  • I’m soo glad o wasn’t born with that gene. I love cilantro.
  • I work in a primary school and when we headed back the week before labor day a coworker said: "Oh I guess you aren't running now that we are back to work." I said not at all. I will find the time to run. There are 24 hours in a day. I can reserve at least 1-1.5 of them for ME.
  • Ragnar running looks soo fun. Love the skirts!
  • Hills, Hills, Hills. They do a body good in many ways.
  • I just finished my first half this passed weekend. My goal was just to finish. That really is the only goal you need for your first half. And to boot, I was clocking more miles than 19 per week when I started half training. Remember, it's not about time you first big race, it's about the finish.
  • My Mom didn't start running until she was 62. Just this passed weekend at 63 she finished her fastest 5K at 33:30 I think it was. She placed 3rd out of 24 female runners in her age bracket and that's after ONE YEAR of training! I can only see her getting faster as she runs more. When I first started running with her, she…
  • I did the Shell Yeah! Challenge for the Crawlin' Crab 5K and Half Marathon weekend this weekend. It's the 5K on Saturday with the Half the day after on Sunday,. What an awesome experience for my first 5K and Half! I've only done two really really small local 10Ks. Here are my results, I hit the nail on the head for pace…
  • I did an 11 miler last weekend in preparation for my very first half. I've been running two years. My pace was around 11:30 per mile.
  • I have no fear of dogs, I grew up with them and my parents raised them. We have owned labs. Our first until she died of cancer and we have our current one who is 3. Both weigh in the 65-75lbs weight range, they are big for a family dog but great. You can count me in the group with people who have NO problem with kicking an…
  • Thanks! We are going to take the 5K really slow. Not trying to break any records. We did 11 this morning, the weather was perfect, the sky was overcast and we got out a tad earlier than normal. We held an 11:30ish pace. So, a great run.
  • Good luck everyone, have a great time racing!!
  • I think size can be relative when it comes to running. I've seen people pass me who are bigger, I've seen people pass me who are smaller than me. The fastest I've ran a 5K in is 27 mins. I am 5'3'' and weight 139 lbs.
  • I gave up wearing underwear when running a long long long time ago. My skirts have spankies under them and my compression carpis, I just don't bother. It's much better.
  • We have pretty strict dog laws and that didn't stop me from getting attack. The lady who owned the dog wasn't following the laws. That doesn't stop me from running with nothing though. If I know I will run through the dog's neighborhood, I have a large stick with a knot on the end of it to carry with me. Last time, I…
  • The cost for adoption through the foster care system is WAY WAY WAY less costly than a round of IVF. Seriously, there are 1,000 of children who need homes. The agency we looked into (when we were going to do a private infant adoption which is VERY costly) had a HUGE HUGE HUGE 4 inch binder FULL of children age 6 months to…
  • The only med the GI has him taking right now is Lialda, nothing else. Should the GI be trying more since he is still having symptoms after 5 months? He has basically told us it will take time. Just keep taking the medication and over time, everything will even out.
  • I will mention possibly seeing a nutritionist and see if they can help some. His GI is good but is not being really much of a help in the when can I run without issues department or the when am I going to have to stop running to the bathroom, or what should I be eating. Thanks though!
  • I was raised on REAL maple syrup. My husband was raised on FAKE maple syrup. I have spoiled him. He can now tell the difference and refuses to use the fake stuff. It seriously tastes like plastic. It.Is.Disgusting. I can't stand mayo, never have never will. I even "hold" it if I order a burger at a diner.
  • I know the distance isn't that long (I'm starting half training next week, my first) but today I did 3 miles in just under 27 mins! In hot and humidity!! I was excited!!!!! That's my fastest 3 miles yet! I also did almost 100 miles last month, another first!!!
  • Since I willingly step out my door and take my daily RUN in the rain (even when it's cold) I think you should go to the gym. It's worth it!!!!!
  • After scaring way way too many people, I literally had someone tell me I was like some sneaking up running ninja, I decided I need to warn people. I even had one person holler, do you work for the police, you're super quiet!! Even my husband says I am super quiet (my feet not my motor mouth) when I run. So, now I warn…
  • ^^I agree. I was amazed at how much faster I was this past fall after running all summer in the sweltering heat. (last summer was my first official summer being a runner). I just felt soo fast and soo strong! I am hoping that holds true for this coming fall and winter!
  • ^^^ What can Brown do for you? ^^^
  • You know what, running in a sports bra is not a big deal. It's better than heat stroke. People are going to stare, who cares? When the humidity gets up there, it's awful. When I peel off my shirt and tuck into my running skirt, it feels much much cooler. It does make a difference. Really it does. And no, I'm not some…
  • My Mom is in her early 60's and has taken up running!! You can do it!! She has worked up to (her longest to date, but we are getting ready to do half training) an 8 mile run!! She can hold 12 mins miles and I'm super proud of her, even though I can run circles around her.
  • I have soo done this. It looks more strange when you are running through a business' sprinklers though.
  • I love that quote. I knew I was a running from the first day I laced up those shoes and had the intestinal fortitude to run out in public no matter what I looked like or what others thought of me passing by. :) Now, addicted to running, yes to many things I've read here: I don't like to be called a "jogger" there is no…
  • Listen to ALL of this!!! Wise words here!
  • But were those Nikes fitted by a local running store?
