Good luck! You can totally do it! I just started back again at Christmas...I was over 100lbs down from my heaviest and then 2 years of grad school happened. I didn't know that the freshman 15 applied to grad school...as well as the sophomore 20, lol. But keep focused and the determination that got you where you wanted the…

One great way to start lifting is to use stronglifts 5x5. It focuses on 4 compound movement lifts and starts super light and gets progressively heavier each session. When I started lifting again for the first time since high school, I never got super sore and miserable.

I buy super cheap beanie and gloves from Wal-Mart and wear them to run. I shed the layer when I get hot and drive back to get them...being cheap takes the sting out when someone tosses them. Then on race day I do the same, except I trash them...and after using them and washing them throughout training the trash is an…

I used to take my beagles hiking and they would walk like a champ for 18 miles a day. I can't imagine a mile being too much.

As a former teacher/current administrator I totally get this. When I first started, I would work out in the evening so that I could run or lift heavy things as a stress relief. Plus it's harder to want to overeat when you feel like you just burned a bunch of calories!

I work out before going to school (I'm a principal). If I catch myself still taking the occasional deep breath during 2nd period, I know I had an amazing workout.
-
I eat eggs and toast every morning--mostly so that the other people in the office don't have to deal with me being hangry.
-
I drink 8 cups every morning and continue to lose like a champ! but i log it and the ~1/2C of soy milk that I inevitably add. Just be diligent and for Pete's sake, buy a food scale and use it...it makes logging both easier and more accurate!

I have found that for me, the MFP values are about double the amount of calories I expend in reality. This is just from trial and error, and I'm sure could be different for different people.

i gained 8lbs over Memorial Day weekend because I went WAY off the reservation...tons of sodium and lots of processed sugar. In reality, I probably gained less than half a pound of "real" weight. After my jog today i'll be back in the vicinity of normal. Don't worry unless after several weeks you haven't started to see a…

I log mine if I have time, but don't if i'm really in a hurry. shouldn't really affect you unless you are eating super-duper close to your TDEE I would think.

I have been vegetarian for a while and just made the jump to being a vegan a couple of months ago. I have found http://www.nomeatathlete.com to be a really helpful resource...although most of the fueling is centered around long distance running.

I don't know if this helps you, but I have found that for me, the more savory and less sweet my breakfast is, the easier it is to resist sweets for the rest of the day.

just an observation, but meals #2-5 are fine dining, which is not intended to be an everyday experience. if you ate them everyday or even a couple of times a week, they would probably make you just as fat as mcdonalds. the problem with mickey d's is that the price of the food makes it a real option for daily eating for the…

if you don't have a food scale, you can always do what i do--decide on how many servings the box should be, drop the whole box of pasta and then serve it equally into however many containers you need. for example, the barilla whole wheat pasta i usually eat comes in a box of 13.25oz; i cook the whole box and divide equally…

this is normal. it will pass. sounds like you have done a great job so far, and want to change your life instead of just dropping some weight. don't be afraid to slow down, as it will have to happen at some point...you can't drop down to zero! switch things up and keep on tracking; remember you can always go back if it…

if you will write it down (or log it in) every day, then you can look at your overall trend in weight loss over a long period of time and then maybe the days when you are up one or two won't freak you out as much, because you'll see that it happens over and over and then settles back down. then instead of feeling like you…

chopped medjool dates and toasted almonds with cinnamon. yum!

I am so proud of you for deciding to lose weight and sticking with it so young! I waited to get serious and change my life until I was 35, and now I wonder what I was waiting for. Congrats!

i count my water this way: it's 10pm and i'm finishing up logging everything and then see the little water icon and think, "oh crap...i wonder how much water i drank today? probably a lot." then i click the up arrow until it looks like water is splashing out and then click it a few more times for good measure. i'm not dead…

two things--first, i found that when i started just putting milk (soy milk for me, actually, i'm a vegan) in my coffee, eventually i got used to it and now i don't miss it at all. second, i found that when i changed from sweet to savory breakfast, i tend not to crave sugar as much the entire day.

I was the sole caretaker of my two little ones when my wife was pregnant with our third (she gets so sick that we are in and out of the ER for dehydration from day 1 until the baby is out) and during that time the double jogging stroller and the pull behind bike trailer were my best friends. They were one and three at the…

The way I see it, there are two different reasons to weigh yourself daily. If you are weighing because of an unhealthy obsession, that's a bad idea and it fuels unhealthy behavior. But it sounds like this guy falls into the second reason--because he is a logico-mathematically natured person and considers relevant data an…

i haven't tried it because they are, IMO, extremely expensive, but chia seeds are supposed to go a long way towards making you feel really full.

i eat a salad everyday for lunch, and lately i've been having a love affair with sauteeing one of the vegetables in 1 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil along with rosemary, red pepper flakes and salt, then pouring the whole thing over my salad and dressing just with balsamic vinegar.

maybe find a hobby that you love that is active for the weekends...so that you are burning calories along with finding something that you love so you aren't overindulging on the weekends. I found an "extreme boot camp" that meets on saturdays that is more or less like playing on a jungle gym and then I got into running, so…

i used to take mine to work and not worry about it; I got there at 6:30 and didn't eat until 11:00. I know that's anecdotal, but I'm still around.

congrats on baby #4! good luck on losing the baby weight, my wife (and I by proxy) are working on getting her back in shape after #3 in april. chickpeas and other beans are also a good protein source...make your own hummus and have it with carrot slices or cucumber if the carrots are too hard for your dental issues.
-
tofu is both soft and high in protein...if you like it. i love it pan-fried in coconut oil with dried red pepper flakes and ginger powder, topped with a little sesame seeds and some soy sauce. yum!!!
-
why do you want to eat so much protein? just curious, since your daily goal puts you at around 50g...
