  • When I was having a lot of skin problems I would mix a "toner" of 1 part ACV to four parts water and pat it on my face. It's supposed to help balance Ph levels (?). I don't know if it's true but it helped me.
  • I've been interested in this term too. I feel like I always eat a full day of food. I never not let myself eat or go to sleep starving or anything but I'm always below my calories. When I exercise I try to eat extra protein but unless I fall back to "filler foods" I have no idea how I'd eat as much as MFP suggests.…
  • I've always been told that pasture raised is better term to look for because according to the USDA free range just means that chickens have access to outdoors (or requirement for how long they're outside) and there's no regulation to how big their roaming area is. It's better than caged but not as good as pasture. Pasture…
  • See, I get you :)
  • I take omegas for my depression. There also good for skin/mental ability/joins/a long list of things. My Naturopathic Doctor constantly suggests them. I take a liquid by Nutrasea. I'm on a special dose but I think it's the regular dose is usually 1tsp or 4 capsules daily. Personally, I have a noticed a HUGE difference in…
  • I thought it was referencing an earlier post, when someone said I personally attacked them because I replied to something they said.
  • I always take mine with my biggest meals. I take a lot of vitamins and minerals (I'm trying to treat my depression with them) so I divide them up over the course of a day (Otherwise my meal would be vitamins). If you're only take two, I'm sure you could take them together (but with a meal) but I'm like you, I think it's…
  • Come on, he's part of the Night's Watch. He can take it!
  • tofu scramble!! SO GOOD. I crumble it up (like a scrambled egg) and add lots of herbs (sometimes a dash of mustard too).
  • Why not add it to a smoothie with fruits and veggies? I never notice the taste of protein powder in them, only the texture.
  • I don't like hemp protein. I worked at a smoothie bar where we used whey, soy or rice. I prefer soy but if you're trying to limit how much soy you eat, rice is a good option too. I find there's no change in flavour (if you use them in smoothie. No idea what they'd like on their own). Hemp is really chalky to me. I can't…
  • You can now get machines to make your own carbonated drinks too although the syrups I've seen have basically the same ingredients as regular or diet pop. I like to just mix carbonated water with a small amount of pure juice (cranberry usually) and make my own fruit "pop". I figure since it's diluted so much, it's not a…
  • I thought that was Rebiana (a trademarked Stevia derivative used in Truvia) and Stevia was usually extract via water or alcohol (I'm not sure about commercial but I have a friend who makes his own stevia through a process similar to creating vanilla extract).
  • Hey! I really admire your lifestyle. That's what I imagine for my future as well. I look forward to seeing your insight on things :)
  • LOL. BEST RESPONSE OF THE THREAD. Poor emo Jon Snow.
  • I ended up making this with a little coconut milk and a sprinkle of raw cacao nibs. AMAZING.
  • I like sauteeing mine with onions, garlic, fresh herbs. I find I like my kale cooked a little more so I put that in first, then add bok choy, spinach (which I find cooks super fast), asparagus, chard, fiddleheads, etc. Maybe a dash of balsamic vinegar too. I eat that in some variation every day.
  • I treat it like meat- put a nice veggie based sauce on it, use it instead of meat in a lasagna (if you don't eat what you can use zucchini for the noodles), it's great in sandwiches, or as a replacement for bread in an open faced sandwich.
  • From what I understand Stevia is derived straight from the plant. Truvia is a sweetener made with an altered version of stevia called Rebiana and some kind of sugar alcohol (it's fermented I believe). I've heard mixed things about Rebiana, either that it's GMO or that it's made from stevia by a process involving chemicals.…
  • I am such a True Lemon person. I've only tried the lemon but they sell the full range at the health food store I shop at a lot and I've heard good reviews of them. I originally bought one of the giant boxes before there were so many kinds (I think it was just lemon and lime at the time) and now I wish I had gotten a…
  • I like making pasta out of zucchini. I also LOVE Bok Choy, Kale, spinach, experimenting with mushrooms and asparagus. I add peppers to almost everything I eat (chili peppers/jalapenos/etc.). I like tomatillos too to give my veggies a kick. I like making steak from eggplant too.
  • Congrats! I have been in similar places so I know how hard it is to recover. Very inspirational to hear other people get out from that place.
  • I have bipolar disorder and spent about 4 years being incredible ill and depressed while at university. Like, not getting out of bed for days sick. The medications I was on added a lot as well. I worked a lot of hours in different jobs while going to school (one was at a donut shop where I baked. NOT HELPFUL). It was…
  • That sounds so good! I have a frozen banana. I'll have to try that tonight. Thanks for the tip!
  • Wow, there's been so much arguing sense this morning. I'm really curious how many people who follow Paleo had previous issues with grains? A lot of people I know who follow it (or use it as a blue print) had history with wheat and gluten intolerance. I think this is why I'm not as anti-cutting out grains as some people…
  • HAHAHA. I responded to your comment that people who don't follow it, don't understand it ("But I guess people just love to not pick something they don't understand. ") Not everyone is the same. Don't assume just because someone chooses not to follow that it's because they're ignorant. And I didn't even say anything about…
  • Yeah, I agree with everyone else. Depending on the bar, they can be very sugary too. I know I saw one once with marshmellow/caramel/chocolate and there wasn't even *that* much protein in it. Maybe looking into whole foods bars might give you a better balance? Either way, I'd take the protein over the empty foods at the end…
  • I really enjoy making mushrooms/kale and bok choy with garlic and onion. Like a stir fry but with no rice. I also like to make Tofu "wings" by slicing tofu, grilling it and adding a really awesome BBQ sauce. Are you looking for more whole food ideas or more packaged/fast and easy type stuff?
  • I like getting fruit/flower based ice tea (loose leaf) from David's Tea or Teaopia (or any specialty tea shop). I never add sugar but I find they have a hint of fruity flavour without actually having sugar in them. I make popsicles with them or just have it with ice.
  • Very well said :)
