What he said ^ It wouldn't work for me because if I let myself get super hungry I'm more likely to overeat. The thing is to know yourself and be honest about what works and what doesn't.

Must be an acquired taste then. I prefer just plain old fashioned cane sugar.

I don't have time to read the thread but I just wanted to say it's scary to me because it tastes bad and the bad taste just lingers for hours and my tongue gets very sad.

I've found that the weight loss is slower than when I was in my 20s, but then again I refuse to starve this time. Doing it right and for the long haul now. :) Sadly, as you get older your calorie needs are lower, so if I ever get to be a skinny 60 year old, I won't be able to eat more than about 1000 calories to maintain!…

"...but it's so crunchy and delicious, I need another one." <--- me last night "I did {impossibly restrictive diet} 10 years ago and lost 40 pounds. I'm going to do that again!" <--- someone I know who gained those 40 pounds back and then 50 more "I've been eating clean and exercising for 3 days...why isn't the weight…

Funny thing about my husband...he still won't iron or make the bed or sew a button or any of that other stuff. He's totally useless in the kitchen and our household duties are totally split along traditional gender lines. :grumble: I used to blame his mom for doing everything for him, but he has a brother who is Mr.…

This actually made me LOL, literally. I was thinking the same thing re "slimming class." So quaint and proper. :) Not to hijack the thread, but my hub (aged 55) had to take a class in high school called "bachelor living" (while the girls took home economics). In it, he learned how to iron a shirt, make a bed, sew a button,…

This. A fine rum is like a fine cognac. Sinful to mix it with anything.

Fitbit too. It's very accurate for counting steps, but I don't know about calorie burn. I always underestimate that to be safe.

I'm sorry, what's the P word?

I've cut way back for no other reason than calories. I can only have 1350 cals a day. Considering a 5 oz glass of wine is 125 cals, I'd rather drink water. I miss my wine, but the good news is my tolerance is way down so now I'm a cheap and easy date.

Never heard of it.

haha...THIS! I just got rid of 3 pairs of jeans that fit my pre-baby body (10+ years ago) -- they were so high waisted I felt like they were up to my boobs!

Two weeks isn't a very long time to see changes in your weight. Also, you're probably eating more calories than you think you are. If you open your diary people can see what you're eating and give you advice. What are your stats? It doesn't matter what or when you eat, really...the important thing to lose weight is to eat…

If your doc is telling you one thing and your dietitian is telling you another, you need to get your healthcare providers to talk to each other. It sounds like you're kind of lost. Your husband's in the military, right? Contact the behavioral health clinic at your local MHT and tell them you think you have an eating…

My hub has always been fit because he's active duty Army. Alas, he's never really learned good eating habits. When I met him his method for weight control was skipping dinner and running five miles a day. Now he's getting older and his knees have crapped out (torn meniscus x2, surgery on both knees) and he's about 30 lbs…

My office has mouthwash in the bathroom. I could email ya some. :)

I don't remember having serious sugar cravings in the past, but I do know that one method for me to stop eating when I'm satisfied is to leave the table and brush my teeth. Food just loses its appeal when my mouth tastes like Crest. :)

I always weigh more at the doctor's office because I'm weighed down by the stress of being at the doctor's office.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. My opinion of the "clean eating" discussion on MFP is that most people who have been eating too much and not paying attention, or people who have been living on fast food and processed snacks and find themselves overweight and/or facing health issues see "clean eating" it as a…

Half a pound a day...are you kidding??? By eating more calories than you should??? You must be an alien from another universe who defies the laws of physics -- no other explanation. :noway:

Ushuaia! :grumble: u.s. centric interwebz... kidding...

To lose weight you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. It's that simple. You might as well eat the foods you like to eat -- what's the point of deprivation? If you love carbs (like fruit!) and try Atkins, you'll feel miserable and fail. Take a more reasonable, moderate approach and you'll be more likely to succeed.

I second that -- talk to your doc. When I was pregnant my OB told me to eat lots of lean protein and fresh vegetables and fruit. Pretty logical advice. As for exercise, swimming s great bc it's easy on your joints. I did lots of swimming and walking. I definitely don't think you should be restricting calories. I'm sorry to…

Oh ok, I thought you meant that there was stuff added to it. I like brown over white-- has more texture and flavor, plus it's better for you. Just a matter of personal taste I guess.

Oh I just remembered another one but it's not me it was a friend. Somebody in a bar called her a fat stupid *****. She turned to the guy and said "I may be fat and I may be a ***** but I'm not stupid!" and she punched him in the face!

This is why I never go shopping with anyone. Too many traumatic experiences.

I was out running and 2 young guys in a car yelled rude things at me. I was having my wedding dress fitted and the stupid seamstress kept calling me a "big beautiful girl." I wanted to smack her. A guy I had a crush on told me that he'd date me if I lost 20 lbs. (I was a size 8 then) My kid came home from school upset…

Gyms can be filthy places. Wash and sanitize your hands often -- that's why you're getting sick. It has nothing to do with "liver toxins."

Unless you're planning to become a middle aged or elderly woman, I don't think you have much to worry about.
