Please add me, too! I've been doing great on the motivation front, but am really worried that I will start to slide next week when my brother arrives for a six-week visit...he and I looooooooove to drink wine together. Danger! Danger! I really want to kick things into high gear during the summer because the weather is so…

I just got back from the grocery store, where I bought: deli-thin-sliced turkey breast flavored with rosemary turkey meatballs ground turkey turkey sausage (do you sense a theme here?) fresh pico de gallo (usually make it myself, but felt lazy) ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta (to go in a pasta salad recipe…

I have lost 32 pounds since the beginning of 2013, when I finally got serious about MFP and decided to make my health a priority. I log everything and my diary is public, so feel free to take a look. My calorie goal is 1800-2000 calories/day; my nutritionist and doctor set that number for me after doing some metabolic…

I joined in January and have lost 32 lbs but don't see a difference at all in how I look, and I haven't gone down any sizes yet, although a few items of clothing are a bit loose. (My friends and colleagues say they see a difference, but they might just be being nice/supportive.) What I do see, however, is a huge gain in…

I would love to join! Anyone on this thread is welcome to add me. Started at 257 (beginning of 2013); currently 225. 5'5". 45 yrs old. Would LOVE to know what it feels like to be under 200 lbs. Good luck to everybody on here!

yogurt! hummus and raw veggies! natural peanut butter. good luck -- I bring my lunch in an insulated cooler bag every day. fruits, raw veggies, salads, and sandwiches (especially wrap sandwiches) are my staples. gazpacho is also nice.

I totally agree with everyone who has said food scale first. After that, though, my vote is definitely for the trainer. I started working with one in January, and it has made a HUGE difference. He pushes me much further than I would ever push myself, and watches my form carefully to make sure I'm hitting the right muscles…

Probably self-explanatory, but just felt like I really needed to convince myself that maybe this time I wasn't going to fail. And it eventually worked...for the first time in my always-overweight life I've been exercising regularly, logging my intake, and losing weight. Go figure -- that whole eat less, move more thing…

Add me to the long list of people who consider it one of my key tools. That and my calibrated wine glass that shows how many ounces and calories...

Way to go for not letting a bad day turn into a bad week!

You have a great sense of humor! Welcome to MFP and best of luck with your lifestyle changes -- feel free to add me even though I'm not in the category of people who think you can't do it.

Wow, you don't look like you've ever been even one pound overweight! That's definitely the kind of inspiration I could use in my friends list. Please feel free to add me if you want. I joined MFP awhile back but struggled a LOT with logging everything. Consequently, I didn't do so well. This past December, however, I had a…

for longer-haul flights I bring oatmeal or soup (the dried kind in the bowl-like container where you just add boiled water) and ask the flight attendant to pour hot water in it for me. don't forget to bring a plastic spoon if you go that route. gobites have awesome pre-packaged snacks and bigger picnic boxes for longer…

I agree with the earlier posters who suggested an afternoon snack -- I feel a HUGE difference (in terms of evening self-control) on the days when I have an afternoon snack versus the days when I don't. HUGE. Best of luck to you!

Anyone on this thread can add me if they want! I started MFP awhile back but struggled mightily with daily logging until this past December, when I had a real attitude adjustment. Since January 1st of this year I've logged every single bite except for the week I was on vacation at a health resort (where I figured I was…

Have you ever taken a shadowboxing class? It has worked wonders for me. I used to be a very emotional eater, but now when I feel the emotions rising which used to lead me to overindulge, my first instinct is that I want to punch something (not someone, don't worry). The music is fun, the movements are easy to follow, and…

You joked about bringing a cooler, but I sort of do. A flight attendant showed me the ones they use (check out ebags.com): all sorts of compartments and room for both dry and cold items, as well as one or two water bottles, plus a shoulder strap. If you're traveling, it even slides over the back of your carry-on bag.…
