  • I'm a week behind! After my leg issue, I contracted the plague (nasty cold) and since breathing is essential to running and that was difficult at best, I had to wait until it subsided. I picked up where I left off with Week 6/Day 2 yesterday and plan on trying to do Week 7/Day 1 tomorrow - again skipping W6/D3. Stinks…
  • I just started taking Bikram Yoga classes a couple of weeks ago (and I'm hooked!). I don't have a HRM, but the friend I go with wears hers and can burn about 735-750 or more. I found the calculator below and that's what I have used. I'm 5'1" and 107. Hope this helps. http://www.everydayhealth.com/Calories-Burned-Yoga.htm
  • I am 6 days/week!
  • Single
  • Single mom to 2 wonderful kids - 15 year old girl & 11 year old boy Will be 50 in two weeks and am a work in progress :)
  • Last week I completed Week 6/Days 1 & 2 and then on Day 3 about 15 minutes in, I had another pull in my right leg. Tried to run it out and did okay when I went really slow, but by the time things seemed okay, it was a lost cause and I was out of time since I run before work. I don't plan on re-doing day3, I will just move…
  • Week 5/Day 3 is done. It was like breathing soup this morning due to the heat/humidity. It's been a while since it was like that at 5:00 am. I did it, finished without stopping and consider that a win in and of itself!
  • Week 5/Day 2 and my run SUCKED! I did really well and was kickin' it the first 3/4 of it then my right hip flexor/quad seized up on me about 1/2 way through the second 8 min. run and I had to stop and limp the rest of the way. I stretched good at the house, took the dog for a walk and worked it out a little then came back…
  • Well, Week 5 is here and day 1 is done! I hardly struggled with the 5 min. runs. The last one was a bit slower than the first two, but at no point did I feel like I HAD to stop. I truly believe that it is all a mental game for me at this point. Once I started to "think" about my breathing or pace, I would start to get off,…
  • W4/D2 completed. It was cooler and less humid this morning (as well as Monday) and I do believe that is making a big difference in a positive way. I made it through again with little trouble. Some of what I have noticed is when I either focus on the music or daydream about something else and not pay attention to breathing…
  • Week 4/Day 1 complete! I was surprised at how well and easy it was today. I am hopeful that the trend will continue with the run on Wednesday. Happy running everyone! You are all doing so well :)
  • Week 3 is done! Looking forward to moving on to Week 4! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
  • Finished W3D2 this morning and slowing down made the difference. I am ready to take on Day 3.
  • Finished Week3/Day 1 this morning. I made it through that first 3 min run with no problems, but I struggled the second time. I made it all the way through, just labored more. Again, I think it's my pacing. I start out feeling so good that I think I go to fast so by the second run through, I'm tired and struggle. Does…
  • Completed Week 2 this morning. Making progress as it was a little easier than Wednesday. I guess that's the warm up for next week. ;) I am taking the weekend off and resting my knee/quad so that I am ready for the 3 min. segment on Monday. Good luck to all and hope everyone has a great weekend!
  • I'm 49 and feel more like 20-something, act like it too sometimes  This is a great topic!
  • Completed Week 2/Day 2 this morning and it was a bit easier than Monday (W2/D1). I struggled a bit toward the end but not as bad as Monday. Everyone is doing great! Hang in there!
  • Because I like the way I feel during and after exercise and I like seeing the changes in my body. I also like that I'm able to keep up with my kids and enjoy all the things they do.

  • I rarely post on FB - mostly go to check and see what my daughter up to ;) and keep in touch with family. I don't post much here, it's a time issue with work, but I read and post as much as I can when I can! I do love the "usefulness" and encouragement of this site.

  • 5'1" here! I'm not focusing on losing weight as much as on fitness. The weight will come off as a result of my weight lifting and so will the inches. That is a great way to get tight/tone as well as yoga/pilates.
  • Week 2/Day 1 Complete! I need to learn to pace myself better. In the 25 min I managed to log 2 miles, but I was really huffing and puffing at the end. I started out great, but as the intervals went on, I noticed I was getting slower and slower. It's also very humid here which I'm sure plays a part. Regardless, it's done…
  • Hey there! I will be 50 in September and I have definitely noticed a slow down in my metabolism and have to work harder at exercising to keep it off and what I eat. It's not as easy as it used to be. I will be more than happy to support and encourage - we all need the help of good friends in the same boat!
  • Absolutely! Accountability, friendship and support are key factors in success for the long term... I'm here for the long run.
  • Hi all! I'm Kate, 49 turning 50 in September. I completed the program the first time back in late 2010 having never run before and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Life got in the way and I ended up stopping after a couple of 5k races. I decided I wanted to do this again as a birthday present to myself to prove I…
  • I agree as long as you warm up and stretch well before and after. I just started my second run with the program this week. I completed it and ran a few 5ks in 2010/2011. Good luck!! :)
  • Feel free to add me, too! I'm also a singleton of two that battles the emotional eating. I'm here for anyone who wants and needs it!
  • Thanks guys! Staying consistent is my weakness. Looking forward to the support and friendships!
  • I am 49, turning 50 in September. Please feel free to add me! :)
  • Great idea! Good luck and keep us posted on your "sexy" progress ;)
