The GMO issue drives me crazy. I want to option to choose to or not to eat GMO foods. It sucks when GMO crops end up affecting biodiversity. What freaks me out is that for someone (like me) who is switching to a vegetarian/vegan diet, it's sooo easy to eat an diet that's all soy with some veggies. I eat tofu like no one's…

I eat mine really quickly (haha) so I've never had them more than a day. If you find you waste a lot of Avocado or Guac, I found a product by Wholly Guacamole that's individually packaged/snack size guac tubes. Fairly tasty too (I get them for travelling). More expensive than fresh but if you end up throwing a lot of it…

I go over too. I'm not concerned about it since I don't over eat sweet things. There are lower sugar fruit options you could try switching too.

I have drastically cut down the amount of money I spend by buying healthy stuff. However I found one of the best things to do is buy what you need and then use it. I'll buy one bunch of kale or two big mushrooms and use them up before buying more. Maybe if you're good at meal planning you wouldn't have this problem but I…

Awesome! While some of those things can help (gym/TRX) they are definitely not required. One of the best things I ever did was take an outdoor bootcamp which taught me the right way to do pushups/weights/stretches/burpies/etc. Now I can do them on my own, wherever I am. There are tons of youtube videos that do the same…

When I originally weighed myself on my new scale, I was 160 but when I moved my scale to my bathroom where there was no carpet, I was 190. WAKE UP CALL.

In my experience a lot of people who do the same workout every day become used to it, it's routine. It's easier to slack a bit, not work as hard, not push yourself and then not burn as many calories. If you lift 5 pound weight everyday, eventually to get better results you'll need to do more reps, use bigger weights,…

I like how the OP actually got a lot of great suggestions but didn't comment once saying if she had tried some of the ideas attempted to clarify their relationship which might change of affect the advice people are giving. Aways a good sign when someone would rather argue with a few people about how good of a person they…

I also want to add that I find you guys (responders) hilarious. I personally find this site entertaining as hell. (I have also found so much support and advice here so it may be more the approach you take when posting, then the other people here).

I had really great results when I did interval training during a bootcamp. It's HARD (sprints to further and further distances, switching between pushups/jumping jacks/squats/weights). It might help get over the plateau. Even something like swimming is an amazing working out since it uses so many muscles. I have never done…

When I was super overweight and depressed my mom used to bribe me to go for a walk with her by suggesting that we should go "window shopping" in the evenings. We'd walk downtown (past the ocean- beautiful!) and browse in the windows every night. After a few weeks I wanted to do more walking than browsing. Clever!

Maybe kebabs? You could have veggies and a lean protein that way. Easy to eat and walk around. I've seen them at a few day long festivals. Keep an eye open for middle eastern or greek places. I find those usually the best bet for healthier options. You can skip some of the sauces but stuff like falafel is popular, delicious…

YES! People turn to that food for so many reasons. Maybe she knows it's bad but is depressed/hopeless/whatever. Maybe she doesn't care, maybe there are other reasons. Be a support. Why not make a healthy (and delicious) snack to bring one day and offer her a bit? If she likes it, give her the recipe. Do you get a lunch…

I got a basic one from a grocery store for about $15 (store brand). It's accurate (I checked a few items). I think the best thing to look for is one where you can switch the unit of measurement and one with either a bowl or a way to change the tare.

You are speaking my language, girl! If you're going to treat yourself- actually TREAT YO'SELF.

Oh I totally misread the post! I'm actually not familiar with nutritionalists at all. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
-
Check your phone book. I hear that's where you can find them! I went to a regular nutritionist once when I first went vegan as a little sprout who told met o eat PB at ever meal to get protein (LOL). About a decade (or so) later I went to holistic nutritionist to lose weight and she was amazing. She focused more on helping…

Lol, I posted this to the other thread too but this one is getting more milage so... I apologize but I'm going to get my food snob on here for a second, please bear with me I have been to a quite a few high end restaurants (we're talking places you reserve months in advance) and this dish has been happening for quite…

OMG I love that you know him. I adore him soo much!

LOL that drives me crazy. Stop ripping off old ideas from well known chefs and do your own experiments! Bacon is the new gelee which was the new foam. OVER IT. I am into this trend of savory/herb desserts though. Chamomile ice cream? Yes, please!

I apologize but I'm going to get my food snob on here for a second, please bear with me I have been to a quite a few high end restaurants (we're talking places you reserve months in advance) and this dish has been happening for quite awhile there. I'm of two minds about it- 1) Boring, it's been done (and better) and now…

If you do decide to try replacing junk foods with better versions of those choices (instead of cutting them out cold turkey) you could try replacing regular cookies with ones by Go Go Quinoa. There's not much sugar in them, there's a bit of protein. They have an orange one and a chocolate chip one too.

I like to add matcha green tea (it's a powder) to smoothies. It gives it a nice flavour. Do you eat rice? There's a kind of rice (Jade) that has been infused with green tea, making it green. Also agree with the ice tea suggestions.

For chocolate you can either get dark chocolate or try to find chocolate made with rice milk (I haven't tried this but I have seen it around). Daiya is AWESOME if you want a non-dairy cheese. Dairy is a really common allergy so it's actually really easy to live without it once you start reading labels (milk is used in a…

I feel you! If I bought junk food I'd eat it so fast. The best way I found to stop the problem is to not buy it in the first place. It sounds simple but I know it's hard to resist. I generally don't shop while I'm hungry (I plan out what day I'm going to shop) and I really spend a lot of time thinking about what…

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely try that.

Oh sorry, I'm 190 now! Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check out that site. I do have wheat and gluten sensitivities but I find that if I don't measure out my carbs I still get super tired. I've been having issues for a couple of years so it's taken a lot of experimenting. At one time I was eating completely wheat and…

Honestly think you look GORGEOUS. I'm sure everyone there will think the same thing as well :) You could always try going to a sauna too. It would be relaxing!

I enjoyed this series too! I never expect shows like that to be perfect but it's nice to have a dialogue about how habits are formed.

I think that sounds amazing! Frankly I consider those some big changes so you should be proud of yourself! Congrats!
