  • I'm pretty sure I don't even know her whole story. I just feel bad that she seems to be suffering to my eyes. The clinic that she went to sent her around the supermarket to look at nutritional information panels and find foods that had less than 5g of carbs per 100g. Although I'm not sure if that's what they are setting…
  • I totally agree with everything, everyone has said in this post. Even the ones that are saying she's not sticking to it. I don't believe she is sticking to it because she keeps telling me things like "I got shaky on the way home so had a coke to help", or "It got to dinner time and I had a whole packet of biscuits". The…
  • I think the problem is she is always hungry and there is no way anyone can fight hunger forever. Ive already told her to go back but the doctor is pretty much saying stick to the diet and you aren't working hard enough. I've been saying that she needs to eat some fat but obviously with the orlistat that's not an option. I…
  • There are a lot of posts on here bashing the fitbit purely because it's expensive. Yes it's costly but if it does the job and gets you moving then it's worth it. Whether it works for an individual person is based solely on what motivates that person. I have an active job and i'm ridiculously lazy on days off. I use my…
  • this thread has made me hungry, I feel like a banana
  • I love the week right after my period. I can usually lose about 7lbs in that week alone. It's great for motivation especially when you know it's coming.
  • I always allow myself a treat every day. It's what lets me keep going.
  • I work in a hospital so quite often have to eat the food, and it's the most unhealthy mess of processed crap ever. Sometimes i think mcDonalds does a better job at serving food.
  • That if you eat nothing but "healthy" foods I get nowhere near my calories allowance and I'm always allowed a treat.
  • Sometimes I can gain 2 or 3lb between days. Sometimes it takes 4 days for a half lb gain to come back off. That's just the way it goes but if fluctuations upset you that much I think you need to stop daily weigh ins
  • That's been happening to me. I love it when they say that and I get to reply "Yes I am! 2lbs lost last week" then their face falls, no more smug grins, except the one from me.
  • 10 miles is a killer. I've managed it once or twice. I've been trying to get up to that for weeks now. Usually manage around 5 miles at work (NHS) but it's been around 2 weeks since my last 10 miler.

  • yes it's normal to have woken up with 500 calories burned. You are still fueling your body while you sleep. 250 steps seems a little high but I guess that depends on how far away your bedroom is from your bathroom. Are you putting it into sleep mode before you go to sleep. If not it may be counting sleep movements as…
  • it doesn't add every single calorie you burn. It only adds activity calories to MFP. If I go for a walk for about 30 minutes, I'll get around 40 extra calories
  • I would hate someone looking at my intake and "reprimanding" me. I beat myself up enough when i go over my calories. I don't need my "friends" commenting on it to. If I haven't logged in a few days I don't mind people reminding me they are here and that i should come back and log. But if i am logging then i am quite aware…
  • I wish starvation mode existed. I would love to up my calories and still lose weight. Just doesn't happen though.
  • so glad i found this thread. I found my first one yesterday and freaked right out. It was in my apron fold and my first thought was "oh no my weight loss has given me cancer" Then i got a grip! I didn't google it but I'm glad i now know what it is.
  • it depends on your size. If your maintenance is 1600 and you're sedentary then you won't lose any. Everyone is different.
  • I've also used the prescription version which, (Although I think it was called Orlistat here) is I believe 3 times stronger than Alli and have to agree with all of this. I had to attend a wedding while on this, and eating a normal meal from a set menu left me in the toilet for 3 hours. Warning TMI You also leave a lovely…
  • People used to tell me I didn't look like I was 16.5st and i genuinely believed them, and would say "Really? Thanks!". Yet when the same person said the same thing to someone who was "fat" I always thought they were just trying to flatter them. How could I not tell the difference, or rather that there was no difference.
  • I love this, it sounds like my logic too.
  • I also used to do the 5:2 and tell people I could eat whatever i want the next day. then when I stopped losing weight I changed it to 4:3 then it became alternate day fasting. Turns out I can't eat a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's even if I do starve myself the next day.
  • i sometimes weigh myself twice a day, I like to see the changes between morning and night. Also I know if I weigh myself at night and i'm less than 2.5lbs heavier I am almost guaranteed to have lost weight by the morning. I also use libra though, I do like to see the trends. Maybe I just like calculating the numbers, it's…
  • I think this is what everyone means when they talk about genetics making them fat. For years I went around saying my whole family is fat, they are all diabetic and prone to heart disease why fight the inevitable. It's completely true....except for the one relative who has been the exact same size since high school. Is he…
  • emmmm Thanks for the offer but I think i'll pass... :s
  • Nope I did not. I got extremely bored on my steamed chicken salads and I wanted something tasty so I went back to all the foods that made me fat. I can't really remember but I think it took me less than 6 months to gain it all back, so I'm sure a lot of it was water weight. However I think if you are the type of person who…
  • For a while there I bought into the whole low carb thing. Not quite as strict as Atkins but I had convinced myself that if I eat over 100g of carbs I'd gain weight. The only problem was I have a really sweet tooth. I'm not particularly fond of cheese, meat, cream and the like, so I was forcing myself to eat high protein,…
  • I hate hot liquids so i drink a lot of diet soda. Whatever it does to you I seem to be losing weight just fine on a calorie restricted diet even with the diet drinks.
