Chocolate milk is a great post workout drink. Another alternative is just simply mixing your protein powder with milk. The recipe you mentioned with cocoa and sugar sounds a lot like homemade hot cocoa....not sure how it would be cold. If you feel better having a nice protein/carb/fat after your workout then drink it, but…

A new gym just opened very close to my house and they are offering Olympic lifting, amongst other things---mainly sport specific training. I couldn't be more excited to find out more and the qualifications of the trainers. Learning to do the Oly lifts has been on my bucket list for a while now. I lift regularly but due to…

Beautifully written by a beautiful woman! Great work :)

Yeah, even 1lb a week is too much for 5lbs to lose. Set it for 0.5lbs per week....gosh, if you are active you could even set it to maintenance and then use your exercise calories as your deficit. Also, make sure that you are weighing, measuring, logging, etc. These last 5 will be more challenging to get off, but you can do…

I use Powerade electrolyte drops that I just add to my water. I don't usually start drinking until around 6-8k if it's a long run (I don't drink on runs that are shorter than that). They work great for me.

I just came for the bodybuilders :drinker:

Recomp is entirely possible....I have stayed pretty much the same weight (fluctuate about 5lbs) for, gosh, I would say about one year now, but I look quite different. Has it been intentional? Somewhat. Most of the time I think I have been in a deficit, but the scale says otherwise. Meh, I have worked on my relationship…

100% what Beach said. Glute bridges/hip thrusts Squats/squat variations (including single leg work--lunges, split squats, step-ups, etc) Deadlifts and DL variations (including single leg work and posterior chain work, reverse hypers, back extensions, good mornings, etc.) You MUST use the progressive overload principle. All…

I would suggest going with bodyweight squats first before you add weight. Get comfortable with the movement and make sure your form is correct. That will help tremendously. You can also try doing a box squat. Good luck!

Pure inspiration right here.

Are you weighing, measuring and logging everything? Are you doing so honestly? Nutrisystem would have taken care of this for you so if you are "eyeballing" your portions now, you could be drastically underestimating your true intake. Chances are very likely it's something along these lines that is happening.

Adult cardio......that's my dream. Now I just need to find a man that can keep up so that my dream can come true.

I didn't bother reading anything else because this is spot on. You can still do some cardio if you feel like it. Some women find that they see better results with it (I am one of those women) but lifting is what has completely changed my body. Good luck.

Given that you have been running for 8 weeks, it's awesome that you have been able to hit under 30 min for 5k. I have been running for a lot longer and still haven't gotten there  Basically, just keep running. As you train, you will just naturally get faster. You can do some speed training, intervals and such, but…

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm with Stef regarding the "filling" foods. You might stand to benefit from looking at your macros. Basing each meal around a protein as well and ensuring that you are getting enough fat might be a good idea. Also make sure you are drinking enough water.....even add in some flavored tea with nothing in it. It might be…

This ^^^^ Almond milk has next to no nutritional value. Unless you have a medical condition where you should not consume dairy, I would take cows milk over other "milk" any day of the week. Especially if you like it.

Your dietician gave you solid advice. And I agree with the her regarding the setpoint theory. Ultimately the theory makes it easy for us say "well, that's it! My body is just happy where it is" when in fact when there is still excess weight, it's really not the case. Chances are good that since you started your job your…

You can both take a hike. Category 5 on most days. Today.....category 10. :explode:

I'm confused. If you aren't complaining about your co-worker groping you.....then why is it a negative thing and why are you hiding from him?

No, it's not better. For all intents and purposes, going to parallel is your best bet. Yes, you can go deeper than parallel but really, unless you plan to do power lifting competitions, you don't have to concern yourself with it. Partial reps CAN have a place in training, however that is a training method that more…

Eat at maintenance and get yourself on a good lifting program. Also, I didn't ask where you got the 19.5% from? That is very lean for a woman and it's possible that it's incorrect.
-
Eat at maintenance to maintain your current weight. If you would like to gain a bit, eat a bit more than maintenance.
