Hi Ladies! I joined MFP a while ago, but I've been trying to get back on the wagon after falling off a while back. ;) I'd love more friends for motivation and support. I've added some of you already but please add me if I missed you! I'm a 40 yo stay at home mom with 3 young kids.... Apologies in advance for all the…

Hi! I am a mother of 3 young kids (baby is 10 months today). And I'm turning 40 tomorrow. I was active in mfp before getting preggo with number 3 and am now getting back on track. I would love to lose 45 lb. I am currently training for a half marathon in November. Running 4 days a week. Strength training 3 days per week…

Just added you!

I have this - 6 finger width opening. Do you know how many finger widths your opening is? If it's less than 2, I think the general consensus is don't worry about it. I have a book called "Lose your mummy tummy" which has exercises to address this problem. And if you google "diastasis recti" you will find others. They kind…

Hey ladies - Bronze star for me last week. Saturday was my birthday and the presence of cake at my house wasn't good for the caloric intake this weekend. There is actually a hefty slice left and I have resisted so far even though it is delicious - yellow cake with strawberry buttercream, homemade. I think I'll give it to…

I use gloves - the bars were ripping up my hands without them.

Hey ladies - hope you all had a great weekend! I get a silver star this week, which I'm pretty proud of since I was bronze the previous two weeks. I had a busy weekend running around with the kids. I actually was feeling under the weather, but I had to be on deck anyway because my husband was working all weekend. But we…

Great job! I'm jealous of your lat pulldowns. I can't seem to up my weights on those and I'm at Stage 3. BTW, at my gym they have these pads that you can put on the bar while doing squats. I had the same problem as you are having and I thought the pads really helped. Kinda gross if you think about other people's sweat…

In my experience, full Stage 3 workouts have been in the 75-90 minute range (including warm-up and post-workout stretching). I don't rest the full recommended time between sets, either - that would take forever! Some people seem to get their workouts done in less time than that - I wish I could figure out how to do the…

I am not sure I can tell from the pictures, but I don't see how you can use that rack that's built in while standing. Maybe on the non-bench side? I would go for a separate rack that you can move over the bench if necessary (and I haven't read ahead to stages 6 & 7, but you don't need a rack on your bench for stages 1-5).…

Generally, I put the total weight, unless I'm doing something with my arms. So for step ups, total weight. But for dumbell chest press, cuban prone snatch, YTWLs, etc., dumbell weight. But it doesn't really matter, as long as you are consistent. I personally am not always consistent, so my log is pretty specific about…

Hey ladies - feeling good today - I feel like I nailed my workout yesterday (Stage 3 A3) - except for the jump lunges. That's my goal for A4 - get those lunges IN THE AIR. Eve - I am consistently hungrier on the day after lifting. I have a hard time eating more on the day of lifting, but I'm starving the next day. I always…

Hey ladies - got my 3rd A workout in yesterday. Maybe for A4 I'll actually be able to do all the jump lunges (I've been mostly subbing regular lunges because I'm so uncoordinated). The rest of my workout was great though. Major improvement over A2 - except that I wish I could up my weights on my incline chest press. I…

Another bronze star week for me.... Also didn't make it to the gym for my NROL workout on Sunday, so only 2 workouts last week. We had crazy rains here on Thursday which resulted in 4" of sewer backup in our basement (YUCK). We have a playroom and an office down there, so lots of toys and carpet lost. But it's clean now!…

I'm mid-way through stage 3 since starting the program in January. This is my first experience with heavy lifting and I love it so far. Congrats on the progress you have already made. Having two toddlers myself, I know it must have been difficult. But the twins aspect must add an additional layer. Happy birthday to your…

Hey ladies. Just checking in. I posted on the Stage 3 thread, but I did my second A workout yesterday and, while it was good, I think my performance was a little compromised by DOMS. I am hoping better stretching and maybe a little yoga will allow me to keep up the pace with only one day of rest between. Previously I…

lveh8 - Just did 3A2 yesterday and it took me 90 min (all in, including the BWMs). 3B seems to be a little shorter for me, 75 mins including the HIIT. Yesterday's workout wasn't great. I am trying to get in 3x/week verses 2x/week. So I only had one day of rest between 3B1 and 3A2. My quads were killing me yesterday (and…

Ah, well, I think it was a Bronze star week for me. My MFP log shows that I was 67 calories under. But my husband and I went out on Friday for a rare date night and had a really nice dinner, which I didn't log. It was actually *mostly* pretty healthy (oysters on the half shell, rabbit liver pate (shared), lyonnaise salad…

Hey ladies - can I join in? I am lawyer for a large firm in the Chicago area. I've been working part-time (20-30 hours/week) since my oldest was born (she's 3 now) and am grateful that it seems to be working out, more or less. I started my law career in NYC working for a small firm there. Same love/hate thing described by…

But my B lifts (especially lat pulldowns and YWTLs) were nowhere close to yours, lcuconley. Is that the combined weight for your YWTLs or did you use 20lb dbs? I could use 10 lb dbs for the cuban snatches in stage 2, but I had to drop way down for the YWTLs (measly 3lb dbs for sets 2 and 3 in B1!)
-
I think an abbreviated Stage 1 will be fine - especially because I think part of the reason that stage is so long is that it assumes you are still getting the hang of the lifting generally. Glad you are feeling better. Happy lifting!
-
lcuconley - Really impressive! I can see myself being where you are by the 4th round, based on my A1 lifts. Except for the reverse wood chop - that's amazing.
-
Jo - I totally agree.
-
Hey ladies - just starting stage 3 and thought I would join you here. Actually I got A1 and B1 in last week. A2 tomorrow. It's really challenging. That BWM is impossible - I cannot do jump lunges to save my life! So I did the BWMs, but just did regular lunges (and I did them after the jump squats, which I can do for some…

I also did my HIITs post lift on B days, but sometimes also after A.

I completed Stage 2 yesterday. I started out hating it, but I enjoyed it more as I got my form down. Didn't make as much progress as in Stage 1, but I'm pleased: A FSPP - 45 to 55 Step up - 40 (2x20lb dbs - no increase) DB one-point row - 20 dbs to 30 dbs static lunge - 2x25 lb db (no increase) push ups - BW - getting…

Got it. Thanks!!
