  • Have you tried to plate dinner in the kitchen and not have extra food on the table? That way it takes a bit more effort and thought to have a second serving.
  • Such hard work and dedication. Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
  • I run with a friend. She uses Map my run and I use the Nike+ app. They are always different. Nike+ is consistent each time we do the same route. Map my run is different every time sometimes longer, sometimes shorter and the pace seems irratic too.
  • I use the Nike+ running app. Its $4.99, but in my opinion SO worth it. Easy to use and accurate.
  • two egg omelet with a 1/2 oz of cheddar cheese topped with Frontera tomatillo salsa (yum) and 1/4 avacado 1/2 cup of sliced up oranges mixed with bluberries. The fruit was left over from dinner last night so the whole thing only took 10 minutes to make.
  • I fully agree with other posters that you should get fitted for the right kind of shoe (i.e. neutral/stability etc.). If you don't have a local running store to do a gait analysis, go to Runner's World website for some tips on how to figure out what kind of shoe you need. I tried to run in what I thought felt comfortable…
  • Mexican/Southwest slaw for fish tacos or just as a side. A recipe: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/fish-tacos-with-creamy-lime-guacamole-and-cabbage-slaw I usually do it on the fly without recipe (make ahead, the longer it sits the more flavorful it gets), but just google and there are plenty of different ones. Cabbage…
  • If I am doing cardio, hopefully I am working too hard to watch TV or read. I usually listen to music or I also find audiobooks a good distraction because you don't have to use your eyes. Current audiobook/distractor for long workouts - Tina Fey's Bossypants (read by her = hilarious).
  • Be proud of yourself for taking charge and making changes. Isn't it amazing how fast those calories add up? Feel free to add me!
  • Its funny how those around us try to sabotage someone's hard work and determination just to feel better about themselves. Keep your head up, keep working at it and block out the negativity.
  • I agree with others about videos - either online or dvd's. Not sure where you are located (big city or rural area), but you can also search Craigslist for used ones. Amazon also sells used versions for a fraction of the price. Also, when I am feeling low on motivation, I find a workout buddy (or buddies). Most people are…
  • You'll notice that when you log exercise, your total allowed calories for the day automatically increases in your food log so it is adding them back for you to eat. Just go by what it says you have remaining as everything is accounted for in that number. Keep on plugging away!!!
  • If you find fresh produce to be too expensive, stock up on frozen veggies when on sale. Brown rice, quinoa, and lentils are cheap (especially if you have a place to buy bulk), they keep for a long time, and recipes online provide endless options. Tortillas (whole wheat) and eggs are my go to foods on busy nights. It takes…
  • I have a 22 month old daughter and yes, being a full time working mom definitely makes it a challenge to work out. Before baby, I used to run 25 miles/week plus go to the gym at least three times/week. Now, no gym membership (canceled because I wasn't using it) and struggling to fit in workouts. Thankful to have a husband…
