I was there too, and with a nutrition and hydration plan that allowed me to finish. I also crashed at mile 40 on the bike but was back up and on the go quickly-amazed by the bike support. I did Lake Placid in 2010 and don't think I saw a bike support vehicle once. There was serious carnage on this course so congrats on…

When you're sitting at your desk or anywhere for that matter, put your feet flat on the floor in front of you and tap your toes. Do it as often as you can.

I'm curious where the funding for this study came from. Knowing the inflammatory effects, I remain skeptical about the value of milk although I do agree that whole, non-pasturized from grass fed cows is the way to go if you're gonna imbibe.

I've tried it and Fitbit devalues CF WODs.

I'll gladly provide some post race IMKY intel. This will be my second Ironman. I did Lake Placid in 2010 and had both my knees fully reconstructed in 2011 so I'm not expecting a stellar run but I can share any details you think might be helpful for your 2013 date with 4th street live. Good luck on the 11th!

Not that I buy into the concept entirely but I just learned this week that I'm O+ and over the years have struggled with gluten, dairy, and felt downright awful when I ate a vegetarian diet. I'm also an avid exerciser, I always knew I felt better doing it...who knows if there's any relation to my blood type. There's no way…

Pure egg white protein is the most bioavailable and cleanest from all the looking I've done. And, it's just got one ingredient on the label.

Foam roll your posterior chain, and make sure you're not toeing your pedals.

Transition practice is key! I think I could have watched a sitcom in my first T1 I was so slow. It's a short race so be comfortable being uncomfortable and remember, if it was easy everyone would do it.

AM: 20 full squat snatches at 85% (75lbs) every 30 seconds until complete (dumped twice) PM: 20 mile bike time trial

I'm headed to Louisville for Ironman Kentucky in 3 wks so I accept the challenge and my plan is to knock it out in one day!

Foam roller!!!!!!

I've been using a fitbit and it devalues non cardio exercise but since I'm trying not to eat back my exercise calories I suppose it doesn't matter other than it's fun to see how many calories I burned.

Nice inspiration ladies. I'm still laughing at those "dumbbells"! We just did a bunch of 1 RM's and after almost a year of recovering from two major knee surgeries and working on my endurance for an upcoming Ironman, i'm feeling okay with my weights. Here's what I've got: Deadlift 250 lbs Power Clean 135 lbs Squat Clean &…

I have drawers full of workout clothes but the only items I ever want to wear are my LuLu Lemon pieces. They're worth every penny.

Warrior Dash isn't the only obstacle/mud run available, there's Spartan Races, Tough Mudder, Urbanathlons, Guts 'n Glory, etc... so something else may be in your area. If you do a Google search or check with your local gym, or running stores you may find one close to home and not have to wait.
-
You really like to plan races far out! I just did one in June, they're packed with people so be prepared to wait at the obstacles a little especially if you go off in a later wave. Warrior Dash is mass marketed and very doable, I'd even say easy so have fun with your family and enjoy the mud.

watching the buddy lee you tube videos was helpful for me

I haven't done a total for a while since I'm working on endurance-Ironman Louisville but the last time I did it was: Back squat: 165 Deadlift: 250 Press: 85

I don't treat a 5k any different than a workout since it's a pretty short event. If I'm racing a distance or doing an event that will take me longer than 3 hrs then I like to add a sweet potato to my dinner the night before and add some salt. Good Luck

It's expensive but worth every penny to get my *kitten* kicked and keep me honest so I pay $150 for CrossFit and $42 for my local globo gym only because it has a pool and I need to swim indoors off season for triathlon training.

I've never really thought about a weekly goal but I burned 4409 calories today.

If you really need to keep some fruit in your low carb plan then berries are best but limit them, sugar from fruit can add up quickly. You mentioned Paleo in your topic and Paleo suggests eliminating dairy.

I feel so strong doing deadlifts, my current PR is 250 but the lifts that really excite me are Olympic lifts. I love the feeling I get when I know my technique is perfect and the lift feels easy, even if I'm working at 87-90%.

I'm doing IMKY in Aug. What a fun forum to follow.

I was stuck too and typically burn 8000-10000 calories a week exercising. Upping my intake of low glycemic index veggies, eliminating sugar (fruit included) as well as grains was really helpful, as was changing my workout styles to include more high-intensity intervals some days as opposed to traditional cardio and group…
