  • The more I run, the more hungry I am.....it's called rungry......LOL I'll just say ditto to what others have said. I'd be careful adding miles too quickly, you can get hurt.

  • I think we would pay money to see this........
  • NOM NOM NOM NOM!! Those were my favorite!!
  • Awe you all are awesome! I already spray on sun screen because I got too tan last summer. Maybe by mid August when it feels like Hades, I'll do it. Boy does it get hot in August.
  • Did the running store "fit" you for the shoe you are asking for or did you tell them that was the shoe you were looking for? I would have them fit you for shoes and go with what they tell you to buy not what you want to ask for. As far as inserts, they have made all the difference for me. I'd wear them until you get used…
  • I was attacked by a huge dog and successfully defended myself and came away with nothing but a pretty badly pulled core muscle that took me off running for 3 weeks. So, if I am running that way at all, I carry a large stick that has a natural knot at the end of it. That running route is to my parent's house and I only run…
  • It brings life into focus. I have truly learned to love it. Good days and bad days, running is there. I have learned to have more confidence in the body I have because well, it can carry me a damn long ways and that means more to me than being a size 0.
  • It wouldn't work well for me either. If I want it, dag nab it, I'm gonna eat it. If I don't I will not be pretty later. NO food is off limits in moderation. And yep, every now and then I eat a cinnamon roll. Such yumminess!!!!!
  • I stopped watching The Doctors a long long long time ago. They did a show on Pediatric GERD and it was filth! Pure lies, all of it. My son had many medical issues when born one of them being very severe GERD (think screaming for hours on end and never sleeping ever) so severe he ended up tube fed. What garbage they put out…
  • Like others said, your body gets used to it. Make sure you are hydrated and you will be fine. I have run early in the morning and you will be surprised at how many cars are on the road headed to and from work at that time of the day. It may be that I'm just in a strong military town and they all head to work super super…
  • FWIW, I would take that zucchini and add some stewed tomatoes, onions, and tons of yummy seasoning and eat it that way. I would probably add alot of cheddar cheese to it and throw it in the oven. SUPER YUMMY!!!!! My grandmother used to make something similar when I was little but we sliced the zucchini. My husband who…
  • mmmmmm pasta. I run so I can eat alot of pasta.....yummy. My sister swears by spaghetti squash. I am a bit suspect.
  • I run pretty cords free so I have NO idea. And I do mean, completely cords free. Anyways, my Momma runs with a HR ( chest strap, until it annoyed her and she stopped) It's rate was just about exactly as that Runner's World running calorie tracker. It was eerier how close they were.
  • Just to chime in and agree that the Sports medicine DR I saw and the people at the running store both say that OTC orthotics are just as good. I have been using my current inserts for about 18 months and just got a new pair of shoes and let them inspect my inserts, they say they are still good to go and can wear them for a…

  • I simply will not run without my PF OTC inserts in my shoes. With the inserts in at my local running store, they can't see my pronation when they check me out in a pair of shoes. Without them in, it's very obvious!

  • What about liquid bandage? Would that work? FWIW my son had open heart surgery when he was 6 months old, they don't get a "zipper" any more because they don't use staples here at our children's hospital, they super glue them shut. Seriously, I am dead serious. They used a surgical steri glue. Leaves an absolutely beautiful…
  • Knew better than the washer and dryer, I just let them air out right now after running in the rain. Newspaper!! Why didn't I think of that. You all are geniuses!!! :flowerforyou:
  • One can never have enough running friends.
  • Thanks! I think also, the heat is playing into it as well. We went from 60's to 90's in a matter of a couple weeks. It's like summer decided to show up and stay. No fluctuations. I will keep plugging away those slow miles and not worry too much about it. I think it would be better to take it easy and not pull that muscle…
  • What's worse is watching it with your then 6 year old when it finally dawns on him that his beloved Lab, Onxy died and yes we put her in a hole in the ground. He knew she died but I don't think it dawned on him until we watched the movie and he saw marley get buried. I can still hear him now, Mommy, Mommy did you and Daddy…
  • This would be really bad shop etiquette to do at a local running store. Just plain bad form. :( My local running store will take shoes back. Heck, I ran outside in a pair for two weeks and they still took them back. Nothing like home grown running stores.
  • You can totally do this! Just slow your pace down so you can last the 6.2! Let us know how it goes.
  • I am sooo ready to hit the enter button on that half on June 1st!!! Now my Momma (who runs with me) is cheering me on!!!! The only downside, she will be out of town. I really think I'm going to register for it. I have heard (locally) that it's such a pretty run through historic Williamsburg.
  • YUM, peanut butter, my go to pre run meal (On toast!) All kinds of yumminess!!!
  • I have returned a pair of running shoes to my local running store after 2 weeks. I did not have my receipt and the lady even remembered me. When I walked out with the other pair she told me, "If those don't work, bring them back."
  • ^^Yes I think that would be reasonable. I could keep up my miles during the week like I am not and do a 9 miler this next weekend and add a mile every week until then and should do great. I think I might.....my husband is gonna kill me!! LOL Oh and maybe I can convince my Momma to do it with me. After all, she did just…
  • ^^You're in my neck of the woods!!!^^
  • I found this one on May 31st. http://www.halfmarathons.net/usa_half_marathons_virginia_run_for_the_dream_half_marathon.html Would that be too soon? That's only a month. My longest run I have done for my 10K training was 8 miles. I did it in about 90 mins a nice slow pace. (I stayed around a 12 mins mile pace with my…
  • I've not done the Rock and Roll Half in my area but I as well have heard they are just awesome and well worth the entry fee.
  • Thanks everyone. I am pretty sure I will keep up the running and try to stay around the 80 mile mark per month. I have found another 10K but it's not until the end of Sept. I will look around and see if there is a half somewhere in the summer that isn't too costly. (due to later registration) I bet I can find one.
