  • My goal was 75 and I logged 78.15 for the month!!! WHOHOO!!!!
  • 1KG is 2,2lbs. I had a medically needy child, the entire american Hospital system is in metric.
  • I always duck into 7-11s to go pee or into a Dunkin' store to potty. Or where ever if you need to go. Don't be shy, drink that water and dash into somewhere if you need to pee. Yep, they will look at you funny but who cares! People do it every day in "regular" clothes why not running clothes?
  • Ran my second 10K this morning and came in at 1:03 and that beat my old record by 2 mins!! YAY ME!!
  • Our local marathon here just had someone die at it and the one to the south of me in S.C. had 2 people die just a couple weekends ago. It's nothing to play around with and certainly not wing it. It's unsafe.
  • Thanks!
  • I love to have a caramel frapp (light with whip) as a special treat when I have done a long run. I can't tell the difference but that is just me maybe, everyone is different.
  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my Brooks Ghost 6 shoes!!!!! If they stop making them, I'll be full of sad. I have to use pronation inserts inside them but I'm on my second pair. Will probably move to the Ghost 7 when it comes out.
  • I get this every now and again. It normally means that the finger giving person thinks I've cut them off at a light or something when in reality they were supposed to stop at that right on red or where ever we ran into each other.....people are nuts. Ignore them as long as they are only shoving the finger at you or…
  • Just to reiterate what the others have said, did those shoes come from a running specialty store (many are mom and pop shops) wear they personally watched you run and fitted you with the correct shoes? Do not buy your running shoes from a big box store wear all the employees do is just bring you the shoes and watch you put…
  • I have finally hit the mark and I"m running about 25 MPW right now. I try to log every day (I don't always) and as long as I'm staying about 250-300 calories of my goal (according to MFP) then I'm dropping weight. Until I hit that amount of MPW, I was staying the same. So, for me as well, it seems like 25 is the key MPW.
  • Thanks! got a question. I have notice that on my tempo runs that it seems much easier to finish with a 10 min mile average. Is this normal? Is that a strategy I should bring into my 10K? In order to do my tempo runs, I break them into minute segments since I run cords free (completely) I use a small kitchen timer that fits…
  • Dag-gum-it I'm slow!! But, I get faster every week!!!!! Glad you both did a great job. I'm hoping to break my 1:04 10K on my race next weekend. I really think I can. I should have finished under an hour but, they said it was flat, yeah, right. It was def. NOT a flat course. Adjusted training to do lots of hills…
  • I guess I'm the odd one out. I literally run with nothing but the clothes on my back and feet on my shoes. My sunglasses (they are rubber tipped so they don't slide anywhere) on sunny days is a must. I track my distance through google's pedometer so I know where to go for the distance I want to cover. When the weather is…
  • I don't think I would run there anymore. Not because I think running in a cemetery is bad (I wouldn't do it, it's not really a "thing" people do here) but because it's too secluded. This is a very bad thing. I run only on public streets, heavily trafficked ones. We have a great running (trail) park here that I love love…
  • Runner's Glide will fix the rash issue. I run in running skirts pretty much all summer, when I get done I have sweat all the way from my waist band to the bottom hem, sometimes I will drip, and I don't get chaffing. When my running miles get up there and I sweat too much, I apply more mid run at some potty as some random…
  • Yep, I sure do get out there and get it done. Pretty much a sure thing I won't be tired when I'm done.
  • FWIW I was yelling at the owner as she was shashaying into the house and she turned around and said, He ain't gonna bite you!!! I said, he almost did if I hadn't kicked him, he charged me TWICE!!!!! Other than that ONE sentence, she didn't say a word to me at all!!!! NUTS I tell ya!! ETA I have a friend in this area who…
  • Pancit isn't too bad as far as calories if that's your worry. Love me some pancit!!
  • THANKS some good advice here!!! Hills don't bother me and I do some pretty good sized ones over the interstates but the wind, goodness. I guess I need to make my mind set the same as when I am running up one of those big hills (I like those) and it will be better. Mind over matter!
  • Oh, I'm not the only one who does that with cup cakes!! I always always always peel off the bottom, eat it, then savor the tops!!
  • If you have ever done a long run with underwear on, you will never wear underwear to work out in again ever. :)
  • ^^Yes that^^ they should take them back.
  • I would bring them back. If you are running in them, go to a running store and get fitted and buy what they tell you to money be darned......
  • I'm sad, I only have one pair. My Brooks Ghosts 6's. I will buy a second pair of this shoe when it goes on sale in June, I think it is. This is my second pair of Ghost's 6 shoes. I tried the Brooks Ravenas and they put me in pain.....and I really should need a stability shoe. I put inserts into my Ghosts. But when she had…
  • I took rest on Thursday and then did about 3.2 miles in the neutral shoes on Friday and was supposed to do 6 today. My 10K is the last week of this month. I"m not worried about it, even with taking time off, I will still be able to run in. In the back of my mind though, I worried about my Half in Oct and making it through…
  • The ladies on the Women's Running Club on facebook have been all running randomly all over the U.S. and tagging photos of themselves wearing their tutus and then posting (tagging) Self Magazine and the lady they dissed. Basically, trying to blow up both facebook pages and send more business to the Tutu's page. It's been…
  • Weight loss is all about calories in versus calories out, so yes you can as long as you stay in your calorie goal for the day.
  • I would do the whole 30 days before worrying about not losing weight.
