Every GP has approximately 6 hours of nutrition education. The only way they receive more than that is to either a)specialize and no longer be a GP, or b) do quite a bit of outside research on their own, in addition to the ongoing education they are already required to do to maintain their license, which isn't likely.

You're 23 years old. You should be able to discuss, in an adult way, that you are being conscious of your calorie intake and would like to know or be involved in dinner prep in some way. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to accurately enter your dinner calories into your log.

If you are feeling 'starved', you are not eating enough satiating foods. Try eating more protein and fats if eating carbs is making you hungrier. You don't even have to cut the carbs out, just add the proteins and fats in with them. Eating a well-balanced diet is the key to success when it comes to feeling satisfied. Put a…

Exactly this. Weight loss is not linear. You won't see a straight line loss on the scale every week, because hormone fluctuations, sodium in things that you eat, exercise, and other things will case you retain fluid on occasion. For a few days, you'll retain fluid and it will seem as though you aren't losing any weight.…

Which is why I advised to increase his protein macro.

you're welcome!

Two options here: Starting a lifting program while eating at maintenance and work on body recomp. This means tightening the wings and core and working on strength. It will change your shape and improve your look. Or you eat at a surplus while building up a heavy lifting program and building muscle, adding to your bulk.…

CICO works for everyone. Reducing carbs is just one method of achieving CICO.

It's all very personal. Everyone finds what works for them, and trying to tell people what is the 'right' way never works. It's much better to tell people that there are different ways to succeed, and that if one way doesn't work, to try another, but that sticking to the calorie goal while trying each is the key to success.

I, too will do much better on a carb loaded meal than a fat loaded meal. Give me the French toast every time over the bacon/sausage and eggs.

And here we go again on the merry-go-round of arguing about healthy/unhealthy food and how much people are supposed to eat in order both lose weight and be healthy. It's not as hard as people make it out to be. Nearly every food choice has something beneficial. And those which don't can still be chosen, and enjoyed, albeit…

You certainly don't need to exercise to lose weight. Exercise is for fitness, not for weight loss. I also have very bad back problems and can't exercise at all, and I was able to lose weight. I now maintain on 1600 calories. You,as a man, should have no problem at all losing weight at that amount. Just do what others have…

When you post in a public forum, you're going to hear from everyone who has access to those forums. That doesn't keep the responses exclusive to only those who fit into the category of 'those who do this to others'. People who read the original post are going to weigh in with opinions and speculation, and they have the…

Anyone's daily diet does not have to be an 'either/or' situation. That comes up over and over here on MFP and needs to stop . It's a full day's worth of calories, and any adult calculating his or her daily calories should be perfectly capable of fitting in both chocolate and fruit. As well as servings of carbs, proteins,…

Well, to be fair, you asked here in the forums, and not the people on your friends list. So people answering here in the forums who are not on your friends list cannot do more than speculate. When people are speculating in this thread and you ask them to stop doing that and get back on topic, that's not fair. They can…

You just have to focus on yourself and the baby right now. Stress isn't good for either one of you. Try to stay calm and relax. In fact, you might try some meditation techniques - you can find classes locally or even look some stuff up online. When you are struggling with cravings and feel stressed, try the meditation.…

You won't. I also have a small frame, and I've been in maintenance for a couple of years. I don't exercise, and I don't gain weight.

I don't have time to put a bunch of 'likes' or support messages on people's posts on my feed. I don't necessarily know when they closed their diary if they are happy with the calorie count. It's possible they might be bulking and calorie count was under, liking that would not make sense. I have a few close friends I will…

Did you look into CareCredit?

Doctors recommend that you gain 25-35 pounds with a normal pregnancy. There's baby weight, placenta, amniotic fluid, additional blood volume, breast milk. If you are 27 pounds now and have a month to go, expect to gain at least another 5 pounds. The baby should gain a pound a week at this stage of development. You're…

This isn't true. Depending on the insurance company, often with the correct documentation and MD recommendation, insurance will cover plastic surgery for other things. If a woman has very large breasts, for instance, and they are causing damage to her neck and back, many insurance companies will cover a reduction. I have…

you're not all pasty with bad teeth over there?

So in the other thread all women were fine, but now you're narrowing down the requirements?

Just kidding, I'm sure it's lovely - if you like pumpkin! (I don't like it.)

Why not have some broccoli and then have a donut?
-
And why is it always broccoli? There are so many other vegetables that could be, and should be brought up, if we're going to compare a vegetable to a food that some people consider nutritionally unsound. Broccoli isn't even all that nutritionally viable. It's fibrous, to be sure, and pretty darn gas-producing. Why don't we…

Congratulations to the Lemons! Welcome to the little lemon seed!

stop looking at yourself as new to this. you've been doing it for a long time, so look at it as as journey that you're still on. You've been on the uphill side, and not getting anywhere, but honestly, you've been making it hard for yourself. If you haven't been losing weight, it's because you've been eating too much, plain…

hopefully you are drinking the red wine separately from the peanut butter/maple syrup mix.

I just laughed out loud and woke up my dogs. So true.
