Hi, Stacy; another Canuck here from the other coast. Welcome to the site, and congratulations on your pregnancy! :flowerforyou:

Did you make too many changes too quickly? This is not a diet that you do for a certain time and then stop; this is a new lifestyle. If you deprive yourself of favourite foods they will haunt you with cravings. Try to figure out why you want certain foods and then either work around them if you can, or have just a small…

There are some recipes floating around cyber space - haven't tried any of them yet but this one looks interesting: 2 T Sodium Free Beef Bouillon 2 t Red Wine Vinegar 1 t Molasses 1/8 t Ground Ginger ds Black Pepper ds Garlic Powder 3/4 c Water In small sauce pan, combine and boil gently uncovered about 5 minutes or til…

I think it depends what activity level you entered. If you're at "sedentary", definitely add it as exercise, but if your activity level is higher then it may already be accounted for.

Thanks again for all your kind words. Your stories made me laugh  Hugs to all of you! :flowerforyou:

Me too! It's my guilty pleasure because a lot of it is deep fried and full of sodium  but I still love it  There is quite a bit of Chinese food in the mfp database. You might have to guesstimate your favourite dishes. Other websites like the Daily Plate also have info. Portion control is one good way to go about…

Thanks for all the support. Whenever we take pets into our homes and our hearts we hope this day will never come but we know it does. It's hard right now but I will cherish the time we had together and the happy memories.

I have to keep changing things up every so often when I get stuck on the same weight for weeks. Good for you that you were able to analyze what's holding you back. :flowerforyou:

What other restrictions do you have? I find the elliptical really helps me burn calories fast; so does swimming. Hope you'll get better! :flowerforyou:

Exercise is not essential for losing weight, but it's good for you in many other ways. I wouldn't worry about specific walking programs, just walk whenever you can.

Sashimi, nigiri sushi, and plain rolls are fine (like salmon, tuna, cucumber or pickle) . Dynamite, California, Philadelphia rolls - not so good. Miso soup and/or sunomoni salad are great low cal appetizers, but watch out for the sodium. Enjoy!:drinker:

A personal trainer is a good idea, but if that's not possible, lots of gyms offer introductory sessions to weight training. I found that helpful as the amount of equipment can be pretty overwhelming if you try to figure it out for yourself. You could start in your home with squats, push-ups and sit-ups/crunches. Those…

Make sure you get your protein to help you heal, as long as you don't have to restrict it for other health reasons. Cottage cheese or yogurt with or without fruit, boiled eggs; home-cooked lunch meats like roast chicken, turkey or beef; canned tuna or salmon, are all easy to prepare and good for you. Protein drinks are…

Most important, give yourself time. Weight that didn't come on overnight doesn't go away overnight. And even weight that did come on relatively quickly can still take a long time to lose. Two years ago I gained thirty (30) pounds over a three months period because of the medication I was on (and I was already overweight…

That's a difficult challenge. WebMD is a reputable source of information; you may find some ideas through this link: http://www.webmd.com/search/search_results/default.aspx?query=sodium&sourceType=undefined Just scroll down a little. Good luck :drinker:

I would take it easy and control the amount of food I eat. With eating ahead there's always the chance (at least for me :blushing: ) that I see things I like and eat them anyway  You could also try to get an extra workout in earlier in the day, but most of all, enjoy and don't stress too much. If you eat sensibly…

After doing the same activities for a while our bodies get used to them. Clue: it's not difficult anymore  I've had to change things every couple months or so to get out of plateaus. I think you're on the right track - good luck! :drinker: Ohh - too early to spell - must-have-coffee! :blushing:

Congratulations! That's the best feeling because it shows how far you've come and all your hard work is paying off.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

How much sleep do you get? 7-8 hours per night is recommended. Not getting enough sleep is another risk factor for weight gain  That thought keeps me up at night...

Unfortunately healthy foods like fresh lettuce and spinach have also been known to be contaminated with nasties. Lucky to be able to buy locally from known and trusted sources!

Get some good, dark chocolate. It tastes much better, has less sugar and is more satisfying.
-
Congratulations! You've done really well. You're smart to break it up into smaller steps; that way you'll always have an accomplishment to be proud of. :flowerforyou:

Totally agree with the comments about sizes. And sometimes it's the cut - you said the dress that did fit you looked hideous; maybe it's just not a flattering style for you in any size. But don't worry; you will see a change in the way your clothes fit. I've been seriously working on exercise and fat loss since May 2009…

Does it happen every night? If so, save some calories from the day for a small treat. Hot milk with a teaspoon of honey is sweet and will also help you sleep. And analyze what you eat during the day. Maybe you need to finish off your dinner with dessert, could be fruit and cheese. Experiment a bit - the cravings will go…

Potatoes aren't bad for you; the stuff some people smother them with can be bad for you if you have too much. I love new nugget potatoes, boiled in the skin, and served with quark mixed with a bit of skim milk, salt and chopped chives,(German soft cheese, similar to cottage cheese but smooth instead of lumpy), and a little…

Are you a morning person or do you have to struggle to get up early for your workout? That could make a difference, and changing the time of your workout may be all you need to do. It's also a good idea to speak to your doctor to find out if you have iron deficiency or another health problem.

Bodies are amazing in the way they can adapt. I've been stuck on the same weight for weeks at a time as well, and the only thing to get out of the rut was to make a change. Once I upped my protein and decreased my carbs. That worked for a bit, then I was stuck again. I started to go to the gym and that jiggled the scale…

I find it confusing as well but this article makes sense to me. They reference the American College of Sports Medicine and it's written in plain English  http://whatscookingamerica.net/HealthBeauty/HighIntensityWorkout.htm

I usually do cardio on the elliptical followed by strength training. Upper body one day, lower body the next. I've recently started a Yoga-Pilates class once a week.

It depends on the surgery. Talk to your surgeon about things you can do and things to avoid. Generally, going for walks should be just fine. If there are no dietary restrictions go for lots of water and fibre to help you feel full. Wishing you a speedy recovery! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
