  • I used to be a big morning juice drinker until I found out that a glass of OJ or AJ had just as much sugar as a glass of Coke. Nowadays I eat an orange or apple so I at least get some fiber with my sugar.
  • 52 going on 12 here. ;) And welcome!
