My daughter is on a Rotary exchange in New Zealand and we were texting during the game; great fun given the distance between Idaho and New Zealand. Damorzacon, I hooked one game without ever practicing at the position. What a nightmare! I was 142 pounds at the time; pencil-necked geeks shouldn't hook if they don't know…

Where do you play? Somewhere in the South, I'm guessing. What position?

I played at UC Davis back in the '80s. I was a scrub on our C and D sides, and then I coached our C forwards the next year. Played back my first year, played breakaway the next two, and loved it.

Do former, broken-down rugby players count? And no, I wasn't there, but I did watch the RWC Finals at a bar in my town, consuming all my calories for the day while yelling at the TV.

Running burns more calories than walking. You are working harder and require more fuel.

I've lived in Moscow, Idaho since 1994 and still never done Bloomsday. I was thinking about it this year but am supposed to be in Portland until Saturday. Plus our Ren Fair is that weekend. Maybe next year!

Here's a link to an article: http://www.runnersworld.com/other-gear/runners-guide-jogging-strollers?page=single Consumer Reports has ratings but I can't get to them, not being a subscriber; maybe you can. 15 years ago I bought a jogger that looks a lot like the BOB Ironman, and it was great. I recommend large wheels, with…

I'm at 45.35 as of yesterday. Some travel this week, but I should get 50 in. Thanks for the challenge!

I'm at 32.7 with a run planned at lunch. Must figure out that ticker thing one of these days.

When I was visiting Missoula last year I went to Runners Edge to try on some shoes. They let me run outside in three different pairs of shoes; I believe they encouraged me to try them out.

4 today, 20.3 for the year.

I'm 50 now. I tore my ACL in 2001 and had a reconstruction that summer; my leg would bend the wrong way after the tear; without the ACL there was nothing to prevent that so I had to have the surgery. One of my friends has a torn ACL that he never repaired, but he doesn't have this problem. I didn't rehab well enough…

When I started running again I only ran on the treadmill. I picked up some injuries and started running outside instead. I enjoy running outside much more than the treadmill, and think I get a better workout.

12.3 after today's run.
-
I'm in, 8.2 miles so far.

I've logged it as a moderate walk.

I alternate running and lifting during the work week if that fits with you. Sunil

I would get rid of the cotton, and get something that wicks. I get almost all my running stuff at Ross; you pay much less for the same stuff. The cotton will hold your sweat against you and make you colder. Layer, wear gloves or mittens, and you'll find the cold isn't a problem.

TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure. MFP is MyFitnessPal

As you get fitter you will find you can go faster. You are a whole lot faster now than when you were sitting on your couch. We all run our own runs; don't get down on yourself, just work steadily and you will improve.

I had persistent calf issues a couple of years ago. I found this article, bought The Stick, and did the rehab he suggested: http://www.thestick.net/Articles/Calf_%20Heart_%20Attack.htm Haven't had issues for a little while, and use the Stick fairly regularly now. Good luck getting better.

How long was your longest run in the last couple of weeks?
-
You say your max is 168. Where did you get that number? Is it from a formula?

Ran today Avg HR: 166 Range: 117-227 Time: 27;38

Look at Altras. I bought the Instinct 1.5 in December; I think the women's version is the Intuition. Zero drop, but padded. I like my pair, and they're worth a look.

From Mark Bittman: Salt and pepper, then slather with Dijon mustard and saute in a little olive oil. My family really likes them this way, and it's very easy.

The important thing is that you kept running, despite the argument in your head. That's what matters, and that’s where you draw strength going forward. You were on a treadmill, and you could have stopped any time you wanted to. It’s not like when you’re outdoors; if you quit outside, you still have to get back to the…

I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl.

Stop talking; you'll confirm what people suspect. Start running. And your dad is right, your hair looks awful.

I usually eat most of them back, and I've been losing weight steadily since I started in April or May.
