I agree with the post above. I think the biggest thing is just to not try to progress too quickly. I was not a runner either and actually ran my first 5k without even running on the ground beforehand. I never liked running and always used the elliptical for exercise. My first 5k went much better than I expected. I did it…

They are great. I like most flavors but I really like the cookies and cream, apple pie and strawberry cheesecake ones the best. They taste good, are somewhat filling despite their small size, have low sugar, and had a lot of fiber.

Thanks for the tips. I've run in around 10 degree weather, but haven't tried below zero conditions. This year seems to be unusually cold.

Any tips for staying warm in the below zero temps? I am in MN and it gets pretty cold here during the winter. I'm usually stuck using the treadmill but would prefer to be outside if I could stay somewhat warm.

Download the "you are your own gym" app or get the book. There are many body weight exercises you can do for strength without special equipment.

I did both MN events 2013 and will be doing both next year as well. I did a spartan race in Montana last year too and agree with the previous comments on the spartan race. They are more challenging. My goal is to complete the trifecta next year with the spartan race but I think they are all fun.

I did the tough mudder Minnesota (actually in wisconsin) last year and will be doing it again in 2014. I'd focus first on the running/cardio aspect of things and worry about the strength part after. Most of your time will be spent running and you can get help on the strength obstacles. You can't really get help with the…

I have the F7 (not FT7) and like it. I have used it a year or so on and off.

I have the MT20RB2 Minimus 2s that I bought a few months ago for use on mud/obstacle runs. I have used them for a tough mudder and two other mud/obstacle runs and like them a lot. They are very light weight and help with traction. They do take a little getting used to, but I only wear mine for these races and a few times…

Include them. You can tack up a lot of calories with fruit depending on your diet. I'd go over all the time if I didn't log mine.

I use it and like it. That being said, I have't tried any other powders so I can't really compare it to anything. I have the vanilla cream isolate and the advanced cookies and cream one. I just mix 1 scoop of powder with 8 oz of mild. Both are pretty sweet so i sometimes add a little water.

I generally use an incline bench for situps but sometimes use the ab crunch machine at the gym.

I do 30 minutes of high intensity interval cardio daily and try to lift every other day. My lifting generally doesn't change much but consists of: squats, bench press, dumbbell rows, butterfly, bicept curls, ab crunch, row, lat pulldown and assisted dips. Not sure if it is a good routine or not since I am still pretty new…

I've never heard of this before. I just don't log strength training as I don't want to go over.

It all depends on your intensity level. I bought a HRM to see what I was really burning and found out I was actually burning more than what MFP or the machine said most of the time since I use a lot of resistence.

My diary is open to everyone. Feel free to stalk me a bit or add me if you like.

I have an open diary. If you are still looking for people, feel free to add me.

Congrats! Kind of hope I can use that sometime lol.

Practice your fork downs and do some cardio!

I am pretty sure my FT7 allows me to change the VO2 max. I will try to look into how it works and how to do it. I have only used the monitor for 2 days (yesterday and today). I am somewhat suprised with my inconsistency in HR though. Yesterday, I was on the elliptical for 45 minutes and 30 of them were at a HR in the 165…

I think she means map the distance you are walking online and see how long it takes to go 1 mile. A 5 mph walk is pretty fast and is a 12 minute mile. I don't think I can walk much faster than 4mph without jogging.

Thanks for taking a look. I know I need to work on my sodium a bit and try to keep an eye on it. Some foods are just loaded with it though. It doesn't help that I like Franks Red Hot either (0 calories but a ton of sodium). "I put that *kitten* on everything" when I am home lol. I drink a ton of water and drink probably a…

I have that basic info set up correctly and I was going at a decent pace. My average HR was 155 with my max being 168. I am not planning on eating back my calories but still want to make sure it is somewhat accurate. I was running manual mode level 15 for this time. I was doing intervals but I don't like the lower levels…
