  • I grabbed this when it went free a few days ago, but hadn't gotten a chance to use it until today. Really enjoying it, actually. I have it set to alert me throughout the work day to remind me to get out of my chair. Anyone else given it a try yet? I like that you can set the duration between workout reminders and between…
  • It all depends on how much of your boob size is breast tissue and how much is fat. I expected to lose quite a lot in the chest as I lost weight but I'm hardly down any in that area at all even after 60 lbs. It's kind of annoying because they were pretty big before and now they look even bigger. I haven't been fitted…
  • I have one and rather like it. There are ways to change your posture and stuff that increases difficulty if you find it too easy. The booklet that came with it has several different exercises listed. I started at 254 and I'm down to 195 since June. That's not all the Gazelle, of course - I alternate strength days and…
  • I haven't noticed thinning hair, but my fingernails got more brittle for a little while (I usually have very strong nails). Over the past few weeks that's improved. I would definitely make sure you're eating enough and taking a multi-vitamin. Perhaps consult a doctor?
  • Height: 5'4" Starting weight: 253 lbs. Current weight: 212 lbs. Goal Weight: Maybe 150? Not sure - I'm fairly muscular and want to stay that way, so not much under that for sure - aiming more for a healthy body fat%. Age: 30 How many calories you eat a day: NEVER less than 1200 and I keep it under 1800. I aim for about…
  • I've had a Kinect since they came out - my favorite workouts are the Dance Central games (3 is very challenging and a LOT of fun), and Your Shape.
  • I sit in a room divided by several small cubicals and the coworker with the middle cube has a radio on 24/7 playing a top 40 station - not my favorite music type, but not the most offensive either. The problem is that the person in the cube beside hers occasionally doesn't want to listen to that, but never says anything…
  • Finished P90 a few weeks ago - it's a great beginner workout! Highly recommend if you're just getting off of the couch. I'm on JM's Body Revolution now, and it's great for variety and a gradual buildup - I start part 2 of phase 1 tonight. It's a good deal tougher than P90 since it's shorter workouts, but higher intensity.…
  • To clarify, are you doing P90 or P90X? I just finished P90 a few weeks ago (it's got alternating cardio and toning/circuit days) but the workouts are around 45 minutes long, not 60 - it's geared more towards beginners. The way I logged it before I got my HRM was as aerobics on the cardio days, and circuits on the toning…
  • I noticed no one has brought this up yet, but where you're at in your monthly cycle can have a big effect on your water weight too. I sometimes "gain" the week before/during, then lose a HUGE chunk afterwards.
  • Not sure why it happens, but your body won't JUST burn fat if you've got a lot of extra fat - it'll burn muscle too. I lost 4 lbs in the past two weeks and according to my dietitian who I just got back from meeting with, half of that was muscle mass because I've been eating at what she considers too high of a deficit (I…
  • Thank you! And of course, the more MFP friends the better :)
  • I'm still "during" (still have a REALLY long way to go) but this is a 35lb difference with LOTS of toning since mid-June - I think there's been some visible change: (I'm in the weird speckled dress, second from the end)
  • ^^ this. I've lost 35 lbs. and I'm still a G. Try finding a workout bra that fits for that cup size. Makes jumping and running exercises pretty difficult. I think it's pretty much a genetic crap-shoot. I've never been smaller than a C cup since my first training bra and I was pretty skinny and athletic back then.
  • You can lose really fast at first if you work hard at it and are starting from a fairly high weight. I think I lost 28 lbs my first three months, but that's since slowed down to a healthier weight loss of anywhere from 1-2lbs/week.
  • I just started it, but a coworker of mine finished it and she really liked it. I'm in week one which I started right after finishing P90 (not P90X - the one that comes before that - I'm attempting to work my way up to being able to do P90X since it killed me the first time I attempted it!), and I'm finding week 1 very…
  • I've got one, and I like it quite a bit. I use it in conjunction with my Polar FT4 because the fitbit isn't very good at estimating calories/workouts that aren't step related. It's fairly close when I use the elliptical, but not so much for kenpo or strength training. It does really help motivate me though - it's cool to…
  • I just had this conversation with one of my roommates yesterday! Basically, I keep a 24 oz water bottle at work and one at home. I fill the work bottle first thing in the morning, and I make sure I finish it before I eat lunch. If I'm hungry and ready to eat lunch, but I haven't finished it yet, I finish it really quick…
  • The Xbox 360 with Kinect is really great! We use the Dance Central games quite often, and there are a lot of other fun video games that get you moving too (I like Your Shape quite a bit). I highly recommend it over the Wii - no need for remotes or other peripherals so there is a greater variety of workouts available.
  • I'm still keeping up and getting it done in one set, but definitely started feeling it in my thighs yesterday! This is an awesome challenge - love it!
  • I do my workout 6 days/week no matter what. Always. If I let myself lapse for anything, then it gets easier to make an excuse next time and before I know it, I've fallen off the exercise wagon. I have fairly horrendous cycles, and working out absolutely does NOT make me feel better. I feel absolutely miserable pretty much…
  • I've actually never thought about this seriously before, but I've got an H cup so I'm all for it! lol
  • I did them as well (just forgot to report in). 15 today!
  • I'll give it a try! My max squats right now is like 45 though, so this could be tough! lol
  • I love metal - old school and the new stuff - I've got a ton of Maiden, Disturbed, Metallica, Megadeath, Five Finger Death Punch... \m/ I don't know how people workout to other kinds of music. If it's "softer" than Three Days Grace how can you push it? XD I was supposed to go to a Disturbed concert a while ago, but it was…
  • Not to add fuel to the fire on anything, just thought I'd throw out that I had an appointment with a registered dietitian on Monday and she was appalled at the idea that I'd been eating 1200 cals + some exercise cals for a month . According to the various tests I took (including one where I had to breathe into a metabolic…
  • I've got knee issues, so mostly low-impact stuff. I'm currently doing a hybrid of the P90 workout (day 65!) - I got really bored/hated the cardio disk after about 45 days, so instead of doing more of the same with the level 3-4 disk, I started mixing it up with P90X kenpo+Ab Ripper or just running on my Gazelle for 5 miles…
  • No shoes unless I'm on the Gazelle.
  • Sorry - I should have been more specific - Muscle IS denser - that's why the same volume of it weighs more than an equal volume of fat, and the argument was about inches (which is a volume) verses weight (which is a mass). If you fill a bucket with fat and the same sized bucket with muscle, the muscle bucket would weigh…
  • Me too - also I'm pretty sure fat and muscle don't weigh the same. Muscle weighs more than fat.
