This thread always bugged me and, yeah, I could've maybe handled myself better, but the idea that people would not acknowledge that water was better than diet soda simply blew my mind. So, here's apparently the latest information:…

Lesson learned: Don't get between an addict and their compulsion.

I hope you're right. Swap the term "water" for anything else and you would assume a wholesale swap.

I've been making this: Lightly coat EVOO on both sides of a split pita bread and broil for a couple minutes both sides to crisp it up. Pull it out and put Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella (go easy!) and fresh basil. Back into the broiler. I think it tastes fresh and it is very easy.

It was the posters original question.

Wasn't long enough for margarine/trans fats. But hey, clearly the overwhelming response is "go for it". Monsanto thanks you all for you advocacy. IMHO, There is something seriously wrong with a message board that can't say water is better than diet soda. That doesn't even pass the giggle test.

Since this was the original question, can we agree that pure water is a superior source for hydration and a wholesale swap for diet soda is probably not a great idea? I'm a big fan of everything in moderation, which was a point made several times in this thread. Personally, I think at best the jury is out on long term…

I would consider adding a couple calorie/nutrient rich snacks into their diets. Nuts or trail mix for example.

Red flag: if the best general comment is that is shouldn't hurt you, the benefits (what you are after all presumably looking for) are probably dubious. A varied diet helps curb boredom and most importantly provides nutritional diversity. Without knowing your goals and specific details, any advice regarding your diet is…

Forum posts like this deteriorate my faith in humankind. Both from needlessly antagonistic jerks, and man-hating trolls. Y'all have a nice day! Who's TOM?

D'oh! I'm officially a dumbass. lol.

Amen, sister. This thread seems particularly rife with some very questionable information.

Everyone is different and ultimately you have to do what works for you. That said, this post and philosophy is pretty scary to me. This recommendation would result in a net of 700 calories/day. IMHO, this would be dangerous.

I'm sure you are probably aware, but in the settings/goals area you can select an option to gain weight. MFP will set your recommended calories based on it. Good luck!!

What's a troll? I see this reference a lot to postings.

My wife said whe wanted a divorce for her birthday. I said I wasn't looking to spend that much.

So if everything you buy is in US measurements, who is being stubborn again?
-
I understand that there are in two units of measure for "1 cup": Liquid and dry. For me anyway, this clears up the whole deal.

This!

This made me laugh out loud. Veggies came out my nose.

I add a toasted wheat germ to mine and it gives it a hint of nutty flavor without the grit.

Completely agree.

Good advice. Thanks.

Just to emphasize the challenge, take calcium and sesame seeds. 1C of sesame seeds has about 875 calories and 1500mg calcium. So eating nutrient dense foods sounds great and I'm all about it, but the calcium dense foods seem to be mostly high calorie and/or would require a volume that's just not realistic. Kale is also…
