Hi, I'm Julia - live on the Yorkshire Coast in the UK. I love cooking and baking in particular and do still have cake, only smaller pieces I love entertaining too and can happily spend hours menu planning - am currently doing my Christmas season menus and apart from the traditional Christmas Lunch, I'm doing lots of…

Oh my, your judgey pants must be pulled up so high I'm surprised you can breathe.

I'm 5'8" and weigh 161 (size 14). Started on 17 May at 189 (size 18). Feel free to add me but my progress is so slow now. 1 lb a week at the most, but at least it's in the right direction!

Hi mine is to be a 34" waist as that's what the Dr on This Morning says is the important measurement - more important than BMI. 1" to go.
-
Hi I cook everything from scratch too. It's healthier and its cheaper, plus it tastes much better. No brainer for me really. Though my husband loves processed stuff too. His idea of fine dining is a fray bentos pie and a packet of smash :o)

Is he controlling in other ways or is this a one off?

I weigh every day and log once a week. Works for me.

Morning from the Yorkshire Coast. The sea is like a millpond this morning - beautiful.

^^This. I'm going to the athletics on Saturday and I will make a point of cheering for the USA athletes too as it appears noone in their mother country really gives a toss.

I'm in too. I've lost a bit since I joined MFP but another 25lb would take me exactly to my target of 145. I'm 5'8, 46 years old and currently 170

Just got back from 3 weeks in Spain and gained 7.4 lbs. Am gutted but have logged on and will work hard to lose it.
-
I've just come back today from 3 weeks in Spain and have put on 9lbs. I didn't even go that mad so am quite qutted. But never mind, back to it tomorrow. Will weigh again in the morning and start to repair the damage.

Hi, welcome. I'm 46 too, started 4 weeks ago and have lost 12lbs. Kids have a lot to blame for, but then again so have McDonalds.

I think you have to decide if you like booze more than you hate being fat. It's as simple as that for me. I LOVE the beer but I hate hate hate my belly.

He's not babysitting some kids you know - they're his too! I know all about the guilt though and next time he chucks it back in your face I'd tell him to jog on. Seriously. All that passive aggressive nonsense has no place in a healthy marriage but I do understand how you forget who you are when you have kids. Confidence…

It is a good feeling Christine and as the weeks gone on it had got easier. We had a Jubilee Street party on Monday and one of my neighbours brought some home made rhubarb wine. It sounds disgusting but it was gorgeous. Of course I had one and then had another, and another. One's never enough for me - I have to finish the…

Hello Jugar - I've cut down massively last 7 days 5 of them haven't drunk a drop. It's been really hard though. On the upside, I now wake up instead of coming round eventually :o) Good luck xxx

I'm here too. This place is amazing - so many people losing so much weight. Maybe there is hope for my lardy *kitten* after all.

Three nights now without alcohol. I can't say I've missed it that much (excepting about 6pm when I REALLY want a glass) but I sleep so heavily and wake up feeling groggy and headachey. I think that over the years I've slept very lightly prolly because of the wine and now that's out of my system I'm sleeping like the dead.…

First night last night where Uncle Alcohol didn't visit! I felt SO good this morning. But I got on the scales and I'd put 1lb 4oz on. Gah - that will teach me not to get on them every morning.
-
Good to meet you and good luck. You can do it, you've done it before.

Hi, I'm 5'8, 46 years old and a mum of 2 kids. I started 10 days ago at 190 and am now 183. My goal is between 142 and 147 which is 10 st 2 to 10 st 7 in old money! That's what I was 8 years ago and I looked great. Now, I'm glad I've started this - it feels like a massive weight off my mind (pardon the pun) but I need to…

I'm with you though I bet it will be a bloody nightmare giving up my wine on an evening. I start thinking about a drink at about 6pm and really look forward to it. 7up just isnt the same!
