Thanks these are all great tips. I usually do stop and walk a bit when drinking water :)

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it, I know I need to fuel properly I have not fueled correctly for other shorter races and I have bonked at the last 2 miles. I definitely do not want to bonk on the half. I really want to finish strong.

I also still carry a lot of weight on me, and I believe that does not help me in running at a faster pace and I also feel that I need fuel to keep going. This Friday night I am going to try having pasta before my long run and see how I feel. I guess these couple of weeks is the time to experiment with a couple of things…

I think the not going out too fast is Key for me, I always seem to go out too fast in other races and run out of fumes towards the ends so I really need to practice this in my last long runs. Pacers I will look out for them, I need to really figure out in my last couple of long runs the pace that I want to run. I have…

Believe in my training!!! need to remember this

It is good to know that no carb loading is needed for a half, I was under the wrong impression. Great advice Thanks

These are great thanks, I have tried the cliff shots those work for me and also some Jelly beans that I found. So I will continue experimenting with those until race day. bandaids never thought about that, thanks I will remember to pace myself, I really would love to sprint at the finish line. I always run out of fuel…

The day before a long run I may have a little bit more carbs than any other day such things like a bagel. I normally do not eat anything the day of a long run, maybe just a cup of coffee and a banana. I cannot eat too much because than stomach feels all weird. So will not do anything new on race day. :) I love the idea of…

Congratulations on reaching your goal weight and completing a half marathon that is awesome.

I agree with Dave, tracking everything really helps. I am also training for a half marathon in March and I was not loosing weight, once I started tracking and eating back some of the exercise calories I started to loose weight. But if I do not track than I get in trouble. For me I find it that on my long runs I feel really…

^^^^ This I agree with him 100%. I ran my first 5k in July 2012 and my pace was 12:10, I continued running and adding more miles to my runs. Did not do any speed work at all, I ran my second 5k that same year in December and I ran at a pace of 10:57. I started training for my first 10k and I ran that 10k In March of 2013…

I have to agree running has messed up with my cycle it has pushed out by a couple of weeks. I have an idea now when it will come but sometimes it just comes like two weeks later than it should.

I will look into these two options thanks

I have never been a BC pills kind of person, I seriously thought that they made you gain weight LOL!!. I will talk to my Dr on my next appt and bring it up. not having a period would be nice.

I have never ran a race while on it, but if it turns out that I am on it for my half it will be very interesting to see what happens.
-
I have never had a race while on TOM so I honestly have no idea how I would perform. I also tend to get nauseous the week before and two days into TOM, by the third day I am feeling back to normal. I have not heard and or tried the DivaCup I will have to look into it. Thanks
-
That is interesting I have never thought about it, did not know there was that option. I have never been a birth control pill kind of girl. But I will talk to my Dr about it. I thought that birth control pills made you gain weight?

First of all let me say Congrats for completing your first Half Marathon that is awesome. I am currently training for my first Half in March, but in the process I have raced in 10ks and 15ks to slowly help me increase the mileage and get my body used to running certain distances. When I cannot get outside I run on the…

Congrats!!!, You reached an awesom accomplishment. Thanks for the great report.

I love the feeling of accomplishing a certain distance, seeing how much my pace improves with every race. I love the adrenaline feeling I get on race day. I love crossing that finish line and looking back and saying I did it. I love it because it is my therapy.
