Why? Why you repeat yourself? I looked liked a sticky button! I would never lie bout beans on toast, it is a really healthy meal,I'd be more tempted to lie if it was like, a KFC bargain bucket!! Thanks for the responses. I will try and do always as much truth as possible.

lol kaxfenix, i think you have quoted many more times than was intended! Yeah, i quote like having my diary public because then I can get advice and things, but then again if i occasionally wasn't honst no one can give good advice of it. So i will try and keep to honesty in future, for example today!!xxx

You can shop at the Gap but less so hip hop... that's cultural appropriation! Jokes! haha. I would understand if you woke up black and said aww crap, why have I been made a colour not a person, I don't understand why you feel bad about it thouh, waking up white is not a bad thing... it's probably a good thing, it could be…

I know black people aren't literally black, neither are white people literally white. We aren't golly ragdolls and china dollies! I don't think the science of light is very important at all to racial identity, but you are right that darkness of blackness (or browness if you insist!) is an issue.
-
I don't hate white peoplem basically all my friends are white. I just am not too fussed on the old racism is all. I am never going to agree with everyone about this, I have said everything I need to say, I just think people sometimes picking out what they want to pick out and not even engaging with anyones points, like…
-
I don't think blacks can oppress white people in the same way as the other way round, because white people still have the balance of power on their side in the wider social context. A black person can discriminate against a white person though. I suppose it depends on whether we are defining racism as needing that…
-
Ooooh, so you're both saying racism against black people did happen in the past, but it is finished now? Yeah, racism was WORSE in the past but it still happens on a significant level. Against people of colour not white people. That is a fact, no?
-
It's BS to say black people are more affected by racism that white people? No, don't think it is. We've been through this, Tammi put it so much better than me, but it is about refusing to be a shamed in a world that often sees you as second best. Nothin wrong in it.
-
I'm with Britlocs on this one. Kara xx mentions if a black family don't want their daughter dating a white guy, is it exactly equivilant to the reverse situation. I think...... white people can be discriminated against for their race (it diesn't happen often, but I am not saying never) as can straight people, men,…

I would say that some demographics are affected more than others as victims of racism- white people aren't victims as often or usually as powerfully as people of colour. I don' think blaming or guilt tripping or playing victim/aggressor is the way though, it is about working together everyone to a society that will benefit…
-
I'm not sure that racism flows both ways because their are wider power balances in society than mean a discrimination against a white person isn't really the same, it isn't oppression and I am tempted to say it is not really racism. It is still discriminatory though, i wouldn't endorse it at all. I think lack of pejudice…

I think it is ridiculous to say people of all genders can't be friends, I would never be in a relationship so insecure that I couldn't even talk to other people.
-
I am still wondering what it is about this, I am not knocking the rest of it, but surely not the last line there people are agreeing to, no?
-
A few people liked this post, I don't know if they meant the last line, I am still confused what straight white male needs promoted in particular. Well said Britlocks!I understand tht colour blind thing, it is great that it isn't relevant to lots of people. But it doesn't mean pretending race and societies view of it has…
-
I don't think so, it was invented by black feminists in the USA. I'm not saying you have to use it or that everyone likes it, just saying it isn't the same as coloured people.
-
We have that here a little bit. I sort of like it in a way, thought I'd still use black first. I know if sounds like coloured but it isn't; your mother is very sensitive but this term has a different background. because one thing, it comes FROM the people it describes, rather than used by other to label us. Plus PoC means…
-
Interesting discussion about the terms. Just to clarify, I said black because I am British, not American, so African american is not relevant at all. Most people in the UK are settled on the term black, it is the correct one. Interesting point, I have heard a few people trying to describe someone tiptoeing round these…
-
Yeeeah! I started this and I am in england so I don't say african american. Here people say black, or Afro caribbean. Some people say people of colour, and I am undecided what i feel about this term.
-
I agree. We all have different privileges in life. That means things being geared in your favour or not. EG. I have Male privilege, but I don't have white or straight privilege. It isn't a competition, and I know people get un easy talking about it because they think 'privilege' means an accusation of being personally…
-
UndercoverShy, Being non white isn't more 'glamourous', I wouldn't particularly wish to be a different race. I think it'd be hard for anyone to wish they were a different race for real because no one really knows what it is like to be another race but the one they are! Not having a go, just saying, be happy what you are :)…

Ha ha, people always say this stereotype of black people and fried chicken. Especially fat black people. This is where I am a stereotype!!! I love it, lol. I didn't happen to mention but I live in the UK. I suppose race issues are similar in UK and USA but maybe also is subtle differences. Oh wow, I am getting so wrapped…
-
[/quote] I see what you mean, I think it ican be hard for white people to give their view on issues because, as you acknowledge, it is not something you have experience of, and also sometimes people in the discussion can be quite quick to judge and suggest the person is bad if they say something wrong/they dont agree with.…
-
YES, everything you just said, you clever, clever person!! :D I indentify with the many and various influences that make me meeeee. xxx
-
Aww... good on you rising above it. I think it is a shame we have a world where likes and interests can identify you with one race more than another, it shouldn't matter, this is the problem, people got ideas about what black and white should be like. I think people should be able to know and appreciate their background…
-
^^^^^^ YES! Like when people complain about black and asian doctors. Would they complain if they woke up in intensive care to find a non white doctor saved their life? OMG! xxx
-
I agree. But if you aren't white or look white sometimes it is harder for other people not to see it as a big part of your identity, like I suppose people sometimes see you as the black one, when it is a white majority. I suppose part of why I posted this was thinking about how for white people they don't need much to…
-
May I ask a little about what this means? Just trying to get more insight. It's a tricky one, like I think black people got a right to learn about our history and celebrate our culture, and to talk openly about issues like oppression and racism, without being made to feel bad for making some white people uncomfortble. I…

Feminists have it right, I mean, gender equality is to aim for! But telling other women how to behave is not feminism. I do think some groups are still not equal in society, even though progress is being made- like, people of colour, gay people, transgender people etc. and it is right to fight for equality and work towards…

Stuff I have cried at because it is just so emotional and touching: Stories about poorly children in true life story mags, A documentary where a monkey got seperated from it's mum. My mother giving me a hug Talking to a beetle like it was a person The song Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, A winnie the pooh .gif Sometimes I…

This is what I mean. You definitely aren't a failure MP, you are doing everything you can. It sounds like the meds make it hard for her to control eating and when a child is 14, they have a lot of independence and parents can't control everything. It is hard not to be shocked seeing an overweight child but I think…
