You SHOULD feel like Superman! Wow! And I agree with the other posters who say you should create an occasion to wear that dress -- you look fantastic! Am so happy that you're finally doing everything you want to do. Very inspirational -- thanks for sharing!

If you share with us what your calorie target is (the number, not just "TDEE," which will differ from person to person), then people who have that same calorie target and are willing to share their diaries with you can speak up. My target, for example, is 1808-2000 cals/day. If that's what you're aiming for, too, feel free…

You should definitely be proud of yourself! Keep up the great work!

I didn't see avocados, one of my major healthy staples, especially for fiber purposes

Clean Eating Magazine had a really good quiche recipe with ham and green onions, but of course you can put anything you want in it: http://www.cleaneatingmag.com/recipes/classics-made-clean/ham-green-onion-quiche/ I've made it several times and LOVE it.

Another vote here for the slow release ones. I take two (doctor's orders), not just one, each night before going to bed. I have never had even a hint of a side effect, although I do try to eat a LOT of fiber, as in minimum 30g per day. The pills have made a huge difference in raising my iron levels. Good luck finding one…

You poor thing! That must be so frustrating and upsetting. I used to be a very bad emotional eater, and the one thing that FINALLY saved me was shadowboxing. I started taking the classes because I wanted a fun cardio class that didn't involve complicated dance moves, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the violent,…

Hang in there, you'll be impressed with how quickly you will gain strength. When I started bicep and tricep exercises, I had to use 1 kg per hand. Now I can use the pulley machine with a total of 40 lbs. That's still ridiculously low for the serious weight lifters, but I'm mighty proud of how far I've come in just a few…

I try not to exceed 500 calories in one sitting/meal, so I leave myself 500 cals for dinner and 200 cals for an evening snack. I usually have approx 350 for bfast, 200 for morning snack, approx 350 for lunch, and 200 for afternoon snack, for a daily total of approx 1800, although I'm okay with going up to 2000 if needed.…

Welcome to MFP and congrats on your weight loss so far! I want to be able to wear high heels without wanting to commit suicide after five minutes in them. I want to be able to wear a sleeveless shirt without scaring small children. I want to be able to find something that fits me in any normal clothing store I walk into…

I had expected things to be easier in the summer, since I wouldn't have to contend with all the ice and snow and could spend more time walking outside, but the number of temptations has been MUCH greater in the summer -- constant BBQs, friends mtg after work (or at lunch) to sit outside drinking rose (can't make this…

I'm 5'5" and aim for 1808-2000 cals/day. I've been steadily losing (48 lbs since the beginning of 2013) and have a diary that is open to friends -- feel free to add me. I'm always looking for more friends with open diaries who have similar calorie intake goals!

You look FANTASTIC! So impressive! Congrats!

I'm interested!

Congratulations! That's a wonderful story and a terrific NSV!

HUGE congratulations! That is a major accomplishment! Very happy for you!

I agree re real butter over a substitute, but I have a hard time making real butter fit into my daily life, since I am severely restricting sat fat for cholesterol reasons. As a result, I tend to use entirely different foods: on toast, for example, instead of butter I use hummus and avocado. Same thing on sandwiches. On…

I started at 257 and have lost 48 lbs since the beginning of the year by exercising and following this approach: I eat 1808-2000 cals per day and find that high-protein, high-fiber meals and snacks (I eat a little something every 2.5-4 hrs) keep me fuller. I try to eat whole foods and fresh ingredients instead of heavily…

Congrats x 3, and I love your bracelet!

Insanely fantastic! That bikini shot is incredible! So happy for you and inspired for myself!

Background before I respond so that my choices make more sense: Started in January of this year at 257 and 5'5". Goals were to get in better shape and reduce my cholesterol, but then weight started coming off, and now that's a major goal, too. I go to a lot of special events, eat out a lot, and still have wine and dark…

wow, that is a huge difference! you look fantastic! congrats!

I'm 5'5 and 212!!! But that's my weight after six months of hard work. My start weight was 257. Feel free to add me if that doesn't "disqualify" me.

Sign me up!

That is HUGE -- congrats! I find I'm getting better and better at stopping part-way through eating something and thinking about whether it's actually worth the calories.
-
Mine is open to friends -- feel free to add me if you share my approach (in which case you'd get much more out of viewing my diary and vice versa): I aim for 1808-2000 cals per day, eat mainly whole/fresh foods (I try to steer clear of the heavily processed items, although I do enjoy dark chocolate and wine), and log…

You can also work up quite a sweat doing seated shadowboxing, which obviously doesn't involve any kicks, just punches. Easy to do while sitting on the couch watching TV. It's a nice "starter" exercise before graduating to an actual class.

Thanks, everybody! As soon as I can get my hands on a meat thermometer, I'm going to try some of your recipes!

beans are very inexpensive and a great source of both protein and fiber -- there are all sorts of different ways you can dress them up. and good for you for thinking about this now while you're in school -- I sure wish I had done that.

Thanks, sounds great, but I don't live in the United States. Does anyone else out there have any recipes? Pretty please?
