This is what I'm seeing: "I'm smarter/better/more successful than you because I have a PhD and I can read and site academic journal articles." "Yeah well I'm smarter/better/more successful than you because I lost XX lbs by doing X and Y and Z." :#

I didn't mean to imply that you were causing the stomach problems. I'm sorry if it sounded that way -- I was posting in a hurry. It just sounds like the other stuff -- the overexercising and not wanting to eat so you don't get fat and worrying so much about not working out...that stuff sounds like emotional issues. Many…

At first I suspected you had something like Crohn's disease but now that you describe it in more detail it sounds like you've done this to yourself. Have you seen a therapist? I'm sorry, I'm sure you're going through a really rough time. The doctor seems to be dealing with your physical issues, but maybe you need someone…

Regardless of *why* you're gaining weight (the pill itself or the fact that the pill increases your appetite), the fact is, you could try a different pill and have a different experience. I haven't been on the pill in many years so I don't know what's available these days, but I'm sure you can ask your doctor to try…

I'm no expert, but as I understand it you can't lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Lifting will help you keep the muscle you have while you eat at a deficit and lose the fat. As you lose fat you'll see more muscle definition. If/when you want to actually GAIN muscle, you need to eat more calories than you burn…

tl/dr too many rules

Day 11 first day of level 2. Holy crap! Couldn't finish, maybe not going to count this. going to try again tomorrow.

Oh yes, the same summer of the pickles and cheese (mentioned earlier), I was also supplementing heavily with black coffee and cigarettes. This combination made me so nauseated I couldn't eat. Result --> skinny!

Sorry to highjack the thread, neighbors, but have you guys been to either Liberty or Whitetail? We usually go to Snowshoe but this year we want to try something closer. My son (aged 10) wants to try snowboarding for the first time. Thx for your recommendations. :)

I'll bite. What do you mean by "body type?"

When I'm on the doctor's scale my clothes always weigh about 5 lbs, no matter what I'm wearing. Always. ;)
-
You're kidding, that's a thing now? Are you sure it wasn't just a weight belt, like to provide support to your back for deadlifts and such?
-
The summer between high school and college I ate nothing but pickles and cheese. Got down to 98 lbs...woohoo! Never mind the fact that I nearly passed out every time I stood up, I was skinny!
-
No, back when I was in that situation my parents ate healthier than I ever did and I would end up sneaking naughty treats when they weren't looking. My dad was a fitness freak and we used to run together.

It's very difficult -- nearly impossible -- to "get huge" by lifting weights, especially for a woman. Especially for a woman who isn't a professional bodybuilder. Lifting weights will help you maintain lean mass, strengthen muscle and bone, and, as you lose fat, you'll have some nice definition. In a nutshell, weight…

I knew a girl in high school who turned orange from eating too many carrots. True story. She was on a "health" kick and thought that if she only ate carrots she would negate the effects of cigarette smoking.

Congratulations! YOU are awesome!!

I lift weights because I like the muscle definition and I like to be strong, but I don't think it does a thing for my loose skin.
-
OK I googled, still doesn't make sense. So someone who is, say a size 18 loses 100lbs of fat and is now a size 6, but with loose skin. Lifting weights is supposed to "fill in" the loose skin so that you "fill in" some of the volume that the fat had taken up, right? How many women who were once 100lbs overweight are going…
-
Hmm...that doesn't make much sense.

Age and genetics are the two biggest factors. You're young, so your skin is more elastic than someone 20 years older. So yes, lose the weight now! I do have a question for those who recommended heavy lifting. How does strengthening muscle help skin?

I work and have 2 kids (ages 8 and 10, so easier than toddlers), 3 dogs, and my husband works in another city so I see him about one weekend a month. By the time I get home from work, feed the kids, take care of the furry beasts, tidy up the house, catch up on some laundry, etc., I'm just too worn out to exercise.…

I spread my breakfast out over several hours. My mornings are busy so it just sort of happens that way. It varies, but today I've had: 6:30am: black coffee (after workout & shower) 7am: fat free Greek yogurt w/blueberries (while feeding kids, making lunches) 8am: black coffee (in car going to work) 8:30am: Balance protein…

Oh...right...good for you then. I thought you were referring to MY insecurities, of which I have none... haha... When I'm in northern Europe I feel like a dwarf and when I'm in Latin America I feel like a giant. It's fun.

He doesn't just ask, he has an excuse for not doing whatever is suggested...not just here, but all over the forums. He wants a food plan, exercise routine, and grocery shopping list all laid out for him so he doesn't have to think about it. Sorry, but he's going to have to do some of the work himself.

because i'm all smart an' *kitten*?

I think it's interesting that the South Pacific is the most obese part of the world. Putting this up again: vizhub.healthdata.org/obesity/
