I lived in Northern Virginia for over 6 years, and worked in DC. I always loved visiting Ford's Theater on 10th street. If you have any interest in religion, or just beautiful architecture, I also recommend the National Cathedral, and the National Shrine to the Immaculate Conception. If this is a 'once in a lifetime' type…

I confess that I did not make it to the gym today. (The first day I skipped - other than my planned Mondays off.) I did stay right at my alloted calories, though. (I also confess I had a bite of my husband's chocolate lava cake.)

If you have or can get a decent food dehydrator, that is really helpful in planning food for a long backpacking trip. You can make your own jerky, and almost any fruit does well. Have a great time!!

I had to take my husband in for x-rays. He thought he broke his toe/ foot. Good news, he didn't break it. Bad news... I had to do lunch on the run. I hit Subway for a 6" Turkey on Wheat, with mustard, and lots of veg. (No cheese.) Enjoy your afternoon!! -kathy

Oh, Laura, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It is ok to take the time you need to mourn. Don't beat yourself up for what you haven't gotten to just yet. You will!! So, mourn him in the way he would want you to. No more emotional eating. (Easier said than done!!) Go for a walk, have a chat with him (in your mind.) :-)…

I confess I have been having desires for a dark milky way. I even picked one up at the store the other day, looked at the calories and decided it wasn't worth it. I have been known to specifically do an extra two miles just so I can have a small dish of chocolate ice cream, though. :-)
