Not true. MFP defaults to this if you want to lose 2 pounds per week and you don't have a really high BMR. If I ate 1200 calories, I wouldn't lose 2 pounds per week. You've been at this a week only! That is hardly any time. It is too bad that our culture wants, and is accustomed to, instant gratification. But get over it…

Son, you just went full potato
Oh my, this is getting better by the minute... *pulls up a chair, opens up a beer*
Can I make a daiquiri instead? Otherwise, I'm in. Massive chuckles on a rainy 4th of July! Who knew?

I would tend to think that you ARE starting today! Getting rid of stuff you don't want around, tempting you, IS a start. Just keep the momentum going throughout the weekend. Don't get rid of the tempting stuff by eating it (it isn't wasting it if it won't be good for you), things like that. If you want to wait to start…

Go to a doctor.

Then figure it out yourself if you have given the exact number of calories! Why post this? You probably gained a bunch and a lot of it is water weight. Get on the darn scale and assess. I doubt it was "exact" number of calories because I track mine and they never add up to nice round numbers. Time to be a big girl, stop…

No, less than once a day is NOT abnormal! Some people go less often. The important thing to remember is if someone starts going less or more often for THEM. That is a call to the doctor. But, and just curious here, the OP must be joking.... Who would doubt if pooping is good for you? I don't get it.

Don't set yourself up for failure. Doing diet and exercise "correctly" should help you MINIMIZE lean body mass loss, but it won't stop it. Weight loss, no matter how you do it, is a combination of loss of water, fat, and muscle.

I get what the OP means. When you go to the doctor for your annual check up, they put you on the scale. They don't take measurements or ask you how your clothes are fitting. Weight may not be the only measurement tool, but it a BIG measurement tool. I think, if people are honest, most will admit to feeling this from time…

Excellent advice!

Absolutely PURRFECT!

Oh, I so totally get this. When I was almost 25 pounds heavier, I didn't necessarily like it, but I wasn't extremely concerned, either. Now that I'm at my goal weight, I can't stop seeing that my stomach is still really poochy (is that a word?) and my thighs are still quite heavy. Makes me feel like I need to get down a…

Gee, I'm 5'6" and in a size 4-6 and weigh 115. Don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Everyone else is in a 4-6 weighing 10-15 pounds more than I do. Hmmm,m

Believe me, I get how you are feeling. You feel defeated putting in all this hard work and then you find out you weigh more. But listen to the others who have said what I am going to say: it isn't fat. Weight goes all over the place. You will have ups and downs, but your trend over time will show your weight going down I…

Your BMI is about 26 so, yes, this does put you into the overweight category. Unless you are extremely muscular....? That being said, you didn't really state what goal you have. Do you want to lose weight? You sound kind of unsure about way you are, is that accurate?

Sounds awesome. Congratulations. I'm sure with this attitude, you will have the best beach vacation!
The point being pretty much everyone who is losing weight is getting a lot of fat in their diet :-)
Ummm, no. You don't have to have a lot of fat in your diet to lose weight.

If you have any of the hereditary lipid problems, then I certainly would suggest that you evaluate your dietary cholesterol. This includes the triglycerides as well as dietary cholesterol can affect your lipid profile.

Piffle! Eating 1200 calories is NOT going to stop weight loss. Goodness, if it boils down to calories in vs calories out (and personally, I do believe other factors can come into play, but for simplicity sake, let's say this), how can eating lower amounts of calories cause you to stop losing weight? What probably happens…

What a scary situation! I think that you have an amazingly great attitude about it. Knowing you need to lose the weight for your health; well, it is my belief that this will be a powerful motivator for you. Best of luck. I'm sure you can do it.

Thanks to everyone. Especially about immediately freezing leftovers- would you believe that never even occurred to me?! I think my older boy is a bit interested in what he has to do for his health, at least, I'm trying to encourage that. Thank you all so much.

Thanks. Funny thing is, the meals we cook I think are healthy (for the most part), and some of it is probably portion control. So maybe I'll make less so they can't come back for seconds. Problem is, I use leftovers for my lunches! I'm scared to death about off of their health, so keep the suggestions coming? I really…

You're 25, you haven't "hit that age". But, and this is my opinion only, I think you have some unrealistic expectations. Just because you eat more healthfully (and I applaud you on that), that doesn't magically translate into weight loss. It might translate into feeling better, but not automatic weight loss. Everyone will…

I think it depends on what is the food being eaten during the binge. If it is only processed, high sugar, high fat food (you know, the stuff that tastes fantastic), then I don't think the body is revolting. That is an emotional eating issue and if it is truly bad and the OP wants to change it, then seeking some therapy, or…

Agree with above poster. How could you get to your heaviest weight if you feel stuffed eating small amounts all the time? Go to YouTube and watch an episode or two of "Secret Eaters". It might give you some idea of what to look for so you know how to fix it. Best of luck!

I don't think this website is the place to go to answer your question. Call your doctor!

Yea! ????

I know how hard it is to reset your brain. Going from being obsessed about food, calories, and weight to a mindset of healthy isn't the easiest thing in the world. Those darn thoughts keep creeping back in and have a way of totally messing with our heads! But it is great that you recognize it because that is the only way…

Why is this always brought up? The OP didn't say he had any problem eating "clean". Heck, with the way that term is thrown about, we don't know what the OP really meant. But if they had no problem with wanting to eat whatever they believe "clean" to be, why is this an issue? Maybe they want to eat healthfully and, sorry,…

I was wondering the exact same thing!
