Doesn't sound like the coffee tastes good. Sounds like the sugar in your coffee tastes good.

For me, it would have to be potato chips and onion dip. Chips alone? No problem. Pair them with onion dip, and I'm in trouble. Yummy trouble, to be sure, but trouble.

This is scary. Don't follow this.

I wonder why this topic is so contentious? Milk might not be the most healthy thing for people. A study in the J Natl Cancer Inst, granted from 1998, showed. "Strong" association with milk consumption and prostate cancer. You'd have to review the article, because I don't recall their definition of "strong", but I believe…

Eat your carbs with some protein. That can help.

Try ground flax seeds. You can put them in anything (I even make my spaghetti sauce them it). Neutral taste and it can add some thickness to what you put it in. If you get whole flax seeds, fine, just remember that yu would need to grind them before you eat them.

Drop your plan when you are sick. Eat when you feel like it, don't when you don't feel like it. Try to force water because you don't want to add dehydration into the mix. Then pick it back up when you feel better.

Beans, peas, veggies. Heck,,on a calorie basis (e.g. 100 calories of broccoli and 100 calories of steak), broccoli has more protein. Romaine lettuce has a good amount of protein.

Too many fats is a bad thing. Dietary fat is stored as fat primarily. If you need to lose weight, then you already have enough stored fat. On average, 100 calories into you means 97 calories of fat stored on you. People can take a sample of your subcutaneous fat and actually identify where the fat came from; it isn't…

Carbs are not bad, where do people get this? Processed foods (table sugar, bleached flour, baked goodies, etc.) aren't the healthiest for you (one might say "bad" here). But fruits and vegetables are primarily carbs and in no way are they bad for you. Your brain can only use glucose for energy, it cannot use fats and…

A diet that is consistently high in protein can eventually cause kidney damage, but we're talking extreme diets with hundreds of grams of protein. As,long as you get some carbs in there, you should be OK. Just make sure you drink enough water.

OMG, I LOVE Cick-fil-As! Don't have them near where I live, though, so I only get to have them on road trips. Last one was a year ago, bit I can almost taste it. I don't care if these are bad for you or not, they are worth every calorie-filled mouthful!

Disagree totally, in my opinion. I'd just choose whole grain pasta over "regular" pasta. Tastes just as good to me, even better, actually! Just skip the cream-based sauces and stick to a normal portion (2 oz uncooked) and enjoy! Life would stink without pasta.

Guess I'm one of the older ones! I turned 50 last year and wanted to get myself in better shape. Lost the 30 pounds I needed to lose, started working out, and generally feel a lot better! Even started some weight training that I'm looking to take to the next level once I get over this stupid cold! I definitely want to ROCK!

I think I get what you're saying. Sometimes it is hard to feel you are worth it - because doing this requires that you put yourself FIRST sometimes. But you know what? You ARE worth it. And more than simply because you are a mom and you're a wife and a student. You're worth it because of who you are. Try and remember that…

I agree, BIG success! Congratulations!

Doesn't sound like you've even given yourself a chance to get ON the wagon, never mind falling off of it. Only you can decide when the time is right. Only you are going to know when you REALLY want to do this for yourself. Spend some time thinking about it because it will be a heck of a lot easier to make changes now then…

This EXACTLY! Honestly, you did come off a little like a 2 year old having a tantrum... "I want it NOW!". What we'd all give sometimes if we only gained 1 pound! You've got to learn patience and you've got to learn how to motivate yourself as well because your work will only benefit you. Just as giving up will only hurt…

Can't do much to help, as your diary is locked. If you want to open it up so that we can peek (you can always close it again later), we can try to help. But you got to give us something with which to work!

Congrats on starting your healthier lifestyle, we all applaud you. As foe when you should work out, that is totally up to you. Some people prefer morning, some evening and the only thing that matters is picking the time that you will stick to. I love morning workouts, but with kids, can't do it on the weekdays, so I do my…

This, definitely. Now we all know that no calculations are perfect, but for the vast majority of us, our calculated BMI is going to give us a good reference point. I'm glad you are feeling better, but I feel that you will be cheating yourself if you don't try to get to a healthy, average BMI. So many diseases have been…

Not to bring you down, but I think it is unreasonable. Mostly because you will have to severely restrict your food intake and really up the exercise. Ether one of these is hard, but the two together is a recipe for disaster! Try for 20 pounds in four months, heck, you might do better than that, but it will be easier and…

I'm bumping because I have the same question.

My own motto should be "Never go by what you see,in the mirror!" Your mind can play tricks. I'm not a psychologist so I have no idea why it does, but it does. I fin that I really need to rely, for now, anyway, on how others view me. I don't think this is a good l ong term solution, but until my mind catches up with my…

Don't push it if you are sick; it can only backfire. Take care of yourself, feel better, and, when better, kick *kitten*!

I do not understand why you need to eat this item. If you don't want it, don't eat it I must be missing something......
-
But you can eat very healthfully and gain weight by eating more than you need (I.e., calories). In the end, just regarding weight loss, it is all about calories. Of course, health involves other considerations, but you still can't eat more than you need and lose weight. Just ain't gonna happen.

Why would it irritate the **** out of you? Everyone has their own issues and I'm certainly not qualified to say whether or not the OP needs counseling, but lets just assume that a 5'5" 110 pound person were on this post feeling they are hugely overweight? I'd feel compassion and want to help. I don't understand being angry…

You have a great plan. Anything that you can think of to change from your past behavior is just more ammunition for you. Kudos for being logical when this whole weigh loss / exercise thing cam make one so emotional. God job!
