Feel Free to add me! I have been on MFP for about a year now and I love it. I am always looking for more good, supportive friends and I try to be one myself. good luck!

Hey feel free to add me! I am actually getting ready to start trying for our first child in a few months, so having some women who are already mothers in my friend pool would be AWESOME! I am just starting to read some great books on the subject (anyone familiar with the Fertility Awareness Method? Great book so far). Good…

You can friend me! I have been on MFP for a little over a year now and it has really made me want to learn more and more about being healthy and what that means, exactly. I am so excited for you and the journey you are about to embark on. Good luck!

I have the same problem, as it sounds like most people do! Last night was actually a bad night for me but I scooped myself 8 oz of plain yogurt (170 cals) and mixed in 10g vanilla sugar free jello mix (25 cals) for a creamy sweet treat. 8 oz is a LOT of yogurt and I was so stuffed when I finished eating that I was feeling…

Ok, so much for the one tip! 1) buy a hear rate monitor! You would not beleive how even the same excercise can burn different amounts of calories depending on your intensity / lack of sleep / tons of other factors! and every individual is SOOO different when it comes to burning calories 2) Water Water Water - I am so weak…

^^^ Yes I agree with this. I was trying to eat at 1200 calories and having problems. I just recently bumped it up to 1500 and my cravings have been reduced SIGNIFICANTLY and my binges (yes, I still have a few) are smaller in scale than when I was trying so hard to eat 1200/day. I am working to eliminate those completely…

Ok, so if this is truley the case, then it seems to me the way MFP has it set up makes it a little confusing. I see two ways to make it less confusing, wondering if it would work the same: 1) calculate your TDEE based on sedentary lifestyle, then log your excercises and account for calories burned and aim for your NET…

Yes, it is definately a weekly total that is important. That is why MFP has that tab that shows you your daily average for the week. I am just starting to realize the power in focusing on a weekly total versus a daily total. The beauty? Is that you don't have to beat yourself up for going over a daily total, which we all…

This is an interesting concept. I will try it out. I really don't have much of a problem losing the weight when I am excercising regularly, eaty oober healthily, and keeping my net calories below MFP's recommendations. With that said, the reason I think this does work, is because MFP's calculations for my calorie allotment…

I have been gym-membership free for about 3 years now. I have a good pair of running shoes, a set of dumbells and a yoga mat. I just set myself up with my own personalized beginners weight lifting routine. The best advice I read was to do 2 excersices per muscle group which include: Back Shoulder Chest Triceps Biceps Lower…

I'm not sure what type of birth control you use (if any) but I had a similar situation. I started my cycle and it lasted the usual 3 days, then stoped for a day or two. Then it picked back up and I bled for 5 weeks straight (and this was NOT spotting, it was HEAVY! Talk about inconvenient!) My doctor was not sure what was…

I have read a bit about this (calorie ziz-zagging) and was going to give it a try. My first week at it was little out of control because it was my birthday weekend which involved 3 birthday dinners / too much alcohol. BUT, in just the first week I noticed there is alot less pressure when you are aiming for an overall…

Hey all! I am a soccer ADDICT! I had about a 3 year gap after I graduated from college because a lot of leages are only open to 27+ year olds :-( I just turned 27 this year. I actually got back into it when I changed jobs and found out there was a group of employees that played outdoor pickup every Tuesday and Thursday at…

I was going to ask the same question. Have you measured anything OTHER than weight? Also, in the beginning of my weight loss journey I fluctuated pretty radically - lost 2 pounds, then gained 8 even though I was restricting calories. It all evened out and my overall trend was down though after a few months (seriously my…

I could use more friends to keep me in line as well! Especially when it comes to eating home made truffles (went a little overboard last night, whoops!) I have been going strong on MFP for about a year now, but just discovered friends about 6 months ago and now I am addicted. Good luck!

Anything chocolate! Mainly truffles, peanut butter cups (mmmmmm), frozen yogurt with ghiradella white yogurt chips, peanut butter cups (mmmmm), is there an echo in here?. Thats for the sweet, then for the savory it would have to be a big old chicken burrito with guacamole and sour cream, yum yum. Also for some reason I am…

I would say boredom and knowing I should be doing houshold chores that I just don't want to do! Those are big triggers for me. I am still trying to figure out what works, but I would say I allow myself to snack on whatever I am craving but make sure that I measure it out, make the portion size reasonable even if I want the…

Ok here is MY personal take on all this: yes count the calories you get from veggies. Every calorie is important in the simple weight loss equation of "you must burn more than you consume". It is also good practice in case you want to review your diary and analyze any trends. For example you may want to look at days you…

So the idea, as I understand it, is that processed sugars cause your body to hang on to fat / make it more difficult to lose weight. Fruit is NOT the same as processed sugars, however. Also, one thing to know is that most fruits have an equally high dose of fiber, which helps your body to slowly digest the sugar you do get…

I too HATE drinking water and I am having the same problem. I also have additional characteristics making it difficult for me to get enough water. 1) I don't really drink much of anything. I just don't get that natural urge to hydrate, so the trick with slowly replacing other drinks just doesn't work for me because I don't…

I read in a nutrition book once that although fruits like apples are high in "natural" sugar, apples in particular also have equally high amounts of fiber. Supposedly fiber helps your body digest sugar at a steadier rate so even though you got a big dose of sugars the fiber helps your body deal with it. I am NOT any sort…

Ok, I have experimented with so many meal ideas and you just gotta find low cal foods you WANT to eat. First off, I would like to say the one thing that really helps me eat healthy is choosing a meal plan FOR THE WEEK, and making it all on Sunday night. I make enough for 5 servings and then I wing it on the weekend once…

A few things that are critical to keeping to my calorie range and stopping binging (imho): 1) drink water CONSISTENTLY throughout the day (my weekness is that I hate water so this is constantly a challenge but it works WONDERS!) I have started to drink green tea. I heat a pot of water first thing in the morning and first…

Checking how many calories a meal is BEFORE I eat it. That way I can still eat it, but I portion it accordinly, and if 1/4 cup is all I can have, then I try REALLY hard to stick with that portion, or decide to eat something that is more filling and less calories. I am still working on this though.......

Hey you are on the right track by starting to track what you eat and getting support. You can add me :) Also, the best thing you can do for yourself is track EVERYTHING you eat. You will see the good, the bad, the ugly, and the uglier! But I found the days I tracked when I ate double or even more than my calorie goal,…
