  • I would say bologna to that. I don't think I"d burn anywhere near that many cals for doing just those exercises.
  • I would buy whatever pair the running store says will work with your feet/gait. Even if you are just starting out. It's worth it even if you end up just walking in them.
  • In again this month. I'm shooting for 75, if I stick to my training schedule, I should go over though.

  • Am I the only one reading the Divergent Series? I'm half way through the second book. Will finish it quickly.
  • I think you need new shoes. When my running shoes (even if you are just working out in them and not running) get too worn, I'm due for shoes.
  • I'm doing my second 10K the last weekend in April. It is the Wounded Warrior 10 at Ft. Eustis Army Base. Then I'm thinking (pretty sure) I'm going to do the Crawlin' Crab Half in Hampton on Oct 5th. I think I will have my son (he's 7 and his body is built for running) do the kids fun run on the 4th. He is excited! ETA that…
  • Just slow down, a lot. Who cares how fast you are as long as you put in the miles.
  • In the middle of the summer this last year, a lady running was stabbed when running at a popular jogging path. (It was not filled with people that day) At that point, the semi secluded city park that I run at was completely off limits even though the stabbing didn't occur in our city. I do miss that park too. Dirt path,…
  • ^^Yes what they said.^^
  • Start slower then you think you need to run. Much slower. Don't worry about speed, speed will come with time out running.
  • The only time my husband does not carry is when he is out exercising and at church. He's a sheriff and the city he works for is not a very nice city. All be it for us to run into an ex-inmate who will recognize him and not be happy that hubby made him obey the rules while incarcerated. There have been times when he has…
  • ^^Thanks! I was fitted for the pair I have. I am wearing Brooks Ghost 6 running shoes. Now, they said, I am running fine but I have a sports med DR who about a year ago has me using inserts for pronation and P.F. Since putting the inserts in my shoes, I have not had any issues with my P.F. at all. I really need to go back…

  • mmmm poutine, best thing ever! And I wouldn't put ketchup on it.
  • I gotta agree with you there! Children awake and happy at dawn is not fun. I am just happy the sun won't be setting at the end of my runs though.
  • Yay for no more dark ages!!!!
  • Thanks Carson! I've been running for about 15 months but just got serious about it. I have about 20 pounds left to drop and I'm sure that will help me as well. I am wondering, I have looked through Hal Higdon's intermediate training program. (the novice one looks too easy). Would this be too hard for me? I don't have…
  • I loved running in the rain this past summer. Cold rain, not soo much, warm rain it's wonderful. People look at your like your nuts, but I'm sure they have never tried it. If they had, they would understand why I grin like a fool while running in warm rain.
  • Did the Ft. Eustis 10K on March 1st. Goal was 60-70 mins with a great possibility of coming in at 65 mins. I came in at 1:04 almost dead on prediction!
  • UGH we just got sleet and will get rain today here on the coast of VB. So tired of it! I loved running in the rain this summer, it was lovely. Looking forward to doing it again. running in the freezing weather and rain, not so much.
  • I didn't do any really training for this run. I run 3 times per week and just keep my pace around 10-12 mins and do between 5-6 miles each time. I got registered for this one by mistake. My Mom pulled up the info she though was going to be for the late April race (she had already registered) and I sat down and filled out…
  • I'm in the one day won't hurt you club. I would just make it a wash. You'll be fine. As long as you don't do that ALL the time, it's all good.
  • I did my first ever "real" run yesterday, a 10K. I will be running that course again in 2 months for a Wounded Warrior run, so I'm going to try to best my time. I ran it in 1:04. Oh and it was sponsored by a local running club and had about 125 runners. Boy, they are FAST!! Goodness Gracious!!! That and it was held on an…
  • Ok, so I'm in for 60, please. Off to make a ticker. Apparently, I can't figure this out....LOL Will try later. [img][/img]
  • I'm fairly certain my son is Calvin incarnate.....LOL
  • +1 for answering him back in such an awesome way!
  • I think this is honestly why this word is still hanging around as much as it is. In the school setting until recently children were labeled MR that is, Mentally Retarded. The new label is now ID that is, Intellectual Disabilities. Some special needs classes I've been in (I am a sub in my city, I'm am attached to one school…
  • My son (he's 7) loves this show!!! He watches the old transformers on Netflix at my parent's house (we don't have it) and on demand with our cable at home. He also loved the original Transformers cartoon movie! He's a Transformer's buff and can name them all.
