"Oh, I could never give up X food or eat like you do. I like/love to eat." Well, I like to eat also, but I also like not being fat, so if that means I need to cut back on the crap, then that's what I'm going to do.

I hit puberty with a thud at age 11, which was grade six. I was horribly self conscious of my developing and changing body, and I was teased about it too. As I got older, the only physical activities I wanted to participate in were those I could do solo: bicycling, jogging, shooting baskets. I also wasn't raised in a…

Thrift stores are great. I have lots of hardly used things from local thrift stores. Probably the best thing I have ever thrifted is a moss green suede Eddie Bauer jacket with no signs of wear, soft as butter, for $19.99. I have better luck at Value Village than Goodwill, but hey, thrift stores are terrific.

Yes, I need the accountability to keep the weight off. It's too easy for me to think that I am eating proper portions when in reality I am eating far too much.

I like Celestial Seasonings fruit blends, Tazo's Wild Sweet Orange (like sunshine in a cup), Bigelow Vanilla Chai, and Harney makes some wonderful caffeinated and noncaffeinated teas. Stash has a nice decaf vanilla chai. Maybe a shorter answer would have been what teas I don't drink...

I will be 40 at the end of July, and I would like to be more fit then than I am now. Funny how a milestone birthday can inspire us to get a move on.

Can I get it in writing, MFP? It's not my favorite feature since I find it wildly inaccurate, but it's easy enough to ignore.

If you plan a treat into your day, you might feel less deprived. The more deprived you feel, the more likely you are to fall off the wagon. How about a couple of pieces of dark chocolate a couple of times a week, or something like that? I find I also feel deprived if I dramatically cut my fat intake, so I make sure I get…

This thread also reminds me of the old Bobby Bare song, "Numbers": I was sittin' in Friday's suckin' on a glass of wine When in walked a chick who almost struck me blind Had wet blue eyes and her legs were long and fine On a scale of one to ten, I'd give her a nine. Now on my scale there ain't no ten's, you know Nine is…

I'd talk to the mom first, then if nothing came of it, call the cops. What a crap situation for you and your wife.

Entertaining reading, for certain.
