  • I unintentionally stopped posted towards the end of July there, but I'm happy to say that I went 20 days AF. I did keep a running tally of the number of drinks I had, and it ended up at 35, which...is still not great for me? That kind of surprised me, so for this month I not only want to stick to only drinking weekends,…
  • Hi, I haven't checked in lately, but it's nice catching up on everyone's progress. July's been going pretty well, I've been sticking to my only weekend-drinking and feeling great during the week. I went to a live podcast performance last night and was tempted to have a drink or two since my friend and I got there so early,…
  • I don't post every day, but I do try and check in. It's getting easier to stay AF during the week, but I'm already "dreading" Friday evening...I don't know why it's so difficult to abstain when I know how much better I'd feel the next day if I did. I should write that down on a huge post-it and stick it to the fridge.
  • @MissMay that sounds so stressful. I'm sorry you had to deal with that and I hope today is better and that you had a great workout. I definitely overdid it this weekend--I had five drinks (5!!!! ugh) on Friday night and four on Saturday, and my long run was absolute *kitten* yesterday...hmm, I wonder why? I love @jcammoile…
  • I love coming in here and reading how everyone's faring, especially over the holiday weekend. I had ONE beer last night--we went to my parents' for a cookout and backyard fireworks. My dad had stuck two beers in the fridge; I had one, my husband had the other. I knew there were more out in the fridge in the garage, but I…
  • Hi, I'm back for July! I BARELY squeaked out my goal of more AF days in June than not (I had 16 AF days and 14 days where I drank), but I'll say that the back half of the month went pretty well. Even though I had days where I drank when I probably should've abstained, the number of beers I had was fewer than it would've…
  • I haven't checked in for several days, but I've been struggling a bit. I "allowed" myself to drink last Friday night and had three beers, which I enjoyed. I didn't super-enjoy the mild hangover on Saturday morning, but I've endured worse. I went to my neighbor's son's birthday party with my kids Saturday afternoon. They…
  • Yesterday was another tough one temptation-wise. There's a lot of BS going on with my neighbors lately and I just want to put it out of my mind, but last night I tried to sit with the anxiety and bad feelings and remind myself that I can't control other people, but I CAN control whether or not I drink. So I chose not to…
  • I had two evenings where I wanted to "relax" with a beer or two after a long day (hiking with the family on Father's Day, took the kids to an amusement park all day yesterday), but I refrained. If I don't drink tonight (and I have zero plans to do so), then I'll now have more AF days in June than days when I drank. I'm…
  • I had one and a half beers last night. So on the one hand I'm pleased with myself bc it's way fewer than the 5-7 drinks I'd been having on a Friday night, but on the other hand I'm slightly disappointed because now I don't get to count yesterday as AF...but baby steps. I'm not going to beat myself up. The goal is Less…
  • Been AF since Monday, but feeling apprehensive about this weekend. Friday night has been my night to tie one on for YEARS, even when I wasn't drinking all that much at all. I signed up for the Alcohol Experiment and am feeling inspired to try and go a whole 30 days w/o drinking. I'm keeping in mind right now all the ways…
  • Thank you, @MissMay! I stayed AF again last night and have zero regrets about it this morning! I also started the Alcohol Experiment (saw it mentioned by someone on here) and it's been really helpful and eye-opening.
  • Hi, I just came across this board and it's been really helpful. I used to be a strictly weekends-only drinker, but over the past year it's crept up higher and higher until I realized that I'm AF only 1-2 nights a week on average (beer and whisky are my downfalls!). My weight has crept up as well--I definitely get snacky…
  • I agree--use your Gift of Fear in this case! Your gut is telling you something is fishy about this guy, please listen to it. If you feel more comfortable running at night, do that instead. Conversely, do you have a friend who could run with you in the morning? Safety in numbers, etc. If you haven't read it already, The…
  • I'm having the same problem, but I usually log it as Kickboxing (Including Turbo Jam) because I'm dripping with sweat and exhausted, far more than with regular aerobics or even running.
