  • *eyeroll* ...the kitchen *AT WORK* This is getting ridiculous. And yes, MrM27...bothers me a little bit. You remind me of my husband. Is that you, honey? <3 :p
  • I didn't know what you meant, actually. Maybe for some people avoiding the kitchen is the first step toward learning self-control You're very judgy aren't you?
  • Yep, been there done that. Vicious cycle: Self-loathing -> mindless binging to numb negative feelings -> more self-loathing because of binging behavior and resulting fat body -> more mindless binging. It's taken YEARS of mental work to overcome this and I still slip sometimes.
  • I don't think it's sad to learn self-control. Lack of self-control is what got me morbidly obese. That's sad.
  • Nothing. Not a thing. Clearly you didn't read my posts.
  • Way too much seriousness around here. And I have to warn you since you used the phrase "sugar addict." You're about to start a whole 'nother debate about whether sugar is addicting the way heroin is addicting. ;)
  • I think the OP gets it, guys...she's just expressing her frustration. Just because she's tempted by cake and candy at work doesn't mean she has an "unhealthy relationship with food." Just because she used the word "sabotage" doesn't mean she blames everyone else for her issues. Lighten up, people...sheesh...
  • Thank you for the information! I guess I've been fortunate that I haven't had any symptoms. Definitely going to be better about taking my pills -- you've impressed on me how important it is. I'm now just a few lbs from being "overweight" instead of "obese," so hopefully my next blood test results will be better. Glad…
  • I've only been doing this for a couple of weeks (I used to run after work and lift weights on weekends, but life circumstances changed and I can't do that anymore), but I'm getting up at 5 to work out and strangely enough it's not awful. I'm done by 5:45 and I have a smug little feeling all day that it's done and over with…
  • I have a Vitamin D deficiency and I'm bad about taking my pills. :( When you say you felt better after getting your levels up, how did you feel exactly, before and after?
  • It sounds like you're ready to move up to Level 2!
  • For some people, unhealthy treats can be trigger foods. Speaking for myself, if I start nibbling on our receptionists' bowl of chocolates (mentioned above), I'll end up buying Oreos and Snickers from the vending machine.
  • Just say no. Simple but true. Our receptionist keeps a bowl of chocolates and a bowl of mints on her desk. I love chocolate so I've told myself that I just can't have any. I'll have an occasional mint when I'm wanting something sweet because I don't like them very much and I know I won't go back for more.
  • 5'3" 48 yrs old, still have 40+ lbs to lose. I've figured out that I can't net over 1350 to lose weight, so I have to exercise on a regular basis or be hungry all the time. Even at 1350 it's SLOWWWWWW and frustrating, but I can't go lower, leads to binging.
  • I started Day 1, Level 1 last Monday after 7 weeks of no exercise (pneumonia). Boy was I sore! This morning I did Day 5 and already I have a lot more stamina. So I'm not doing it every day, and I'm alternating with walking/running, and so far so good! I'm almost ready to move up to Level 2 -- I just want to get through…
  • Yes it's subjective, but I don't understand the rest of your statement. Oh well, doesn't matter. I really don't want to argue. :)
  • The only thing that makes me really sad about your post is that they blended a piece of pie into your milkshake. The best part of the pie is the crust, but if you mush it up into a milkshake it disintegrates! :(
  • Nope, I'll never bulk. Don't get me wrong, I love food. I'm a great cook and I love enjoying good meals at good restaurants. I just don't see the point of stuffing myself (with mediocre food, at that) if it only makes me feel sick. Sorry if I offended you. I don't usually come into the "gaining weight" forum, but the title…
  • Thank you for that oh so informative reply...I never would have guessed she did it with her mouth! :p I've never been able to stuff myself like that. Yes, I'm fat and have been for years, I didn't get this way eating lettuce for dinner, etc etc etc, but I've never been able to consume that much food in one sitting. It huts…
  • How did you eat all that? Didn't you feel sick afterwards?
  • Cutting out all sugar is ridiculous. I'm not a scientist and I don't have time to read all your links, but be realistic...not all sugars are created equal. I know anecdotes aren't evidence, but today I've consumed 38 g of sugar so far in the form of a greek yogurt, a protein bar, and a clementine. A can of Coke is 39 g of…
  • So much stuff! Husband and I bought a treadmill and dumb bells when we moved to Kenya 12 years ago (and didn't have access to a gym). Still use those. We also have an elliptical which I hate but he does religiously. We have an exercise ball, some DVDs, bathroom and food scales, shoes of course, and various workout clothes.…
  • A lot of those cravings aren't really for food, you know. You want that cigarette in your mouth! One thing that helped me a lot was cutting a plastic drinking straw down to the size of a cigarette and when the cravings got really bad, I'd hold it between my fingers, flick the "ashes" off of it, and "inhale" it like a…
  • I googled and I only see that it's a low carb diet for diabetics. Is your cousin diabetic? I'm confused about why this is pathetic and cheating. What does being young, single, and childless have to do with it? I'm just really confused.
  • You're right -- I'll probably "graduate" soon. I'm already feeling less sore and some of the exercises are too "easy." :)
  • I woke up super early today, as I tend to do (stress!) and figured why not get it done first thing in the morning? And you know, it wasn't so bad! 30 Day Shred at 5:00 am! :) We'll see how I feel around 9:00 tonight. LOL
  • I can't speak for everyone, but in my case (age 48, 5'3", 176 lbs), in order to lose these last 40+ lbs I can't net more than 1400 calories. If I don't exercise and I have to eat that little I get hungry and cranky and that's not good for anyone. Those extra 200 calories I burn make a big difference!
  • P.S. My husband is active duty Army and since we both have all the edikashun we need, we're using his GI Bill for one of our kids! :)
