^^^ Very wise advice. I'm gonna click that X after I hit "Post Reply" and go for a walk. :flowerforyou:

I'm trying to understand what you mean when you talk about lack of support. I see that you recently got constructive criticism/guidance on the Phentermine threads, as well as some not-so-contructive feedback - but both are expected in a public forum about a highly sensitive, volatile subject such as diet pills. I fear you…

That's AWESOME!!! You worked your butt off (literally), so you earned that NSV!

Compression garments (tops, pants, you name it), typically have a higher amount of spandex/stretch to them in order to compress parts of the body - this is considered good for muscles, but has the added benefit of holding all our bits in very nicely! Some compression clothing is even graduated - so it provides…

If you're curious, the two cosmetic surgery procedures most commonly done for this area are abdominoplasty (aka a tummy tuck) and panniculectomy (removal of the pannus - which is the apron of loose skin on the lower abdomen). I researched it once... But I've since come to terms with my tummy.

Exact same problem here. I've had good luck with women's compression pants/capris/shorts by Under Armour. I also have some by Reebok and New Balance. Basically if a company makes good running apparel, they probably make a good compression bottom. Not to mention, compression has other benefits for your muscles. I also buy…

Thankfully having a genetic predisposition for diabetes is not a guarantee! But your being very mindful of that risk and taking steps to prevent it is admirable! I also have a history of Type 2 diabetes in my immediate family, but I have yet to develop pre-diabetes. Admittedly, I was well on my way when I was morbidly…

Yes. 1250 cals/day is bad. MFP is setting you up for failure with that crazy low intake number. This isn't just my opinion, but shared by a big segment of the "big losers" here on MFP. I recommend trying the TDEE-X% method to lose weight. I'm 5'5', 37yo female, and I eat 1600 cals/day using the TDEE method (okay, I totally…

Started at 265lb Lost 120lb in 3 years Regained 40lb over next 6 years (maintenance is a B*) Lost 20lb in last 4 months At 166lb today Aiming for 155lb (my upper threshold for a normal BMI) Anything below that is a bonus

Hmmmm... I guess I'm not shocked by a big initial drop. When I first started losing weight, I had a big drop (started at 265 and dropped 11lb in the first 2 weeks), but the drop tapered off quickly. Over the next 3 years, I lost at a rate of 35 lb/year. I think my initial 11lb loss was mostly water weight. I started…

I learned how to mountain bike the really hard way. I got talked into going on a weeklong biking trip to Moab UT and Fruita, CO - the mecca of US mountain biking. The guys needed transportation and I had the massive SUV - problem solved. I had no idea what I was getting myself into - I had maybe ridden 25 miles of gentle…

It takes some serious handling skills to ride gravel well on a road bike with skinnies (to me, skinny is anything 700x28 or narrower). I wish I could, but it would be a death trap for me. Hence I went with a disc cross frame (an affordable one) that can accomodate knobby 700x42's.

Normally I would wonder the same thing - perhaps the OP is just out of shape, maybe she's having HRM issues, or maybe she's just fatigued or dehydrated. When the OP mentioned her doctor was "very, very concerned" and referred her to a cardiologist, I figured it's best not to downplay the OP's concern. Hopefully the doc was…

Lizard Skin fan here, too. Very good grippiness, resists fading, decent thickness/padding, just gotta be careful to avoid scuffing it up. Since bar tape is cheap, and you're gonna be stuck with for a while, I wouldn't limit myself to the selection at one site (albeit I do love Wiggle!)

Building a frame-up gravel bike as we speak (Surly Straggler - basically a Cross Check with disc brakes). Gravel is *the* thing here in the Midwest US - Heck, I've got Dirty Kanza and umpteen gravel hundies in my "backyard" (NE, IA, MO, KS, & CO). I'll be out there gettin' my gravel legs with ya!

Glad I could help earlier. By what you mentioned right here, there could be a few benign triggers that cause tachycardia. So, yeah, you'll want to share with the nurses/doctors how much you're eating, drinking, and what meds you are on. Also include stuff like how much cardio you're doing recently, how much rest you're…

I like Muscle Pharm Combat protein powder. Currently ripping through a tub of cookies & cream. I actually look forward to my breakfast shake (mix w/unsweetened almond milk & water). The first ingredients listed are "Micro Filtered Whey Protein Blend (Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Hydroslate)"…

I eat mostly chicken/turkey, fish, eggs, & shrimp for my primary protein sources. I also love low-fat cheeses and Greek yogurt. I have difficulty hitting my daily protein goals, so I have a protein shake at breakfast (unsweetened almond milk and a cookies & cream flavored protein powder shaken in a blender bottle). It's…

Hmmmm... My secrets??? 1) Try to make small *simple* changes you can live with over the long term - because your health is a rest-of-your-life kinda deal. 2) Make a promise to yourself to do something, no matter how small, every day that promotes your health & happiness. Or, at the very least, don't do anything that…

Okay, the best thing is not to panic until you see the cardiologist and get a full workup. Your doctors will give you much better answers than you can get from a public diet/fitness discussion board. Very few people here are medical professionals - and even if they tried to give you some sound medical advice, they really…

I don't worry about trying to hit my macros perfectly per meal. That would take serious planning - and sometimes we want a meal that just isn't ideally balanced. For example, my breakfast is often a protein shake and coffee (so I start off way high on protein), but my lunch is often lower protein (ex: a salad, some fruit).…

I started with walking, too. Fast forward several years later, I'm almost 100 lbs down and I now bike over 6000 miles a year and have started jogging in earnest. So, everything that gets you moving is moving you in the right direction! If/when you start feeling like the walking is getting easy for you, consider adding a…

So this one particular racer was exceptionally rude. Your beef is with him, right? Be glad you couldn't catch him - chasing down a cyclist and ranting like a mad woman is probably considered even less socially acceptable than being an inconsiderate bike-jerk on the MUP. I'm sorry this particular cyclist added fuel to the…

Sadly, I saw the topic heading and thought "uh, why would you eat something burnt? Don't waste those calories!"... I get stupid when I'm hungry! I use the TDEE method, so I don't eat back exercise calories because it's already factored into my daily calorie allotment. I *may* eat a small portion of my exercise calories…

So what's with the Orbea hate? Considering the veritable bike stable in your profile pic (including that new Tango 7 29er and, uh, are those Bontrager Race X-Lites on the red Trek?), I doubt you only ever just putz along. Haters gonna hate...

Hi, Sol. As you can see, you're not alone here on MFP. I started in a similar place in my 20s. Your goals can certainly be reached, but you have to be patient and understanding with yourself. Sometimes you'll make progress, sometimes you'll backslide. You'll learn things that work, and probably a whole lot more that…

You could talk to your doc and get his or her professional medical opinion on your weight loss progress and your current (and sounds like greatly improved) health. That way, when people (friends, family, random over-opinionated people) start to give you grief about your weight loss and exercise progress, you can tell them…

You mentioned you have at least one runner friend... do you have more running friends by chance? I often find doing things (not just running) with my friends makes things better all around. Time seems to pass quicker when with friends, too. Also, if you need to run in order to reach your sports goals, try to get it done…
