It's only possible if you ate 17,500 calories above what you burned. That's the equivalent of about 30 Big Macs on top of your normal intake. If you didn't eat that much, it's more likely water weight. Don't worry; one cheat day won't ruin your progress. :drinker:

Swimming, walking, tai chi come to mind. Have you talked to your doctor, or a physiotherapist? They could give you a better idea what you need to avoid. You can probably modify a lot of exercises for your needs.

I don't know what's the healthiest but if you're concerned about calories you'll probably want to stay away from Dynamite Rolls as they've got tempura prawn in them. Kappa maki with tuna, salmon, cucumber or Japanese pickle shouldn't be too bad.

I just discovered dark chocolate with goji berries - the BEST! A couple small pieces will do me...

I would highly recommend yoga both for its own benefits and also for the positive effect it has on other exercises. The flexibility and controlled breathing are very helpful in many sports. I find it complements and enhances my workouts.

Unless aliens have taken over your body and are controlling your actions, YOU decide what you put in your mouth. Could it be that you're so close to your goal you feel like rewarding yourself? You definitely deserve a reward, but make it something other than food. Remember why you started this - it wasn't just for the…

Maybe there's something you're eating that's holding you back. I was stuck at the same weight for over a month. I had got into the habit of having a glass of red wine in the evening. Hardly a skid row alcoholic, and I always logged it and was still under calories, but I was concerned about getting used to it so I decided…

Maybe it is, but it would be a good idea to make a doctor's appointment, if you haven't had a check-up recently, especially since it happened twice in a row.

Wow, you're organised :noway: I've copied your post - great ideas!:flowerforyou:

On those days it's even more important to drink lots of water and eat calorie-smart. Vegetables have few calories and a lot of bulk to fill you up. Oatmeal, boiled egg instead of fried, Ryvita or Wasa instead of regular bread - there are many ways to reduce your calories and still meet nutritional needs.

"There are three things to losing weight and getting in shape. 1. Changing your eating habits. 2. Cardio exercise for your heart and buring calories. 3. Strength training for muscle toning. Don't try to be perfect at all three right away." That's great advice! Changing one thing at a time, one day at a time, works for me.…

Well, I'm no expert but it seems to me that you eat some very calorie dense items and then you don't have calories left for in between. For most people it seems to work better to eat 4-6 times a day, and add more things that have a lot of bulk but not many calories, like vegetables and fruit. But if you're used to eating…

He won the jump rope competition?!? That deserves ice cream sundae for sure!:drinker:

How much were you eating before? If you feel deprived you're less likely to stick with the program. As this is not a "diet" but a lifestyle change it's ok to make small changes and work towards your goal of 1,200 calories. Everybody is different. For me, my love of food is my biggest motivator to exercise so I can eat more…

All is not lost - we all have days like that. Hope you feel better soon. This is a lifestyle change; stuff happens in life. Get back into your exercise routine when you feel up to it. If you haven't done so yet, now is the time to stock up on healthy snacks like fresh fruit and veg, so when you want to nibble on something…

Very true. Before we got all these "conveniences", we didn't have an obesity crisis. Now we use machines to carry us anywhere, and then pay money to go to the gym where we use other machines to help us lose weight

I always buy whatever little kids are selling (yes I'm a sucker :blushing: ) but when it's cookies, or those chocolate bars, I take them to work. We're a 24/7 environment and goodies never last very long, especially when the IT guys discover them

I work out after supper, so when I get home I need to eat something. Yesterday it was a bowl of strawberries with skim milk (I refuse to believe it's February - eating strawberries feels like summer  ) What you're describing as your evening snack sounds healthy and reasonable; go for it and if you find you don't meet…

It might also help for you to find what triggers your eating. If it really is hunger, the above tips of making changes more slowly are great. You might also want to look at what you're eating; eating a lot of simple carbs can send your blood sugar on a roller coaster ride and when your insulin spikes after a carb-rich meal…

Some of the comments here are actually quite cruel. Does it really hurt anybody else if a 70-year old woman wants to wear a bikini? If you don't like what you see, look somewhere else. Don't try to control other people's lives.

There are recipe analyzers around where you can enter your ingredients and it will get the nutrition info for your meal. I use this one: http://www.dietitians.ca/public/content/eat_well_live_well/english/recipeanalyzer/recipeanalyzer.asp There are others if you don't like this one; just google! :drinker:

It's hard when somebody is in denial, about any health concern. I wouldn't write doctors off so quickly; there are good ones who do keep up with health issues outside of prescribing pills and a physical work-up would be best to determine what's going on. There are other conditions such as PCOS that can mess with your…

The big weight drop some people see when they start their new routine is mostly water. Was this a big change for your body or had you already been eating sensibly and exercising? In that case it wouldn't have been such a big adjustment for your body. I totally agree with the above posts - it takes time. I've lost 19 pounds…

I like to use some of these machines but don't put much weight on. I don't want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger anyway, although I can do the accent (comes naturally  ) But I like the alternatives and will try some of them.

Frankly, I prefer to spend my money on a gym membership. I like variety and there are plenty of different machines at my gym, as well as free groups. When I'm at home I prefer to be outside - gardening or walking the dog, and when the weather is miserable or it's late at night there are always new free videos to try at…

Do you have a "10,000 Villages" store in your area? I love their dark chocolate. It's more expensive so I'm not tempted to eat lots (I'm cheap :blushing: ) and it's Fair Trade and organic. Win-win all around! PS: As an alternative, Lindt has various dark chocolates with different (but pretty high) cocoa content.

What are you normally eating for dinner? Chicken or fish has fewer calories and less fat than red meat. Not to say I never eat red meat, but I eat chicken and fish more often. Big helpings of steamed veggies don't add too many calories and help to feel full. Limit your portions of potato, rice, pasta. Use brown rice and…

Yes, the other day I added Camembert cheese to my diary and was pleasantly surprised that it had only 6 calories per serving :noway:  My wish list includes being able to go to the database, where you can see the nutritional info before entering a food, and then having a check box to enter the food directly from the…

You don't have to stop loving blueberry muffins. If you make them yourself, YOU control what goes into them and ultimately into your body. Try this link for healthy variations on favourite foods: http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?isid=1552

I've also had to take steroids off and on throughout my life and I find that they make me extremely hungry. I'm still working off the 30 pounds I gained the last time I was on prednisone :grumble: I think a slow weight loss is ok; it's more important to feel good and not stress your body more when you have flare-ups. It's…
