I'm still a 10.5 after a 90lb + weight loss. I used to get wide width shoes, but now I think the regular width is fine.

Just heard My Sharona on the radio the other day. Been in my head ever since.

Same here. Lost 95lbs by counting. I log every day in maintenance. I've almost hit my 1000 day streak (984). It only takes a few minutes a day to log what I eat. I will always have to count, otherwise I'd put the weight back on within 2 years.

I plan my meals around Dinner. The catch, I need to plan what is for dinner the next day. If I know Dinner is 800 cals, that dictates how much I can eat the rest of the day. If there is something left over ... dessert.

I lost a considerable amount of weight when my wife was not interested. I'd plan my meals around what was for dinner. If dinner was high calorie, I cut back the rest of the day. if dinner wasn't too high, I'd splurge at lunch, or actually have ice cream for dessert.

I need the numbers in my face to prevent myself from making bad decisions. It only takes like 5 minutes a day to log everything in MFP. 891 day streak. Would be almost 1100, but missed 1 day (damn super bowl 3 years go).

Fruit! I rarely ever ate it in the past, now I have some kind of fruit most nights for a snack instead of the crap I used to eat. I can eat quite a bit of fruit for only a couple of hundred calories.

But Liquor is quicker!

Most people gain back because once they achieve their goal the "diet" goes out the window and they start eating like they used to before the "diet". The trick is to continue to watch what you eat.

I know exactly how you feel. I was overweight all my life. I went from 262 to 165 in a little over a year. And for a while it was like OMG I ate over my calories today. I'm going to wake up and weigh 20 lbs more. Of course that is impossible, and my rational mind knows it, but that doesn't stop the impulse. The good news…

Planning makes weekends easier for me. I usually know what is for every meal over the weekend (unless going to a party, BBQ, etc.). If dinner is going to be high calorie, I try to make up for it by having lo cal breakfast or lunch. If I want a piece of cheesecake for dessert, that means a light dinner. If you don't know…

I had people do the same when I was losing weight. The best part was the people who would talk to my friends behind my back and tell them I needed to stop losing weight. My friends would tell me about it and we'd laugh.
-
Don't feel too bad. I once blew a 270 day streak. It's the only day I missed in the last 1070 days.
-
I always thought a diet meant you were good for a while and then when you lost the weight you wanted to lose, you go back to eating whatever you want again. This time I realized it is a lifetime of making good decisions instead of bad decisions (well more good than bad anyway).

So, it is OK for you to jump to conclusions about the guy in the wheelchair, but when people throw out different possibilities to explain his actions you get all defensive.
-
Think about it like this. You didn't gain weight overnight, and you can't lose it overnight either. I lost nearly 100 lbs, it took over a year. If your expectations are too high, you will get frustrated and give up.

I lost nearly 100 lbs when my wife was not on a diet. I plan my meals around dinner, if dinner is pizza, then I sacrifice at lunch. I usually ate a really lite lunch (no more than 500 calories, sometimes as low as 290). A 6" ham sub at Subway is 290 calories That allowed me to eat a mostly normal dinner (slightly smaller…

You're so right about the Double Rich Chocolate, but their Extreme Milk Chocolate is pretty good. Especially in milk, it's ok with just water.
-
I dip the filet in egg, and coat with Italian seasoned bread crumbs and bake in oven for 20 minutes at 400.

The mechanics of switching to maintenance is easy. Just eat more calories. The emotional aspect is difficult. I don't know about you, But I was overweight my entire life, so after losing 100 lbs (alright 98, rounding up) I had a hard time upping my calories at first. My irrational mind was terrified I'd gain weight back.…

If the OP asked for vegan options for increasing calorie intake, then you'd be all set. However, you're taking your vegan agenda and pushing it on others. You'll always get criticized for that.

The recipe builder in MFP is a great resource. I build a recipe and calculate the # of servings and you have a solid estimate of the calories.
-
A couple of sessions to make sure your form is good is fine, but a year commitment sounds like a waste.
-
Me too! Thought I was the only weird one.
-
I tried the double rich chocolate and hated it. The Extreme Milk Chocolate is a thousand times better.
-
I think I'll continue to count for the foreseeable future. I've been maintaining for about a year, and really never want to put the weight on again. If It means spending 5 minutes every day logging my food, it's a small price to pay.
-
This is what I do. I usually know what is for dinner and how many calories it has. From there I figure out what I can have for my remaining meals and stay within my limit for the day. I lost just shy of 100 lbs doing that. Now that i'm in maintenance, I still do it every day.
-
It's just water weight from the salt. It'll come off in a day or two. Have the cake, life it too short. Plus at 6' 2" and 157, you really should be eating more calories anyway.
-
See if you can schedule a staff member to work with you through your first couple of sessions. They can help show you how to use the equipment, show proper form and give advice on # of sets/reps you should be doing. Pay close attention to your form. The first gym I joined they took me through my 1st circuit and I went…

Do what works for you. I never eat breakfast. I usually only have a 300-500 calorie lunch, a 800-1000 calorie dinner and a 250-500 calorie snack at night (usually fruit). I'm in maintenance now, but when I was actively losing, I rarely had a snack.
