  • Go to a good running store and get your feet checked out. Just mention to them your budget constraint and your concern about weight and they should be able to get you into a pair of shoes that are good for you. Maybe not the perfect ones due to the budget constraints, but at the very least good. Really, everyone is…
  • You might want to try an incline push up. Use a table, a chair or whichever height challenges you and do push ups on that. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4coDbSYnuh4
  • For a 5-10km training run (or race) you don't need any specific food to keep your fueled for your run. So I make sure I don't eat at least half an hour before my run, or an hour if it's a big meal. That's all, no specific foods.
  • If your problem is not sticking to a diet then I don't see how a milkshake diet (which is even harder to do) will help you. I suggest logging what you eat, good or bad, every day for a month. From there you can make some changes to your diet. Maybe you eat little during the week and go all out over the weekend. Maybe that…
  • Just downloaded the update for iPhone.
  • That's just not true, not for the zumba classes I go to anyway, and I've seen 4 different instructors over the last half year. I've got no sense of rhythm and can't remember any of the songs, let alone the dance moves that go with them. I still spend at least 25% of the classes looking puzzled about what I'm supposed to be…
  • Ok, you got loads of answers about why it won't make you bulky and how your many shouldn't have to 'let' you do anything. But now for something that should finish this discussion with him without a fight. You, with more muscles, and him will have better sex. You're stronger so you can hold positions longer, better stamina,…
  • ^This. Everything new should be tried during training. So for Sunday wear what you would normally wear, eat what you would normally eat, warm up like you would normally do and don't sprint the first mile unless you normally do that. (Ie. Save your strenght rather than starting too fast). My brother in law is actually doing…
  • This is not true. It does differentiate between going up and down stairs. Only going up stairs is counted. Otherwise I would get a lot more stairs :)
  • ^This yes. Why would you try to get more water in if you're body is obviously not asking for it?!? As long as your urine is a pale yellow you're fine. Please can we do away with the 8 glasses myth already?
  • It won't really disappear, but it will fade away quite a bit, and with extra weight loss will look even smaller.
  • Just water :) If you've got a special outfit you want to fit in better for the first few hours after working out it might (might!) just have a positive effect, but on the long run, nope.
  • Yes you can drink too much water. My grandmother was admitted to the hospital at some point due to drinking to much water. And I know about a hazing accident where the recruits got water to drink rather than beer or other alcoholic drinks and one of them died due to water poisoning. The problem is that your losing too much…
  • Great job! Really, well done. See what you can accomplish if your set your mind to it? And the speed, it'll get better as long as you keep going. When I finished a couch to 5k I was at a speed where I was literally being overtaken by people walking their dogs. I'm still not fast but I can now outrun old people with…
  • If you're planning on doing both I'd recommend walking through mission 1 of the regular app first, because that'll start you in the story. After that first mission move over to the zombie 5k. Especially if your not used to doing any running that's a good place to start.
  • I'm open! Feel free to add me as a friend as well :) 5'10" CW: 170 GW: 143
  • I'm 5'10" as well, lost 19 lbs last year (after gaining that in 3 months time first :/ )and now ready to lose the last 10 - 20lbs. Feel free to add me.
  • We actually spend less when we're focusing on healthy eating compared to regular shopping. But it does take a bit more time and planning. There's actually quite a few healthy options that are cheaper than the less healthy ones, you just need to take the time to find them.
  • I would enjoy your holiday with your husband and eat like you're maintaining. Ie. Eat what you would eat if you're not on your diet anymore. That's the amount you don't gain any weight, nor lose any. That allows for some great elk burgers, but maybe not the double chocolate mouse icecream berry pie :) Ie. Pick some meals…
  • Move your weigh-in to the day after tomorrow? And otherwise as long as you're aware that part of what the scale tells you is water weight just take the number it gives you, your next weigh-in should correct it again.
  • BMI is a guideline that works on most people. For my length (5'10) there's a _50 lbs_ range of a healthy weight. Let me repeat a 50 lbs range of healthy numbers my scale could show. Yes, there are some small exceptions. But if you're a body builder that's been working for probably years to build up that muscle you'll know…
  • A fitbit is basically a complicated pedometer. It measures how many steps you take during the day. In contrast with most HRM you wear the fitbit the whole day (and if you want at night to track your sleep). It tracks all movement, most of which will be walking for most people. It's not very good at tracking heavy exercise…
  • I've lost about 19 lbs without seeing any difference besides on the scale :) I'm sure it's somewhere I've just not noticed where it went away from
  • ^This I think you've started over a number of times over the last year, and every time you start out with doing like 2 or 3 fitness programs at the same time and being very strict on eating. But as that's too far from your actual life it's very hard to sustain. So that might mean exercising 3 times a week, rather that out…
  • It's brilliant. :) I downloaded it only last week but did 5 days running after each other just to get into the story. Of course you still need to do the running yourself but there's that shock you get when you suddenly hear 'RUN! Zombies are after you". I notice I speed up instinctively due to the tone of voice (and good…
  • Lol, yes same for me And my boyfriend did the rest... :)
  • I'd put it down as walking stairs and than add like 5-10% calories for the lifting. Wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're doing this exercise every day. But suppose you're off by 500 calories (which would be a lot) that would mean about a day difference on your entire weight loss journey. So take a number which…
  • Yes. I lost weight just by running, or at least toned up, I didn't pay special attention to my diet. At the time I wasn't trying to lose weight, I was in a healthy BMI range, maybe a bit of the mushy side. I never used to weigh myself so I don't know how much I lost. But after doing a C25K variant friends started to…

  • I feel it's unfair to say that losing weight is easy, just because it was easy for you. If it really was that easy why are there so many people overweight? Yes, the theory is easy, eat less than you use and you'll lose weight, in practice there's a whole emotional, habitual and motivational side to it as well. Because to…
  • A friend of mine wanted a alcoholic drink during pregnancy and I was very very reluctant to give it to her. But she said it was fine, really really! So the day after I went and found research paper regarding the link between drinking while pregnant and the health of the baby. And actual all papers I could find said that a…
