Priceless!! You're awesome....and damn if I don't miss the South :)

This may be a long shot but why don't you start the Couch to 5K program . . . .C25K.com. I was 50lbs. overweight, old as the hills and had smoked for 30+ years when I decided to start it over two years ago. I was feeling very similar to how you're feeling at the moment (less the husband issues) and decided I HAD to do…

I'm too tight to buy anything. I put my phone in a little snack bag and stuff it in my sports bra! It works!!

Love it! So impressive, congrats to you!! Checked out your diary and would love to have your recipe for lemongrass coconut chicken....sounds yummy :)

Endomondo....syncs with MFP and runs by GPS. Shows calories, mileage, time, etc for running, walking, aerobics, so on and so forth.
-
I run at 6am 5-6 days/wk. I drink LOTS of coffee before hand. On my long run I'll eat part of a banana but on my 4-5 miler I usually don't eat, but occasionally, might have a mandarin orange or part of a banana if my stomach is growling. Now that it's getting warmer I carry a handle of water with me.

I'm absolutely no authority as I haven't lost very much and I'm losing, but very slowly. With that being said, I think you may need to look at your macros and set them a little differently.....carbs-40%, protein-30%, fat-30% is my suggestion. I'm not certain but that should lower your carbs numbers if you stay within those…

Agree. ^^. I use Endomondo on my smart phone. It syncs with MFP and its free too. It gives average pace and mile times as well as calories burnt. You can find the area to sync it in the upper right corner of your home page where it has a box saying learn more, devices that sync. As for your speed, onward ho my friend.…

Love that! Good luck on your half :)

C25K is a great program. I did it when I was 50 and I'm still running. All the advise you've gotten here is good. I would add that the program works so take it easy, go slow and don't be afraid to move on to the next week. If you can finish the last day of the week perfectly, move on. I found that the C25K forums were…

I'm on vitamin D prescription -50,000 units and thyroid meds, have been for quite sometime. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago so I'm on hormone therapy as well. Long story short, had trouble losing weight in fact it was pretty nonexistent. Funny thing, I started MFP and in 60 days I've lost 10 lbs. I eat a tad above my BMR…

I started C25K when I was 50 yo. I had smoked for 30+ years and was 50 lbs overweight. I run around 20 miles a week now and just love it! Get started because like me, I'm certain you will wish you had started in your 40's, 30's or 20's! Just do it. The hardest part, as they say, is lacing up your shoes!! Enjoy :)

My first 5K was 35.43 (50yo). I haven't done one in over a year but my best time to date is 33.04. I know I'm slow and I'd love to be faster but I've decided I'm just not built for speed! Love it nonetheless though :)

I wasn't going to reply, but here I go. I did C25K the year I turned 50. I was 50 lbs over weight and had just stopped smoking after 30+ years. It's a great program and I'm sure you will do fine. I'm not going to repeat saying all the good advise you've gotten but will add one thing- don't be afraid to read and participate…

I love it! Kudos to you :)

If you can end each week accomplishing the program, move on! You're ready. For what its worth, I repeated week 4 when I was doing it. You'll do fine! My suggestion..... Other than wearing the right shoes and buying a good sports bra, slow down! Speed will come with time. It doesn't matter how slow you are.....if youre…

I put key and a few other choice items in a snack bag and place it in my bra. Actually, I've been known to have everything but the kitchen sink in my sports bra (which, if you don't have one, stop what you're doing and go this minute and get one)!! Enjoy the run! You'll do great :)

Planning a hike to the top of Pikes Peak the end of July with some girlfriends. My first 14er! Also planning to run my first half marathon in December. I'm kind of old ( as my kids would say) but, nothing ventured nothing gained!

Love it! WTG!

This^^!! I would add, don't hesitate to go to c25k.com and read or join in their forums. That helped me a lot because everyone is in the same boat you're in. Also, I think many people make the mistake of trying to run too fast. Remember, as long as you're "propelling" forward, I like to say, you are still running! Speed…

Love it! It's nice to know that you can lose weight and not eat "clean" every single day of the week. I like that you have made different choices while still eating the foods you love. It's called life and being practical. You will no doubt help a lot of people by sharing your story. Thank you!

When I first started running I started on the treadmill. I moved outside after a month or two and it took a week or so to get the hang of it and pick my times up. As of now, I run outside and absolutely hate the treadmill! A few days this year I ran on the treadmill due to weather and would honestly rather shoot myself in…
