  • ps - I made the carrot cake form cook yourself thin (310 calories for 1/9th of the cake - a huge piece) and took it to a party, and got RAVE reviews.
  • I also love the cook yourself thin cookbook. I do a lot of lasagna (from CYT) and no harm eggplant parm from hungry girl. I also do turkey chili and freeze that. There's also a great stuffed shell recipe in CYT (also freezes well). My boyfriend, who isn't on a diet, loves all these things - he just eats more than one…
  • everyone's right, tomorrow is another day. I love barilla cheese tortallini. I used to eat it all the time before MFP. I would probably have done the same thing, but since I have understood that I have no self control, I just don't make these things anymore.
  • cook yourself thin has a great recipe for mashed potatos with cauliflower - cuts the calories and is realyl good. I actually made it with purple cauliflower that I got at the farmer's market, and I bet you could also use purple potatoes (my favorite growing up) and it would be super fun for the kids. I also found a mashed…
  • what's the update on the kitty front?
  • bump bump bump
  • I actually have always been lactose intolerant - my parents found out when I was 6 months old and hadn't grown appropriately. I was then switched to a special formula or something. For the lonest time growing up I hated milk since it made me feel bad, but as an adult, I have rediscovered it and other than a little gas,…
  • chocolate milk is one of my favorite things on the planet!!! Yumm
  • I actually just read in a magazine today that chocolate milk is proven to be effective at helping your body recover from workouts because it has protein and sugar, and makes a second workout more effective (if you do more than one in a day).
  • tell us more on the taurine? what are it's effects?
  • to be completely honest, I do eat a lot of dairy products (I want to support the industry I work for and love), but I also drink almond milk with cereal as it is lower in calorie and just as yummy as milk, and soymilk on occasion. Cow's milk is not right for every person and certainly everyone has their own opinions.
  • Interesting reference. There is no endorsement on the website by the American Medical Association, and I also am surprised that the only references sited are written by the founder of the site. Those two articles are also not from a peer reviewed journal, meaning that no other scientists or doctors had to approve the…
  • I'm a veterinarian and I work a lot with dairy farmers and dairy cows. I would never drink organic milk because I see the lower quality of milk that is put into that system on a daily basis - when you can't treat a cow with antibiotics when she has an infection in her udder, it makes the milk pretty gross. I would just not…
  • congrats. I'm finishing up week 3 right now and love it. I don't use the podcasts - I didn't really care for the one I could listen to online and then didn't feel like going through the effort of downloading and listening to the other ones. I just put a lot of upbeat songs on my mp3 player. Although I do use a treadmill,…
  • drinks tons of green tea!!!
  • I am also doing the couch to 5K as an attempt to mix up my exercise routine. Normally I do a lot of work on the elliptical and the work I am doing for the C25K feels totally different when I am working on the treadmill. Good luck, but I don't think it would have the same results.
  • sometimes I wonder if these "no kill" shelters are really fair to the animals. what kind of life is being kept in a cage for years without a real home? Sometimes I wonder if the quality of life is really there and if the animal is happy. I would never want to have to put down animals that have a chance of finding a good…
  • I'm a vet in upstate NY and the shelters around here are begging people to take animals and provide good homes. Sounds like this shelter might need to loosen up a little so people interested in providing good homes aren't scared away by the red tape and hoops to jump through.Good luck, I know you're already attached…
  • I just looked at the cooking light website and found recipes for mashed turnips, turnips gratin and maple sage glazed turnips! I don't know which to try first!
  • do you add butter/milk when you mash them? thanks:happy:
  • I have several: ice cream - I now only buy the skinny cow cookies and cream sandwiches. I also got my boyfriend to buy Edy's slow churned french vanilla for his house so that dessert there is also low calorie donuts - the staff in my office love to get dunkin donuts. A plain glazed donut is 180 calories, so if I have no…
  • I always order unsweetened iced tea as a drink when I'm out - no calories there and I feel like I'm part of the group when ordering drinks. My boyfriend's family goes out for wings every thursday and that meal's been hard to work into the calories for the day. I always go to the gym for a big workout beforehand and limit…
  • yeah, mine is not near any of the dairy products too. I don't remember exactly where, but I doubt there's a huge difference in how walmarts are laid out. Mine is in one of the first 4-5 aisles near the front of the store, on the side closest to the meats. Definitely not a place I would normally think to look.
  • did you just drink it straight? I'd love to hear how this works for you!
  • I splurged and had some challah at the oneg after services along with one cookie. They were just such a comfort since they reminded me of home. Also had one obligatory apple and honey. totally worth it.
  • bump - this is awesome. I am going to have to get some flax and protein powder to make these ideas keep me full as long as possible.
  • I love almond milk!!!! Even walmart has it, and it's nice that you can leave it in the pantry and not really worry about expiration until you open it. I also prefer it significantly to soymilk since I hate the texture of soymilk.
  • I'm on week 2 of the program and haven't really liked them either, i just watch the time on the treadmill.
  • I just finished week 1 of couch to 5K, and it's good to know that you're having such a good experience with it.
  • it may be a good idea to start eating them in case the extra calories burned are putting your body into starvation mode. My suggestion would be to not eat them if you're loosing weight. If you reach a plateau, it may help you to get over it if you start eating another 200 or so calories
