Interesting concept, Azdak, about height and the elite distance runners. Question: In the world of competition, how would body type (height and muscle type) affect the type of activity one could participate in??? I wonder how this would this apply in the swimming world, for example? You have swimmers who are sprinters -…

This sounds great! Trying this on for size for dinner tonight. Also, thanks so much for adding a recipe that works for two. Much appreciated. Have a great day.

At 65 plus, I have two bad knees (but from old injuries that occurred when I used to dance hard core about 15 years ago). I was told at that time to hold off as long as "could" (when I was 50ish) as the surgeries would get better and better - from orthopedic specialists/surgeons. I am now at the point where holding off is…

Quick question....for those that don't understand kg...can you translate the formula to put that into pounds... Ex: how many kg=100 pounds? That would help.

You are doing absolutely incredible.... A true inspiration to all of us, for sure! Can't wait to see you in another year's worth of pictures next August!!!! Keep up the good work.

I'd like to know as well.....I found that if you say "delete" them....it still saves them in a "deleted items" listing.....The other issue I am having is that when you have accumulated 2-4 pages or more of "once in a blue moon" type of food item....you can't go through the extra pages and tag all the ones you want to…

Wow, girl.... You look fabulous! Although I am in the 65-something age group category now, I -- like you -- always had a small waist (or potential of one when I was slim and dancing all the time), a "wasp waist" some might call it.... 38/26/40ish in my prime. I always was "jealous" of those with "no butts" and wished for…

I would say both, along with monitoring exactly what it is you eat. Some people can eat more carbs, others more protein, and yet others can balance both with proper amount of fat intake. I also would go by your doctors recommendation -- just move. I, like you, do all three things --- cardio with elliptical; weight…

As always, some great information. Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise and knowledge with MFP.

Yes, I actually gained 5 pounds one time and got very discouraged. What I did, though, was weigh in the following day after a really heavy workout of 55 minutes on ellliptical and another 60 plus minutes doing weight machines. Something to NOT DO, I was informed by many who replied to my post. I think that there are so…

OOPS... I accidently linked back to your page..... Here is the link of great inspiration of what a 5 pound difference made on this gal who did workouts, but did not see the scale move either. Be inspired: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/689150-wow-this-pic-just-brought-me-to-tears-before-after

Know how you feel.....the scale can be an evil depressing thing at best.....HOWEVER, there are many, many posts that address "don't look at the scale...rather look at the inches lost and/or how your clothes are starting to fit".... And this is so true. Just as an FYI, I am in the 65+ category and am looking to drop about…

I THINK EVERYONE HAS SAID IT ALL BEFORE!!!!!!!!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I too have been frustrated on seeing the scale as there has only been a 5 or 6 pound loss over the last couple of months....even though I know my derriere has definitely toned and tightened (I can tell because of the way my pants now fit)....and I…

Hello there.... I agree with imchicbad above.... ...You are loosing fat and gaining muscle....loosing inches, but the scale is not cooperating..... That is why relying on the "scale" is so un-inspiring (at least for me....and for others that I have been reading about). Just so you know, I am in the "Over 60+ crowd, and…

I just started Zumba last week as an addition to my workouts. I am in the 60-something plus catergory, and joined MFP about a month ago after I stumbled upon it.....and love it!. A word of caution about Zumba if you have knee issues (as I have the same problem)....It does involve a lot of knee movement to make the moves…

Day four, and you are doing great! Love MFP!!!!!

Cheddar cheese does have protein....but it also has lots of fat (the bad kind)....That has been our downfall. Check out nuts and beans...they do have fat (but I believe it is the good kind) --- but a good source of protein. Unfortunately, what I have found is that protein and fat almost go hand in hand with one another....…

You have made a "positive" step forward by coming out and addressing the issue....and at 20, that is totally admirable. Trust and believe in yourself, and what this support group at MFP can do for you. Coming to the realization that you are not alone in this endeavor is a huge step forward....and as you read the success…

Good God I would really hope that is not the case! :)

Well I can always hope, right??? Haha!

Thanks to all of you who replied. I was feeling pretty depressed about this yesterday after 'weigh in'. -- But then (as many of you had alluded to), I had done a "major" muscle and cardio workout the day before -- the most I had ever done in one visit to the gym. -- 55 minutes on the Elliptical and 75 minutes on 11…

Thanks for the suggestion....I do, but probably not as often as I check the scale. I have noticed a loss in inches. Maybe I will stay away from the scale for a week or two and see what happens. Just reading some other posts, and all of them seem to suggest that as I am building muscle, I may also be retaining water in…

I agree.... I think it depends on body type, bone structure, etc. When I was younger (many moons ago) and weighed 135 everyone said I looked over 15 years older than I was, and I was tired. Found my best weight was between 145-150...That is my current goal....Especially if you are "well-endowed" and have hips. Can't do to…

Amazing story...I share a lot of your experience from the earlier years....except I was fortunate enough to have had a very supportive and encouraging family. Now in my 60 something years....and weight for me has always been a challenge. Many years of "yo-yo" dieting starting at about age 18 -- including the "starvation"…

Hi Charlotte...I also am new to MFP (about two weeks now) -- and like you, have never logged my calorie, carb, protein and fat intake in the 50 plus years I have been a "yo-yo" dieter. It was always difficult for me since I was, and still am, always on the run. Briefly about me, I have used almost every type of diet out…
